Fudan University unveiled(推出) a new humanoid robot at the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. Standing 165 cm tall and weighing 62 kg, Guanghua No. 1 was the only university-developed humanoid robot among the 18humanoid robots on show at the WAIC.
Guanghua No. 1 is an emotional (情感的) humanoid robot. One of its most amazing features is the ability to show four feelings — happiness, anger, sadness, and joy — on its facial display screen. It can also wave its arms and walk upright.
Gan Zhongxue, a researcher from Fudan University, said the robot focuses on meeting the growing needs of China's aging population. "Our market research(研究) showed that the old are in great need of the humanoid robots, " Gan said. "So we tried our best to create a‘health partner' to provide great care and help for the old day and night. "
Researchers of the humanoid robot Guanghua No. 1 began to work on creating it in 2022. And the team planned to release(发布) a trial version(体验版) by the end of 2024. They were doing tests in several provinces to make sure of the robot's care abilities. They planned to introduce it to a few places the next year.
