Have you ever heard of Dunhuang's Mogao Caves? They are amazing places with ancient murals(壁画). Now, there's a 1 book that tells us all about them!

The book is called The First Sight of Dunhuang. It has 112 conserved pictures of murals from the Mogao Caves and Yulin Caves. These caves are in Gansu Province and have a very long 2 —— from the 4th to the 14th century They were even listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It means the whole world thinks they' re 3 . 

The book is special because it shows all the 4 of the Shi family. Shi Dunyu, an expert in her 70s, and her parents 5 their lives restoring(修复) and copying these old paintings. They didn't just copy how the murals look now. They were especially good at doing research to 6 missing parts and ancient colors. Each 7 in the book comes with stories about the art and its restoration. 

The Shi family played a huge part in the whole restoration. They mixed skills from oil painting and traditional painting techniques(技艺) to make the restorations look 8 . This book is about a family's love for saving old art.

I'm Miriam from Italy. I visited Chengdu last month. At first, I was in a bad mood because of the hot weather, but this beautiful city  . 

On the first day, I visited some places of interest in the city, like the Wuhou Temple, the Du Fu Thatched Cottage and the Wenshu Temple. I   and learned some stories about famous Chinese people in ancient times. I was deeply impressed by China's rich history and traditional culture. 

On the second day, I went to Dujiangyan and saw one of the famous ancient Chinese hydraulic(水利的)engineering projects. I   its greatness and the wisdom of ancient Chinese people. Then I took the bus to Qingcheng Mountain, which I had longed to visit ever since I watched Kung Fu Panda. When I finally saw it  , I was completely lost in the beautiful scenery. 

On the last day, I wandered through the small streets in Chengdu. I experienced the local life. One of the most important parts during this trip was  . I ate hot pot and many kinds of snacks. How delicious they were!

What a wonderful trip to Chengdu I can't wait to visit again. 

In 2025, the 15-minute break system became a hot topic. Schools across the country are exploring this system, and teachers are not allowed to keep teaching longer or stop students from doing activities during breaks. Now, balancing study and rest has become a key concern. So, how can students make the most of their breaks?

Teenagers can do many things to strengthen their bodies and improve their physical health. For example, they can stretch their legs, move their shoulders around, jump rope or play ball games with classmates during the breaks. These activities are simple and don't take much time. Activities outside the schoolyard are welcome. Taking a short walk is also a good choice. These activities are fun and help kids stay active. 

This change brings many benefits to teenagers. It helps build strong bodies and relaxes muscles after sitting for a long time. It also makes their immune(免疫) system stronger, and reduces the risk of illness. In terms of mental health, exercise reduces stress from studying and makes teenagers feel more positive. Many students say they feel happier and perform better in class after a short break. Teachers also notice that students pay more attention when they return from their break. 

In the future, to help teenagers stay active, both the government and communities should offer more support. The government can spend more money on improving sports facilities, like building better basketball courts and fixing up running tracks. Communities can organize sports events for teenagers during holidays. Also, the media can do its part by showing sports-related programs that encourage students to be more active. 

With all these efforts, I believe teenagers will be able to achieve better physical and mental health and grow up happily. 

Book reports are common school tasks. You might feel scared at first. But don't worry—— with a clear plan, it's easier than you think! Here are five key steps to help you succeed. 

 Most teachers give clear instructions about them. Start by reading these requirements carefully. Circle the parts your teacher wants you to include, such as describing characters or themes. 

Read the whole book. You must read the book from beginning to end.  However, many books have an introduction that explains the book's background or the writer's life. Read that first—— it can make the book clearer. 

Use some extra resources(额外的资源). If reading the introduction doesn't make the book clear, you can also search online to learn more about the writer or the history behind the story. 

Remember to take notes while you are reading. It can be difficult to remember all the things while reading, so it's a good idea to take notes.  So ask yourself: Does this event change the story? Is this symbol repeated? These questions help you pick what truly matters. 

Think about what to write in your book report. Always check your teacher's rules first. Talk about the main characters.  Look for the main ideas by finding repeated symbols or words. But write everything in your own words. Take your time and you' ll produce a great report!

When you have a book report task, try these methods!

Why does one plus one equals two? Many teachers would say, "It just does. " However, this answer has made children . 

They' re right to be so. This type of answer makes math feel like a set of rules that must. How boring As a math researcher, I like to challenge rules. Instead of simply that one plus one equals two, let's go a step further and question whether it's always true. 

Sometimes, one plus one can equal  than two. If you and a friend each have 1.5 times the amount of money  for a cup of coffee, alone you can only buy one cup, but together you can pool your money to afford three. 

