Have you ever thought about the possibility that your simple T-shirt could cool you down by up to 5℃ on hot summer days? Thanks to a recent invention, it will probably come true. The amazing invention helps people feel comfortable and fresh in the outdoors on hot days. 

Its inventors, engineers Ma and Tao in China, had a completely fantastic way. They made a special textile. It can take in body heat and send out its energy into space. This textile cools both the objects and the area around them through radioactive cooling. This means that even when it looks like you are wearing a common shirt, you are in fact wearing something that works like a mirror. 

Research at Stanford University had already succeeded in cooling the wearers by 3℃, but this invention was not good enough. So researchers still need to test the new invention to decide how well it works while the wearers are standing or walking, and not directly facing the sky, like in their research. 

Inventors Ma and Tao are now looking for textile factories and clothing brands that are interested in using their textile. They predict that the new material will increase clothing costs by just 10%. ④"We can make it with mass production, which means everybody can get a T-shirt and the cost is almost the same as their old ones, " Tao said. 

So if you are a sportsman or simply someone that has to deal with the really high temperature, be patient because your days of feeling hot may be coming to an end!

China's annual college entrance examination, the gaokao, began on Friday. A record-breaking 13. 42 million students are taking the test across the country. Local authorities have taken various measures to ensure the smooth running of the exam, which lasts until Monday. Teachers and parents are doing their best to support and encourage the students. 

In Beijing's Xicheng District on a rainy Friday morning, there were scenes of parents and teachers giving last-minute encouragement. The mother of a student said she would wait in the car nearby until her daughter completed the test, which lasts for two and a half hours. 

In Beijing, it started raining at 7 am. The traffic management bureau activated a duty plan to ensure smooth traffic. Over 800 police officers on motorcycles were deployed around 105test spots to maintain safety and order. By9:30 am, the bureau had assisted 44 requests from test-takers and their parents, including 11 emergencies such as vehicle breakdowns. 

Special measures have been adopted nationwide to facilitate examinees. For example, in Gansu Province, a green channel for issuing exam admit cards was activated on June 1 and will remain open until June 20 for other upcoming tests. In Hubei Province, 107 reporting and consultation hotlines have been established to address various concerns of test-takers, including providing support for exam stress and anxiety. 

The father of an examinee in Wuxi noted that the current gaokao grading system is more challenging than in the past. However, it provides more choices, including Sino-foreign cooperative programs and vocational colleges, offering more higher education opportunities. 

Professor Chen, a member of the Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy, explained that the increase in the number of test-takers is due to changes in statistical criteria. There won't be a significant shortage of seats as famous universities have expanded their undergraduate admission plans. So, students and parents shouldn't be overly anxious about the competition.

How long can human beings live? Most scientists who study old age think that the human body is 1 to live no longer than 120 years. However, 110 years is probably the longest that anyone could hope to live— if he or she is extremely healthy and lucky. Some scientists even say we can live as long as 130 years! Yet, our cells simply cannot continue to reproduce 2 . They wear out, and as a result, we get old and eventually die. 

Even though we can't live forever, we can live a 3 life than ever before. In 1900, Americans' average lifespan was only 47 years, but today it is 75 years! When does old age begin then? Sixty-five may be out-of-date as the 4 line between middle age and old age. After all, many older people don't begin to experience physical and mental decline until after age 75. 

People are living longer because more people 5 childhood. Before modern medicine changed the laws of nature, many children died of common childhood 6 . Now that the chances of dying young are much lower, the chances of living long are much higher due to better diets and health care. 

On the whole, our population is getting older. The 7 in our population will have lasting effects on our social development and our way of life. Some people fear such changes will be for the worse, while some see 8 , not disaster. Today, many men and women in their" golden years" are healthy, still active and young in 9 . 

As our society grows old, we need the 10 of our older citizens. With long lives ahead of them, they need to stay alive and be devoted.
