Lions are an important part of African life and culture. However, they are in danger. People are taking over their land for farms and cities. Sometimes people kill lions to protect their animals. Let's protect the grasslands and find better ways for people and lions to live together. Every lion counts.

Once, there lived a poor boy called Ma Liang who loved drawing.

One night, he dreamed that an old man gave him a magic paintbrush. The paintbrush could bring pictures to life. The old man told him that he must only use it to help poor people.

Ma Liang woke up the next morning and found the magic paintbrush right there on his desk.

"What do you want me to paint?" asked Ma Liang.

"Paint me a golden mountain so I can collect gold and be even richer," replied the man.

Ma Liang tricked the rich man and painted a deep sea. The rich man was very angry and demanded (命令) Ma Liang paint the mountain.

Ma Liang painted the mountain far away across the sea.

"Paint me a ship!" the rich man ordered. Smiling to himself, Ma Liang painted the ship and the rich man jumped into it.

Ma Liang painted a huge wave which destroyed the ship and the rich man was never seen in the village again.

Ma Liang lived a long and happy life. He continued to use the magic paintbrush to help poor people and everyone loved him.

School Trip

Lee and Jim were good friends. One day, they were going through a desert.

On the way, they had a fight. Jim felt sad. He said nothing but wrote in the sand, "Today my best friend hurt (伤害) me."

They kept on walking and got to a small lake. They decided to take a bath. They jumped into the lake. But all of a sudden, Jim couldn't move. Something caught him in the water. He had trouble breathing. He cried, "Help!" Luckily, Lee heard him in time and saved him. Jim wrote on a flat stone, "Today, my best friend saved my life."

Picture this: You're on a small island in the UK. You share the island with a few other people, and over 43,000 puffins (海鹦). Your job? Count those puffins.

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (WTSWW) is looking for volunteers to work on Skomer Island, an island off the coast of Wales that's just under 3 square kilometers in size. The island is home to many different kinds of birds.

Around the world, puffin populations are at risk. Puffins are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List, meaning they are at risk of extinction (灭绝). However, it's not all bad news. Every year, the WTSWW does a count of the number of the birds on the island. And in 2025, 43,626 puffins were seen.

This year, the WTSWW is looking for volunteers to help with this job. The volunteers will work for about three months at a time between March and September. The main job is counting puffins. The volunteers can work on the island for a long holiday. They will also help with daily management of the island and greet the 25,000 visitors who come each year. Although they won't be paid, the volunteers may be given between $275 and $550 to help with their stay on the island, and they will be able to live there for free. They will also have free travel to and from the island, as long as they're coming from or going to a place in the UK.

The Hukou Waterfall is a famous natural wonder located where the provinces of Shanxi and Shaanxi meet. It is the largest yellowish waterfall in the world and the (two) largest waterfall in China.

Its name, "Hukou", perfectly describes how the wide river (sudden) narrows (变狭窄) and then rushes down. Because of its special location, the area around Hukou has been important place for cultural and economic exchanges across our country.

Ms Jones' class was going to put on a play, Alice in Wonderland. The students took turns reading lines to the teacher, hoping to get their favourite parts.

Andy controlled the lights and sound, and Sam managed the stage curtain (帘子). When Ella came on stage, Shirley was not very pleased. Since Ella always seemed self-important, Shirley had never liked her. But seeing her act with natural confidence, Shirley thought, "Ms Jones was right. Ella is perfect for the role."
