Scientists from the European Space Agency (ESA) are looking for materials for building on the Moon. Using space dust (尘埃) and ideas from Lego, they've made a brick(砖块) that might just work. 

Just 12 people have set foot on the Moon but with more missions planned in the next few years, building on the Moon could happen. However, carrying things to the Moon is expensive, so scientists want to see if they can make materials there. 

The Moon is covered in a layer of rock and dust called regolith (风化层). However, only a little of this has ever been brought back to the Earth, so there isn't enough of it for scientists to run any experiments. Instead, a team at ESA looked at an ancient meteorite(陨石) that was found in north-west Africa in 2000. They grounded up parts of the meteorite and mixed the dust with small amounts of other materials. This gave them something a bit like the Moon's regolith. 

The team then used their mixture and 3D printing to create bricks. The finished bricks are very small and won't be used on the Moon, but making them shows that regolith could perhaps be used to build things on theMoon in the future. The space bricks are now on display in the Lego Store in Leicester Square, London. 

Many kids dream of flying into spaceone day, and Katya Echazarreta was noexception(例外). 

When she was a child, she promised herself she would go to space. At 26, she became the first Mexican-born woman to travel to space after landing her dream job at NASA as a test engineer. 

Now, Echazarreta wants to show other women that they can reach their dreams too. "You never know what kind of doors you can open from chances that may not seem right for you at the moment, "" Echazarreta said. 

That's how she got to NASA. When she was interviewed for a job that wasn't exactly what she was good at, her enthusiasm (热情) and love for the work made NASA create a job that fit her skills. 

Her passion didn't stop there. Echazarreta was chosen to join the crew (全体工作人员) of Blue Origin's NS-21 flight through Space for Humanity. She said it is an experience she won't forget. 

"I realized that the person I was from zero to 26, Ileft her in space, " Echazarreta said. "I'm not that person anymore. I'm much more‘human'now, and I care deeply about everything and everyone. "

Echazarreta continues her mission today by encouraging girls to follow their interest in STEM(science, technology, engineering, and maths) careers. 

"I am working hard every day to help others have the same chances, " Echazarreta said. 

China's lunar probe(月球探测器) has successfully returned to the Earth with the first-ever samples from the Moon's unexplored far side. The Chang'e-6 landed in the Inner Mongolia desert on June25 after a nearly two-month-long mission(任务). 

Scientists are excited to see the samples because they might help us understand how planets formed. Scientists are particularly interested in this part of the Moon because it might have ice. This ice can be turned into water, oxygen, and hydrogen.

The successful Chang'e-6 mission makes China very proud and catches the attention of the world.

Chinese officials planted the Chinese flag just after the Chang'e-6 capsule (太空舱) landed in the desert of Inner Mongolia. 

President Xi Jinping congratulated the mission team and said he hopes they will continue exploring space. 

My family has started an amazing brilliant new Bike Bus in Camden, London. We cycle toschool (每) Thursday. There are usually around 15 (儿童) and around 9 grown-ups. We give out things (为; 给) the Bike Bus, such as movement sensor bracelets(传感手环) that light up, stick windmills, funny (眼镜), whistles and, most importantly, high-visibility vests(高能见度背心) with cycling slogans on the back. It's (免费的) to join— we shouldn't have to pay to be safe!

Our cause is for kids to be able to cycle on streets (无; 不) being in danger of cars. Enough of us cycle together so we're safer (因为) we are so visible. More people cycling (意味着)fewer people driving and less pollution. (大多数) of my mother's friends think that using a car is a quicker and safer way of getting their kids to the school, but the Bike Bus  (帮助) parents who don't normally take their kids to the school by bike try it. It's really quicker than a car!

 My son and I went to Lowe's to buy his grandpa a weed eater (除草机) and a certain attachment that goes with it. 

As we 1 there, there was only one of the attachments left that we wanted. Well, there was a guy there getting it down. My son looked 2 . He knew how much his grandpa had been wanting this stuff and we were going to 3 him with it. My son looked at me and 4 said, "That's the last one. What are we going to do for Grandpa now?"

A group of Chinese-learning Emirati students showed their wishes in recent letters to Chinese President Xi Jinping. 

They are forty elementary and middle school students from the Hamdan Bin Zayed School and the Yas School, two demonstration (示范) schools of the "Hundred Schools Project" of Chinese language education in the United Arab Emirates(UAE). 

In their letters written in Chinese and with their drawings, the students expressed their love for Chinese culture and their hope to be ambassadors(大使) of the China-UAE friendship. 

Hamdan Bin Zayed School is the first school in the UAE to offer Chinese language courses. The school's sixth-grade student, Hamdan, has learned Chinese for over a year. He drew several bamboo s in the letter to show his wish to President Xi: to visit China and see pandas eating bamboos. He also expressed his hopes of becoming"a true man by climbing up the Great Wall" and"the UAE's ambassador to China" in the future. 

In a reply to their letters, President Xi encouraged them to learn Chinese well and learn more about China to help make a stronger friendship between the two countries. 

"In your letters, you say China and the UAE have been hand in hand for 40 years and hope our two countries will always be good friends, " President Xi noted. "The Chinese people also share the same wish. "

Ben Wollen, 21, from Swindon, the UK, climbed an indoor wall at Flashpoint Climbing Center 885 times, which added up to the height of the world's highest peak(高峰). 

Ben did this to raise £2, 000 for a new water tower to be built in Sanyang in Gambia. 

He took on the challenge after visiting the area in February. 

Mr Wollen said his time there was"amazing and very eye-opening" and after speaking to the locals he wanted to help them. 

 "The trip changed my life and I know it can make a difference to them and will provide clean water, " he said. 

