Teachers help us to be good students and people.  Teachers' Day is the best time for us to express (表达) our thanks.

Teachers' Day is different in different countries.  On this day, Chinese students give cards and flowers to teachers. They usually decorate (装饰) the cards with beautiful colors and pictures.

 In the US, Teachers' Day is the first week in May. During this week, the school will have parties and give gifts and snacks (小吃) to the teachers.  That's because the apple means (意味着) health.

In India, Teachers' Day is on September 5. Students and teachers change(改变) roles (角色) for a day. 

No matter (无论) which country you are in, one thing is always the same—say thanks to your teachers.

My name is Belinda Black. I am thirteen years old, and I come from Mount Elm Sheep Station in South Australia. I have got two sisters—Jennifer is eleven and Lisa is seven. We are all pupils at the School of the Air.

The School of the Air is a school for children who live far from the cities, and who are in a place which does not have a local school. So we have "air" lessons over the radio or on the computer. Our teachers are at Port Augusta, a city which is about 160 kilometres away. In the morning, we go to our classroom at 8:45. It is really just a small building. When we get there, we turn on the radio or computer and listen to what we should do. From then until twelve, we just do our usual lessons. In the afternoon, our mum makes us do some homework—well, not homework, but more work around the house.

We send our exercise "books" to our teachers by email on Friday night. They mark them on Monday and Tuesday, and then send them back. We get them on Wednesday. The Internet and the telephone help us get in touch with our teachers quickly and easily. We talk to our teachers once a week for about ten minutes. They tell us if we are making progress.

Next year I will start at a new school in Port Augusta. I will spend the weekdays there and come home at weekends. It will be good to be with teenagers of my age, but I will miss my family. I hope I will be happy there.

He Jialuo is a music teacher at a school in Beijing. Every Thursday, she goes to a meeting room. As she turns on the camera (摄像头) on her computer at 1:30 p.m., 13 students from another school can see her on the screen in their classroom. The school is in Gansu, far away from Beijing.

 In China, there are many other schools like this one. They are in faraway villages and there are not many teachers for the students in these schools. Sometimes one teacher has to teach all the different subjects. It's difficult for them to give good lessons in subjects like music, art and IT.

 But now, thanks to a volunteer teaching project (支教项目), students in these schools can learn different subjects from volunteer (志愿的) teachers. He is one of the teachers. And she teaches these students online (在线).

 The project now has over 10, 000 teachers. Because of this, students in village schools can learn subjects like music well. It helps students see a big world. Some of them say they want to be teachers, artists, or even scientists in the future.

A Brave Adventure

Last summer, my family and I went on a j to the mountains. We stayed t and helped each other during the trip. At first, I t it would be easy, but the strong w made it difficult to climb. The path was w, but the rocks were slippery. At one point, I felt a sharp p in my leg, but I didn't give up. We walked t the forest and finally reached the top. Suddenly, a s came, and we had to find shelter. My dad said, "We must p ourselves." In the end, the sun came out, and we felt a sense of h for the future. 

It was an unforgettable experience!

Students need enough (足够的) sports. Hengxing Middle School hopes the students can be healthy. So it plans (计划) to let the students do more sports at school.

Han Rui, a 13-year-old student from the middle school, likes the plan very much. Han and her friends like rope skipping (跳绳), but now they can only run every morning at school. They think it's boring. "We hope to do what we like," say Han and her friends. "Because of the plan, we can play tennis, ping-pong and many other ball games. And we can also do our favorite sport—rope skipping next term."

Mr. Huang, a P.E. teacher from the middle school says, "The plan is good for the students' health. And it's good for their study, too."

She plans to   a new language this year.

Do you want to know anything about schools in England? Now, let me tell you something about it.

In England, schools begin in September after a long summer holiday. There are three terms in a school year: the autumn term is from September to December; the spring term is from January to March or April; the summer term usually finishes in July. The children in England begin to go to school when they are five years old. Most children are seventeen or eighteen years old when they finish high school.

High school students learn only five or six subjects each term. They usually go to the same classes every day, and they have homework for every class. After class, they usually do a lot of interesting things.

After high school, many students go to college (大学). They usually have to spend a lot of money on their studies. So many college students work after school to get money for their studies.

In the UK, a school day starts at a quarter to nine every day. Students usually have to wear a school uniform, which can be a shirt, tie (领带), and sports clothes for boys, and a blouse, tie, and skirt or trousers for girls. When school begins, teachers asks "Is everyone here?". After that, students go to their first class. Each class in the UK often lasts for about 50 minutes. Students usually have subjects like English, math, science, history, geography, and foreign languages. Some schools also offer music, art, and P. E. After two or three classes in the morning, there is usually a short break. During the break, students can go outside to play or eat a snack (零食).

Lunchtime is around 12:30 p. m. Students can bring their own lunch or eat in the school dinning hall. The lunch time usually lasts for around an hour, giving students time to relax (放松) and meet with friends.

After lunch, students return to their classes. The afternoon starts with more lessons. There is also group work, projects, or even show time.

School usually ends around 3:00 or 3:30 p. m. After that, some students go home, while others may stay for other activities. These can be sports, music clubs, or art clubs. The activities are great for students. There is homework at the end of the day, and students can finish it at home. This helps them remember what they learned in class.

A school day in the UK is busy but also full of learning and fun moments with friends.

Many students go to school by bus. But do you have classes on the bus? There is one small farm in Mexico. There is no school there. A bus is the school. The driver of the bus is the teacher. It's a school bus, but it doesn't take the children to school. It just goes around from place to place every day, and sometimes it comes to the farm. The bus will stay there for three months. The farmers call it a school on wheels (车轮). Every time the bus comes, the farmers run to it, shouting (呼喊) and laughing. They like the bus a lot.

When the bus is on the farm, in the morning, the teacher teaches the small children. In the afternoon, the bigger children come to have their class because they must work in the morning. At night, the fathers and mothers come to the bus school! They want to learn too.

Everyone on the farm welcomes the bus school. However, they hope to have a real school in the future.

Most students have 10-minute breaks between classes. They can do some 1 , talk with each other and relax during the time. However, to keep their students safe, some schools don't let them 2 the classroom during breaks —unless they need to go to the toilet (卫生间). "They cannot go outside to play and relax," a parent says in an interview (采访).

To give students a 3 rest, primary and middle schools in Beijing began to add five more minutes to break time 4 classes from the autumn term in 2024.

According to the new rule, each school should have a 30-minute 5 break in the morning and another in the afternoon. Students should have at 6 90 minutes of break time each day in primary schools and at least 105 minutes in middle schools. With the new rule, students will have more time to relax, rest, and play outside. This can help them keep 7 and avoid myopia (避免近视).

To help students use their break time 8 , many schools in Beijing are working hard. For example, Dianchanglu Primary School sets a climbing wall for its students. Qianjiadian Central Primary School 9 a "Happy Farm" for students to do some farm work. Huashi Primary School holds an art show in the hallway. Students can enjoy great 10 during the break.
