Sometimes it's hard for people to understand why space activities are necessary. Why should we spend money and energy on space exploration?
Many inventions that we use in our daily lives are the results of space exploration. Lots of them are important to us, such as the satellite(卫星). Satellites are very useful— helping planes navigate and providing the Internet for people. They also allow us to predict the weather and even help us deal with climate change. Besides, researchers are exploring space in search of planets beyond Earth that are suitable for human life. Through exploration, researchers can also develop some new technologies to make our lives better and find new chances for the future.
Since its start in the 1950s, China's space exploration has gone through more than 70 years of development. Looking back on the development of the space industry, we have always followed our own unique development path, which is in line with China's national conditions.
In 1970, China's first artificial satellite Dongfanghong-1 was launched(发射). In 2003, China's first manned spacecraft Shenzhou V was launched in Jiuquan, Gansu. In 2007, China's first satellite around the moon, Chang'e-1, was launched, and in November of the same year, Chang' e-1 successfully sent back the first picture of the moon surface. In 2012, the Beidou-2 System officially provided services, covering the Asia- Pacific region(亚太地区). In 2016, China's second space lab, Tiangong-2, was launched into space. In 2020, Tianwen-1 was also successfully launched in Wenchang, Hainan, which was our first attempt to go to Mars. So far, China's aerospace industry(航空航天工业) has made great progress. Starting with nothing, it has now become one of the world's leading space powers. We all feel proud.
Many excellent scientists and astronauts made great contributions to the history of China's space exploration, such as Qian Xuesen, Sun Jiadong, Yang Liwei and Liu Yang. A large number of science and engineers faced lots of challenges during the process, but they never gave up and were brave enough to fight, creating wonderful results one after another. This spirit is the valuable treasure of our nation and encourages us to continue to go forward.