He is helping Wuyeh, a man from Sanyang, who says. his community has great difficulty getting clean water. 

In a video, shared by Mr Wollen, Wuyeh says materials (材料) are very expensive in Gambia at the moment so they are thankful for the help from Ben Wollen.

 "The community needs to benefit (得益于) from clean water in order to move on with our daily lives, " Wuyeh adds. 

After climbing 72 hours, Mr Wollen said he had beaten his initial(最初的) goal and now wants to raise as much money as he could. IXi. ""I want to play a football game with Grandpa want to invite Grandpa Xi to my country."

On Wednesday afternoon, Guo Dong'e from Shangtian Village, Guangdong Province showed her thanks to rescuers again and again. They c her to a helicopter(直升机). Guo Dong'e is 99 years old. She had a bad disease and the rescuers quickly took her to the h . 

He Xiaoqing is Guo's son. He said he found hope when he s the rescue team coming. He worried about his mother's h and they had waited for help for three days. He and his family had to live on noodles to m their primary needs. 

"All the roads to the village have been interrupted(中断), and we had to stay in the village f Sunday to Wednesday. We didn't have c water and enough food, " he said. "I had to walk far away to get water and ask for help. "

The rescue team saved Guo, her son, a five other villagers. They were trapped in the village because of the floods. They felts to see the helicopter. "I've only seen helicopters from movies before. It's amazing that a helicopter came to rescue u this time, " said one of the villagers. 

Every summer, hundreds of polar bears (北极熊) passthrough the small town of Churchill in Canada. They travel to the 1 after the sea ice starts to break up and become water. To keep any 2 "event" away from the town people, the town has opened a "prison(监狱)". If any polar bear comes into the town 3 food, the town will put it into prison. The polar bear has to 4 in a small room for up to a month.

The event happened when a car ran into a river. When the car began to drift and go down, 53-year-old Jiao Dayin took action quickly.  He tried to climb on top of the car and wanted to break a window to save the driver inside. 

 Another onlooker, Wang Yihui, joined him at once. Wang also climbed onto the car, working alongside Jiao to free the unconscious (昏迷的) driver. * Their brave work paid off when they finally broke a window and pulled the driver to safety. 

The wonderful rescue was met with cheers and applause (欢呼和掌声) from people on the riverbanks.  Videos of the event show how Jiao and Wang saved the driver in danger. 

 A dog without home named Huihui became popular at Fuzhou University after saving a little cat. The heart-warming event happened on Sunday evening when some students saw Huihui looking worried, digging quickly in the ground. Its nose and legs had injuries(伤). 

Worried about the dog's action, the students joined Huihui in digging. Later, they heard low cries—a cat was in the ground. The students helped dig and take stones away and they finally took the cat out around 10 pm. Huihui felt relaxed after the cat got free. The dog then carefully smelt the area. Maybe,   ▲   . 

People didn't know why the cat was in the ground. Some thought it was born there before it rained on Saturday. A video about the dog saving the cat went popular online, getting over 30 million views and 650, 000likes. Many praised Huihui's bravery and kindness. 

Many people said that they would like to help the two animals. The video's owner said that many people would like to keep Huihui and the cat and that they already found loving homes. 

Ernest Shackleton gave the order to leave the ship. Ten months earlier, theEndurance had become trapped(被困的)in Antarctica. The sea men stayed on the ship for a while, but the ship was filled with water and they couldn't stay there. The Endurance was going to sink. 

But Shackleton had planned ahead. He gave each man warm clothes and a sleeping bag. They set up tents on the ice and took food and other things away from the ship. They also pulled three smaller boats to their camp to help them leave when the sea opened up again. 

Staying on the ice, the men kept busy hunting sea animals for food. They read the few books they were able to save — encyclopedias were their favorites. They played games, and one man played music. They often talked about home. 

The ice broke apart as it moved north, and the seamen got into the lifeboats. Finally, they made it to a new island. Shackleton and five men then took another dangerous trip to get help. Their experience became one of history's most famous stories of keeping alive. 

Baobab (猴面包树) trees grow in mainland Africa, Madagascar and northwest Australia. Many scientistssay that the baobab began life in Africa before (appear) elsewhere. Now, a study shows that there were baobabs in Madagascar, 21 million  (year) ago. 

Scientists studied the genomes(基因组) of each of the eight baobab species. A genome  (be)a complete group of DNA in a living thing. *DNA is a chemical that carries the orders for making and maintaining(维持)  living thing.

August 8, the San Diego Zoo in California held a welcome party for the first pandas to come here in more than 20 years. It was the first 1 for Yun Chuan, a 5-year-old male (雄性), and Xin Bao, a 4-year-old female. China has loaned(借出) the two pandas to the zoo as part of a project to 2 the species. Pandas are thought to be in danger.

People stopped the building of a water projectin June, 2024. They did so to protect a groupof swallows(燕子). These swallows live on the earthen cliff (土质悬崖) along the Yongding River, and they would like to live somewhere quiet. Bird lovers were happy with the decision. 

The cliff faces west. It is over 30 meters long and nearly 20 meters high. It looks bright under the sunlight, making a beautiful picture. * From around 100 meters away, people can see about 200 caves in the cliff, each about the size of an apple, with brown swallows flying in and out. 

"I visited this group of swallows some weeks ago. In recent years, around late April to early May, they come here to build their homes, and then fly away by early July, " said Zhao Yue, an official. "The water project started in June, but it already stopped its activities last week. "

"I have met bird lovers during my work. I understand their feelings. The water project is important to the city, but we will still do something to save the birds. We are thinking about changing the project's route (路线) to make su re the swallows can keep living in the cliff in the future, " said Zhao.
