"A friend in need is a friend indeed." Friends are important to us. Friends help us get through hard times. Friends also influence us a lot. Let's enjoy two poems about friendship.

Both poems are famous in their cultures, but they tell different stories. Li Bai described the scene(场景) of his friend seeing him off. The US poet Robert Frost wrote about a friend's visit when he was working.Li made a comparison. His poem shows the friendship between him and his friend is deeper than the deep water. Frost's poem, on the other hand, tells the readers that we should stop what we are doing to talk with our friends. It tells us that nothing should get in the way of spending time with friends. The language is simple but sincere.

Farmer John and Farmer Bob were neighbours. For more than 30years, they had been getting along very well. 

Then their good relationship broke. It began with a small thing, then bitter words, and then weeks of silence. One morning John woke up to find a stream between the two farms. "It must be Bob, "John thought. 

Then one day there was a knock on John's door. He opened it to find a carpenter(木匠). 

"I'm looking for a few days' work, " the carpenter said. 

"I do have a job for you, " John said. "Look across the stream at that farm. That's my neighbor Bob. He dug a stream between the two farms. I want you to build a fence—— an 8-foot fence. I don't want to see his place or his face any more. I don't have such a neighbour. "

The carpenter said, "I think I know what to do, sir, and I can do a job to your satisfaction. "

Farmer John helped the carpenter get the materials ready and then he was off. 

About sunset when the farmer returned, the carpenter had just finished his job. The farmer's eyes opened wide. There was no fence at all!

It was a bridge! And the neighbour, Bob, was coming across, with his hand outstretched (伸出). "Hi, John! You're quite a fellow to build this bridge!"

Then they met in the middle, taking each other's hands. "I'm really sorry for what I have said and done. We should be good to each other, " said Farmer Bob.

Learning to accept people makes the world kinder and more interesting.

There are over eight billion people in the world and everyone is different. It means everyone is special and unique. You can be different from your friends because of the religion (宗教), culture, skin colour, disability, health conditions, learning ways, the food you eat or even the clothes you wear. When you accept other people's differences, you understand that everyone is equal and deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.

Everyone has their own ideas, feelings and stories, and sharing them is a good way to learn. If someone has moved from another country, finding out where they come from teaches you more about their country and the world. When someone has different interests to you, you can learn something new from what they do. It makes you think about how you treat other people and how to be kind.

It's OK to notice differences. The anti-bullying group Project Rockit says a good way to make others feel accepted is to give them a chance to show their strengths. If someone in your class speaks a different language, ask them to teach you a few words. Remember that not everyone's differences can be seen. If you have a friend who doesn't speak much and learns differently to you, you can still play together. Also, look out for each other. Project Rockit says if you notice other people picking on someone for being different, speak up and say it isn't OK. Everybody wants to belong and we have the power to help people feel that way. 

Every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. Your friends will 1 you when you speak, will take care of you when you are sick, and will be together 2 you on your journey through life. 

Everyone 3 friends. Friendship can make us happier. 4 can we find a good friend and get on well with each other? Here 5 some advice.

You should make friends with a person who has 7 in common with you.

Even the best friends may have a fight sometimes. When this happens, don't let it last too long. Try to make up with (与……和好) your friends soon. 

Friendship is a kind of treasure (珠宝) in our life. It is like a bottle of wine(酒)—— the longer it is kept, the better it will be. 

A: Hi, Jane.?

B: Hi, Dylan. I am writing to Jason.

B: He is my best friend at primary school.

B: He lives in Sydney now. But he will come back to China this summer vacation. Would you like to meet him?

I was much taller than other girls in Grade Eight, so I often bent (弯曲)my body at the back of the line. For me, (high) was my trouble. I had always felt unsafe as (冠词) tallest student of my class.

My grandfather didn't laugh  (介词) me. Instead, whenever I tried to bend myself in order to appear shorter, he would say, "Stand straight (连词) tall, Alisa." And he always told me stories of his life.

My grandfather (grow) up in the war-torn(受到战争破坏的) country. After the war, he went to America. He lived a hard life. "If they could do it, why couldn't I?""Stand straight and stand tall," he often reminded (提醒 )(he). Thanks to the help of a friend,my grandfather got a job. He once told me that he was very nervous at  (one). He was trying to learn not only this (hard) and new job, but also a new language.

I am so proud of my grandfather. Since I listened to my grandfather's unusual experiences, I(change) myself.

"Stand straight and stand tall"(be) a piece of advice to improve my posture (姿势) for many years. It also tells me to be proud of who I am.
