During the break times between classes, Xiao Jingsheng from Beijing Shangdi Experimental School often went to the toilet then back to class with no time for anything else. But now that is different. "I can have more time to rest and share interesting things with my classmates," said the 14-year-old. 

"Starting this autumn term, students at primary and middle schools in Beijing have a longer break between two classes, from 10 minutes to 15 minutes, so students can spend more time outside. 

To help children better enjoy break-time activities, some schools mixed break time with labor education by opening planting areas and animal breeding zones (饲养区). 

"We have welcomed new friends to our school—some ducks and rabbits!" said Zhang Boren, a 13-year-old from Beijing 101 Middle School Kuangda Campus. "During the breaks, some play with these cute animals, while others exercise on the playground. We get closer to nature, which is refreshing (令人耳目一新的) and relaxing. "

As the break time is longer, making sure everyone is safe (安全的) is also important. P. E. teachers in schools keep an eye on students playing on the ground. 

"Sometimes the ground can be wet in the morning, so we tell the students to do more upper body exercises to avoid (避免) running and falling down," said one P. E. teacher. 

"School days are the best time of one's life. But how to live a happy and meaningful (有意义的) life at school?" Yifei  by herself on the way back. So she asked  teacher. Here is the teacher's advice. 

Join a sports team. You can play soccer, basketball, or baseball with other students. Team sports are a great way  new friends. It can also make you exercise every week. This can help you keep . 

Join a club. If you don't like  sports, you can join a club, such as the art club, the chess club, the music club or other clubs. Joining a club can also help you know what you are really  in. 

Do volunteer work (志愿服务). You will find your life more meaningful when you help the people who are in need. If you can't do something alone (单独地), you can go with your . You can help children learn to read, clean up a park and so on. Find something you can do and keep it at least  a week. 

Read more . Reading can make you see the world in a new way. It can make you . When you read books, you will forget the hours going by. It can bring you to a new world. Reading for 30 minutes every night can help you develop a good habit. 

Life in an American high school is exciting. The high school in America is not just place for studying some subjects. 

A high school student usually starts school at about 8:00 a. m. and finishes at about 3:00 p. m. There are no courses on Saturday or Sunday. 

 Then they can choose different kinds of food and drinks. After lunch they play sports, talk with friends or just have a rest. The lunchtime is usually as long as an hour. 

When the school day ends, many students still stay at school for after-school activities.  There are more activities for students to choose from than clubs. Students like to do sports with the school team.  It's great honour to play in the school team. 

Most American high school students have part-time jobs during the school year and a full-time job during the summer vacation.  They can learn lots of life experience and skills from their jobs.
