On May 18, the students from a special school in Gansu province visited a "mobile (移动的) museum". They  (see) some pictures of things from the museum on the school playground. 

Chen Bingren, organizer of this activity had the one-day show  (successful). It was Chen's first time to be a teacher for special kids. 

The special school has 158 students.  many of them have speaking problems, the talk between Chen and the students went very well with the help of a sign language teacher. 

Huang Baoping is  Grade 8 student at the school. He has hearing problems but he likes drawing very much. He kept  (ask) questions like, "What's on the pottery (陶器)?" and "Why did the ancient people draw things like that thousand years ago? " Later on, Huang took part in a pottery workshop and made a lotus (莲花). Many  (child) like Huang made works with their own understanding of things. Chen was  (surprise) by the kids's love for art. 

Ma Yujiao, a teacher at the special school, says they went to museums many times  the past. However, the "mobile museum" was different and special kids  (give) better chances to learn about Chinese history. 

"We will have more 'mobile museums' to help more people to learn much  (good) about history. " Chen says. "Because museums are important for history. 

How interesting it was! Last month, every student in my school's health class took part in a special  (项目). We had to take home a "baby" to care for one day. The "baby" looked like a doll (洋娃娃), but she had a similar  (重量) to a real baby and cried at any time. 

At the beginning, I thought it was easy without  (疑惑). On my way home, the "baby" cried all of a  (突然). I was quite worried and I calmed down (使冷静) my "baby" by rocking (摇晃) her for a long time. And my arms and back hurt. 

Once I got home, I  (计划) to get some homework done. I placed my  (困倦) baby on my bed and started my work. I thought the "baby" would give me some time to myself – but I was (错误). Just about 10 minutes later, she started crying again. I spent a lot of time rocking and feeding her to calm her down, even at 3:30 am. 

 (凭借) this, I now have a deeper understanding about parents. They have to look after, love and care for their child  (几乎) all the time. I only had the "baby" for one day, but it is parents'  (日常) work. We should thank them for what they did for us. 

Paper cutting has a long history of over 1, 500 years. In the past, every girl  master it. However, the ancient art  is at risk of disappearing. Voyo Woo, a paper cutting artist, works  and hopes to bring the art back to life. 

Voyo Woo began to study the art of paper cutting  she was 14 year old in her hometown in Southeast China. So far, she a famous paper cutting artist, keeping paper cutting well-known. 

A hairdresser who actually listens

Recently, a hairdresser who goes by the name of Xiaohua has become the centre of attention because she1 understands what customers want. 

Since videos of her cutting hair were widely 2 online, many people have watched her livestreams (直播) to learn her 3 or just to talk. Her Douyin account (账户) now has more than 3. 88 million fans and her videos have received more than 11 million likes. Some fans 4 come to visit her shop in Huaihua, Hunan Province, to get a haircut. 

Xiaohua, whose real 5 is Li Jing, first started sharing videos online in February. At first, they didn't draw much 6 . But recently, one of her videos quickly got a lot of views, as people 7 her for responding (回应) to customers' needs. Many have invited her to open shops in their hometowns or give speeches to hairdressers across the country.

Emilio Santana, 14, is a boy with a huge heart. He spent years growing out his hair just so he could cut it all off and gave it away to kids in need. 

 "I started growing out my hair in the third grade, " Emilio said. "A little girl at the beach was going to the water. 

 You could see how sad she was, and I felt sorry for her. It was then that I decided to grow out my hair so I could give away it to someone in need. " 

 Emilio faced many problems. For example, he sometimes got bad comments (评论) from others. "Some people said boys shouldn't have long hair, but I don't care. As long as I could make somebody smile, I would keep doing it, " Emilio said. 

Emilio's hard work finally paid off. His hair has been given away to Hair We Share, a nonprofit (非营利) organization. It provides wigs (假发) for sick kids at no cost. 

Emilio hopes to meet the person who receives his hair. If he never does, he has a message for the kid. "I really hope my hair brings you joy and puts a smile on your face, " he said.

Do you ever get that feeling that there aren't enough hours in the day? But then, you step outside into the countryside and everything seems slower. It's not just you-recent research showed nature can regulate our sense of time. 

For many of us, life is busy with work, home, and family, making us feel like we never have enough time. This time problem has become more serious as digital (数 码 的 ) technologies became more popular. But recent research shows that nature might be the solution to our time problems. A psychologist (心理学家) named Richardo Correia from the University of Turku in

Finland found that being in nature can change how we feel about time and even make us feel like we have more time. 