Sometimes, one plus one is just one. If you put one pile(堆) of sand on the top of , you just get one pile of sand. Or if you mix two colors, you only get one new color. 

And in some situations, one plus one is . If I say, "I'm not not hungry, " that means"I'm hungry. " The point here is that one"not" plus another"not" means no"nots". 

You might think this isn't math because the examples in question aren't numbers at all. But the goal of learning math isn't just to get the  numbers. Instead, it's to understand the world on a deeper level. , in mathematical research, we often try to explore when a rule holds and when it doesn't. 

I want us to see math as a space to ask questions and explore  answers, rather than a strict place where rules are all rigid(死板的).

Our school library serves as an important place for learning and reading, and there are several ways we could make it even better. 

Adding more interesting books would greatly benefit all students. This gives students more choices to find something they truly enjoy. After all, students have different needs and interests. Some are drawn to exciting storybooks, while others prefer science magazines. Right now, most of the books on the shelves are old textbooks or study materials. We should buy more new books covering popular topics like space exploration and keep the old classic books that never go out of style. 

Another important change is to improve the reading environment. The chairs in the library are hard and uncomfortable to sit on for a long time. Adding soft cushions(坐垫) to the chairs and installing(安装) brighter lights would help students feel relaxed and focused. Putting small plants on the shelves can also make the space look lively and fresh. 

The way we borrow books can be more efficient(效率高的), too. Self-checkout machines, like those in big libraries, would save time during busy periods. Students can scan books themselves quickly, and clear instructions next to the machines will make them easy to use. This helps a lot especially when many students borrow books at the same time. 

Colorful activities can make the library more fun. We can have a book fair each month where students can bring their favorite reads and share stories about why they love them. Reading competitions with small prizes can make reading exciting. Inviting writers to talk about their books lets students learn about writing stories. These activities will make reading more exciting and encourage more students to use the library. 

A great library helps us study well and have a deeper love for reading. With these improvements, students will enjoy spending more time there and develop a lifelong love for books.

Last summer vacation, I visited an ancient town with my parents. One morning while I was exploring alone, I took a 1 turn and got completely lost. As I was trying to find my way back, I saw someone disappear through an old door. I followed him inside and entered a postal(邮政的) museum with great 2 .

The trotting horse lamp is a kind of traditional lantern which is often used to celebrate festivals such as the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The lamp is popular for its great fun and deep meaning in Changyi, Jiangxi Province. If someone wishes everything to go well in the future, he or she will light the trotting horse lamp. 

There is a wheel inside the lantern, as well as small candles that are burning at its bottom. The wooden sticks support the whole lamp and paper covers it. Once the candles burn, the temperature inside gradually rises. Then it's hot enough to cause the air to flow(流动) so that the wheel shaft turns slowly. 

The shadow(阴影) of the paper-cuts on the shaft clearly appears on the screen, and the images(图像)will move around without stopping because of the airflow. In ancient times, the paper-cuts were often about people who rode horses. Because the movements of the paper-cuts looked as if a few people were going after each other, this kind of lantern was named the trotting horse lamp. 

The trotting horse lamp makes people's lives colorful. At the same time, we can't help feeling amazed at the wisdom of Chinese people. Trotting horse lamps have been listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage. 

However, making a trotting horse lamp is very challenging. It requires not only painting and paper-cutting skills but also lots of patience, as every step must be done carefully. At present, this skill is mainly in the hands of the older generation. They worry that it might disappear one day and hope that more young people can try their best to learn it and pass it down. So some schools have started clubs where students can try making simple trotting horse lamps. The older experts say, "We hope young people will keep this art alive!"

In a clear glass tank(缸), fish are swimming happily.   This scene could be seen at the World Digital Education Meeting in Wuhan from May 14 to 16, 2025. Scientists at Wuhan University have developed these bionic fish. 

These bionic fish are about 53 cm long and they look so real. Some people even mistake them for real fish at first. The joints(关节) in their heads and tails were designed in a special way.   This is thanks to bionic engineering. It brings together nature and man-made things. 

Bionic fish also have bright and pretty colors. They come from the LED lights on their bodies. It's amazing when their LED lights are on.  

Professor James Crabbe from Oxford University once said, "These bionic fish are really interesting. They can help us learn more about how fish swim in groups. " When fish swim together in large groups, we call this swarming.   By studying this swarming behavior, we can better understand fish social structure and how the changing environment influences them. 

What's even more amazing is that these bionic fish are smart. With the help of AI and sensors(传感器), they can"see" things in their path and learn to avoid them.   Scientists are using them to study the water in the Yangtze River. They collect information to help protect the Yangtze River's environment. This shows us how cool science can be and how it helps make our world a better place.
