A few years ago, Zhang Chao went to Indonesia to take part in building Indonesia's first high-speed rail project. At first, he had some communication problems with his Indo-nesian colleagues(同事). This taught him a lot about understanding between people. He shared his experience at the China-Indonesia Friendship Story Sharing Event held in Beijing on January 29.

At the beginning of the project, because of communication problems, the work did not progress as smoothly as expected. Small misunderstandings often appeared in their daily work. For example, he often heard his Indonesian colleagues say"yes"—— but it did not always mean agreement. In China,"yes" means agreement. However, in In-donesia, it can also mean politeness, acknowledgment, or"I just hear you." This also made Zhang realize that a railway is built not only with steel and concrete(混凝土), but also with people's understanding. During the work,the Indonesian colleagues prepared a quiet place for Chinese workers to rest at noon. They once gave Zhang a hand-drawn picture, which showed them building the railway together. Zhang took it home happily and said it was the best gift for him.

The railway opened in 2023. As an important Belt and Road project, it shortened the travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from 4 hours to 40 minutes and changed people's daily lives.

An Indonesian reporter in Beijing, Desca Lidya Natalia, once got lost but was helped by Chinese staff. This kind act left a deep impression on her. This personal experience made her want to show the true spirit of China-In-donesia friendship. At the event, guests also talked about other areas of cooperation between the two countries. An Indonesian official said such personal stories were important and would improve the two countries' friendship.

The story-sharing activity will last the whole year, and more stories and experiences will be collected online.

When the air turns cool and leaves cover the ground, we call this season autumn or fall. But why do Americans usually say"fall" while the British say"autumn"? The story is  history and language.

A long time ago, people  this season"harvest". This old English word showed the season's main purpose:  collecting farm products at the end of the growing period. As life changed from farming to modern life, the word began to lose its . People needed new words.

The word"autumn" comes from the Latin word"autumnus". It means the time when the leaves fall from the trees and the temperature drops . The Romans also used this word. Later, the French said"automne". Over time, it became"autumn". British people liked this word  it sounded smooth and carried ideas of change.

At the same time, England people used"fall of the leaf" and"fall of the year" to  the season. Soon,people shortened them to just"fall". It was  direct and clear word.

In the 17th century, people from England went to America. They carried the word"fall" with. It was simple and easy to use. So, it became popular in North America. Meanwhile, in England, people kept."autumn" They liked its sound and its long history.

Today,  mainly say"fall" The British mainly say"autumn". They show how language can change in different places.

Our art teacher once gave us a task:  draw a picture of our school garden. There was only one rule: erasers were not allowed."1 are part of the art," she said.

Everyone was surprised."If we have no erasers, we can't fix wrong lines," I thought. My deskmate, Zoe, though, just 2 and picked up her pencil.

There are many resources (资源) for children to learn Italian. But not all resources are helpful. 

The local environment matters a lot. Find an Italian playgroup nearby or Italian-speaking families. You can also arrange play dates with kids who speak Italian at home. This helps kids learn in a relaxing, social way. In this way, children can practice Italian while playing and make new friends.

 It sounds simple, but it is the easiest way. Try to use it at home all the time. A simple"Time andPlace" method works well— speak only Italian at dinner or on the way to school.

Try to choose some Italian books.  Try changing your evening bedtime story to an Italian book. Another great way is to have a little quiet corner the children can go to at home with the books. Even if they aren't reading yet, they will imagine the words of the story in Italian if you read to them in this language.

Learning online is useful. You can set your kids to study online when you are busy. Italian cartoons and songs are also perfect. Let your kids watch their favorite shows in Italian— this makes learning fun.

As you can see, there are so many ways to help children learn Italian. If you use just one or two of these methods, you' ll increase their confidence and help them master this wonderful language soon.

Clouds are like nature's weather reporters, and their shapes are closely connected to geography. Warm oceans,lakes or rivers provide enough wet air. High mountains make the warm air rise, and the water vapor in it turns into clouds.

Clouds in different areas have special shapes. These shapes can help us know what the weather might be like in the next few hours or days. For example, in warm and wet places like southern  China, soft and white  cumulus clouds(积云)  often mean sunny days are coming. But if these clouds grow taller and darker quickly, they may

bring thunder(雷) and rain soon. This is because warm, wet air rises fast in these places, making clouds develop rapidly. In dry northern areas, thin and light cirrus clouds(卷云) high up in the sky are special. They show that a cold wind is on the way.

Different natural places also create different cloud shapes and weather signs. Stratus (层云)  clouds look like a thick grey blanket covering the whole sky. They often bring light rain. This is especially true near the sea, where there is plenty of water from the ocean. Near big forests, the air is full of moisture(水分) too, so clouds there are usually thick and easy to bring rain. On the grasslands, clouds are often low and spread out, telling us the weather will stay calm for a while.

By watching cloud shapes and their changes carefully, we can tell the weather without phones or other tools.This helps us plan trips, outdoor activities and daily work better. It's also a fun way to learn how the environment around us affects cloud shapes and the weather. With a little practice, we can get really good at reading cloud signs. Next time you go out, just look up at the clouds—— nature is telling you the weather! How amazing it is!

A week before last year's school photo show, Alex's brother, Leo, rushed into the room. He was in such a hurry to tell Alex something exciting that he didn't look where he was going. He fell and Alex's camera dropped from Alex's hand. The lens (透镜)  broke with a loud noise. Alex was very sad because it was special——a gift from his father for his thirteenth birthday.

The Small Joys in Life

Life is made up of not only big events but also small joys.

I have a happy family. But I often worried about small things—— like a difficult exam coming up, my little sister sometimes arguing with me over toys, or the homework that seemed never to be finished. So I always looked serious.

One afternoon, my kind old neighbor, Mr. Clark, saw me standing quietly in the yard and invited me to his house for tea. While we were talking, Mr. Clark showed me a short video on his phone. It was taken from his window last Sunday. In the video, my little sister was running around the garden, my mom was putting snacks on the table, and I was helping my dad water the flowers. At first I looked serious, but then I smiled when my little sister ran over and handed me a small flower.

"I like to record the little moments like this, Leo," Mr. Clark said."They help me remember that life isn't always easy, but there are many happy moments in it."

I had completely forgotten about that moment. In my mind, that Sunday was just"a busy day". But now I saw clearly: I was laughing happily with my family.

Then I understood: my busy schoolwork meant I could become better and make my parents proud.The noisy home meant it was full of life and love. Even the homework meant I had a chance to learn and grow.

On that day, I learnt an important lesson:  happiness is often hidden in small things.

In China, there is a special day called the Tianca ng Festival, or the Festival of Filling the Barn(谷仓). It (celebrate) on the 25th day of the first lunar month. On that day, people wish for a good harvest(丰收)a rich life in the new year.

Take small steps

For many people, getting started is the hardest step when it comes to getting things done. For example, if your challenge is a messy room, collect the empty glasses and put them into the dishwash-er. Your room probably looks a little better already! Next, pick up the clothes on the chair and hang them up. Then put pens and pencils into a cup.

Pair tasks with something fun

If you have to complete a task that you' re not excited about, make it more enjoyable by doing it with something you do like. You can also find a partner, such as a friend, and clean out your back-packs together.

Personalize(个性化) your organization

 You might find that keeping a notebook to write down your daily checklist is easier than using sticky notes(便利贴). Enjoy the satisfaction of crossing items off your list as you get them done!

Be kind to yourself

Learning executive function skills takes practice. If you forget or lose something, speak to yourself kindly, just as you would to a friend who made a mistake. You may feel silly at first, but it will cheer you up.