Correia studied how people feel about time when they do different tasks (任务) in the city and in nature. He found that people always feel time goes more slowly in nature compared to the city. For example, people are more likely to think a walk in the countryside as longer than a walk in the city. Similarly, doing tasks in green environments make people feel time passes more slowly. Nature seems to slow down our sense of time. 

Why does nature influence our sense of time? The way we experience time is shaped by our brain and the events going on in the world around us. As a result, feelings such as stress, worries and fear can distort (弄变形) our sense of the passage of time. The relaxing influence of natural environments may lower stress, resulting in a more stable (稳定的) experience of time. 

①Hong Kong people, like Marco Kwok, become guides for visitors from different countries because of the Hong Kong Pals program. This program, run by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (旅 游 发 展 局 ), lets volunteers show tourists special places in the city. Kwok enjoys being a cultural volunteer, giving tourists important information and learning about their backgrounds. 

②Since 2009, the Hong Kong Pals program has gathered (聚集) over 100 warm-hearted people from different backgrounds. They show visitors Hong Kong's lifestyle, traditions, and local knowledge, making tourists feel comfortable. Agnes Tam, who used to work at a big company (公司), helped an old man remember his childhood by old photos. Volunteering makes her feel more satisfied and happy. Lee Ka-lun, a PhD student, joined to show Hong Kong's cultural and artistic beauty. 

③Many Hong Kong Pals also admire their own city more by volunteering. While preparing for the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, civil servant (公务员) Agnes Lo learned about the rich history behind the tradition. She and other volunteers like Kwok, Tam, and Lee worked together, sharing, learning, and helping the city. Over 14 years, they have given over 70, 000 hours of their time. 

④Last year, the volunteers and the board's team helped about 2 million tourists, answering over 2. 3 million questions. Hong Kong's tourism is becoming livelier, with people coming for sports, tennis, shopping, and food. But the city remains friendly. With good training, volunteers understand better about Hong Kong's tourism and know how to welcome visitors, telling a great story about Hong Kong to the world. 

⑤The Hong Kong Pals program is getting stronger, with more people joining in than ever, helping to improve tourism in the city. 

I always remember a famous saying, "Books are the ladder (阶梯) of human progress. " Over the years, reading has become an important part of my life. I like reading because it has not only enriched my mind but also provided spiritual support for my growth. 

Take my favorite book, Wonder, for example. It tells the story of August, a 10-year-old boy. 

August is a common boy in many ways; he likes riding a bike and playing video games. But

August was born with facial deformities (面部畸形). Until August turned 10, his mother taught him at home, but the family finally decided it was time for him to start school. 

August's first year at school was terrible. Most people were afraid of him, so they kept away from him. But he never gave up on himself or lost hope. During that hard time, a girl named

Summer reached out to him and wanted to be his friend, which was when August first felt kindness from friends. 

Then a dramatic event at a school camp changed everything. People discovered how brave he was and how hard it was for him to get along with others, leading them to understand him better. 

Kindness is the main theme in Wonder. It helps me realize that a small, simple act of kindness can make a big difference and that we have the ability to choose kindness. From this book, I have also learned to face differences in people. We'd know that no one is common and that everyone is supposed to receive a standing ovation (鼓掌) at least once in their lives. 

Books like this make me strongly believe that reading can truly change how people think about life. So, I hope you can find a book that brightens your day, and try to make reading a part of your life. 

Every year, Natural History Museum in London holds a competition for the Wildlife

Photographer(摄影师) of the Year. There's a competition for people under 18. It is known as

the "Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year". The pictures are judged (评审) in three age

Alberto was sitting in his father's car when he saw this young

stonechat (野 鸽 ). Stonechats like open areas. There they can sit

up high and keep an eye out for food. Alberto had to work hard to

take the picture, as the bird was so busy flying off to eat. 

Ages 11-14

Winner: Parham Pourahmad, USA

Work: An Evening Meal

Parham has a habit of visiting the parks near his home. He likes

showing wildlife in busy cities. The picture shows a Cooper's

hawk (氏鹰) eating a squirrel (松鼠). He took this picture in a

nearby park just as the sun was setting.

This is what Alexis saw while walking in the forest. On the left

is a springtail (跳虫). It's only about 2 millimetres (毫米) long,
