Jina always said she was number one.

At school, she thought no one could be better than her.  Once, she spent time reading the book, but then she saw her best friend was on PageSixty, and she was only on Page Thirty-eight. So she flipped (快速翻阅) until she was number one again.

 The teacher said the plants would grow slow, so they needed to be careful. But Jina poured(倒) lots of water on her plant. Jina's plant died in a few days, but she said that was still the shortest time in the school.

At home, she always ate her dinner quickest.She never stopped to talk about how her day went with her parents.  She just put food into her mouth and chewed (咀嚼) until she ate it up.Then, she would run off to do her homework fastest,too.

 Her parents waited for the elevator (电梯). She would start running up the stairs (楼梯)to get to the top floor before the elevator did. Her knees(膝盖) were always red from tripping (绊倒), but knowing she was number one made her feel better.

Of course, she never took part in any real contests (比赛). Her friends all joined in different kinds of contests. Some of them even went to the big maths contest or concerts in music halls. But she didn't have to. Why?

The Power of the Attitude (态度)!

"Look, it's Baldy (秃头)!" A boy shouted to me. Although I was often insulted (侮辱) because of the scars on my head, it was 1 to hear.

When I was just 20 months old, I had an accident——a bowl of hot water fell on my head. My parents sent me to the hospital at once. The doctors tried their best to save my 2 . "It is very lucky for your daughter to be alive," they told my mum and dad. "But there will be scars on her head, and of course her hair won't 3 there."

As a child, I 4 my scars very much so Ialways wore a hat to cover them when I left home.One day, I took part in a children's burns (烫伤)camp. There I made a friend, a 14-year-old girl,Mary. Her burns were a lot more serious than 5 . But she was so strong that she 6 showed any sadness. "You shouldn't listen to what people talk about what you look like because we' re not 7 from anyone else," she said. "You don't need to wear a hat because you look great without it."So, at my 13th birthday party, I gave up my 8 and let my scars appear because I thought there was no need for me to hide 9 my hat.

Now I am confident of what I look like and much happier, because I know it is the attitude that tells 10 you truly are.

I still remembered the first day I met Jane.When she  into the classroom, all the students were very surprised because there was a big red birthmark on her face. Jane didn't care at all  some bad boys laughed at her. , she was always smiling.

I wanted to know why Jane could always be so happy. So one day, I went to her and asked if she knew there was a red birthmark on her face. She replied that of course she knew. Whenever she looked in the  she could see it.

"Then how can you live  all the time? Don't you think the mark makes you?" I asked.

"No, actually, the mark makes me special. I always tell that I have no way to decide what I look like,I can decide what I want to be. I'm much luckier than those that can't walk or run. At least I'm a healthy person," Jane answered with a smile.

Jane's words opened a new world for me. At that moment, I understood the world  than before. If the world is looked from a veryway, some bad things will be good gifts.
