I am a polar bear living on the southeast coast of Greenland. My grandma once told me, "Sea ice is our world. "In the old days, sea ice stretched far and wide. We hunted seals（海豹）, travelled around and raised our babies on the sea ice. For us, life without sea ice meant no future at all. 

But now the earth is getting warmer. Each spring the sea ice melts earlier; each autumn it comes back later. Because of this, there are more ice-free days than before and we can hardly hunt seals on the ice. At the same time, our world keeps becoming smaller. For a long time, we have feared that we would lose our home completely. 

Yet, we refuse to wait and suffer. We have found ways to survive. Some of us are moving north, following the retreating（逐渐消融的）sea ice. Others, including me, depend on glacier（冰川）ice. The thick glacier ice acts much like sea ice, offering us places to rest and hunt. Besides, we have changed what we eat. When seals become harder to catch, we search the coast for dead animals or bird eggs. We even hunt animals on land, something my grandma never dreamed of. In this way, we have gained more time to live. 

Will we be safe in the future? No one knows. But we clearly know that true hope lies in humans. If humans take action to protect our planet, sea ice will return. Then we can live freely once again. 

In 2022, I volunteered to teach at a primary school after graduation. Hidden deep in the Xinjiang mountains, the school serves children from nomadic（游牧）families. Many of them had never left the mountains. 

Without enough 1 , I felt unsure about myself and my teaching. The first class turned out to be a 2 . Some kids talked, some threw erasers, and others even hid under desks. I tried to keep calm and explained the class rules 3 . But it did not work. I felt so sad and even thought about 4 .

Look at the picture! It is a sunny Saturday morning.  sun is shining brightly. Birds are singing happily in the trees. 

I am sitting on the bench near the lake, drawing a picture of the beautiful scenery. Beside me, my best friend Kelvin  (play) the guitar. 

Some girls are dancing happily  the grass and other girls are flying kites. A group of  (boy) are playing football. They run fast and laugh loudly!

Near the tree, an old foreigner is reading a book. He waves and says hello to us  he sees Kelvin and me. At first we feel a bit shy, but we encourage (we) and greet him back. 

The old man is very (friend). He walks to us and talks with us in simple English. He tells us, "China is a great country! If I have a chance to visit China again, I (invite) my family here. "

March 22 is World Water Day. You must know that water keeps your body healthy. 

How does water help your mind?

Water makes you relax. The soft sound of running water makes you feel peaceful and helps you sleep better.  That is why you often get good ideas when you take a shower or enjoy a bath. 

Why does water have this power?

One reason goes back to our long history.  Because of it, we naturally feel safe and at home near water. Besides, water touches our senses. Imagine standing by a lake: your eyes see the sunlight dancing on the water, your ears hear the soft sound of running river, and your skin feel the wet cool wind in the air. 

How can you connect with water?

You don't need a special trip.  At the beach, you can swim in the sea or watch the waves roll in. At home, you can take a warm bath. Or on rainy days, you can step out for a moment and feel the rain on your skin. These little moments fill you with joy and ease. 

During a heavy rainstorm, you may see a bright light in the sky. It is lightning. Many people think lightning comes down from the sky. In fact, lightning can move in different ways: downwards, upwards and even between clouds. 

Let's learn about the most common kind: cloud-to-ground lightning. Here is how it forms. Inside a storm cloud, tiny bits of ice and water crash（撞击）into each other. This separates（分离）electrical charges（电荷）. Some are positive（+）, and others are negative（-）. Negative charges gather at the bottom of the cloud, while positive charges appear on the ground below. The two charges attract each other, so the negative charges move downwards through the air. When they get near the ground, the positive charges rise up to meet them. When they meet, a bright flash of lightning forms. It happens so fast that it looks like the lightning is falling down from the sky. 

Lightning looks cool, but it is very dangerous and can be lethal. Lighting is about five times hotter than the surface of the Sun. This extreme heat can set fire to trees or houses in seconds. Also, lightning can spread through the ground and hurt people or kill them even if they are not hit directly. 

Since lightning is very dangerous, we need to tell how far away the storm is. Lightning always goes with thunder（雷）, yet light moves much faster than sound. If you hear thunder less than 30 seconds after seeing lightning, the storm is very close. If there is a long wait between lightning and thunder, the storm is still far away. 

Tibetan antelopes(藏羚羊)are lovely animals. They live on high land, mainly in and around Kekexili. In the late 1980s, their number dropped from nearly 200, 000 to less than 20, 000 because of poaching(偷猎). 

To save them, a brave man named Sonam Dargye set up a team in 1992. The team watched over the land all year round, even in freezing weather as cold as-40°   C. They lived in simple tents and often went hungry, but they never gave up. Sadly, Sonam Dargye lost his life while fighting against poachers in 1994. In 1997, a wildlife protection station was built to remember him. 

Many young people have followed in his footsteps. In 2024, 24-year-old Tsering Lozang joined the station. He grew up hearing many stories about Sonam Dargye. Tsering Lozang chose to stay on this land to protect the antelopes. For him, this is more than a job—it is a way to carry on the hero's spirit. 

Luckily, modern technology has greatly helped wildlife protection. In the past, rangers(巡护员)had no phone service in the wild. Now, 5G network allows them to send messages and photos in time, helping them find signs of poaching much faster. Besides, video calls make medical help possible. Rangers can connect with doctors to save sick antelopes in time. 

Today, the number of Tibetan antelope in Hoh Xil has grown to over 70, 000. Thanks to both heroes and technology, the spirit of protection lives on, and this beautiful land continues to shine. 

Let's guess what the plant is. 

It grows in warm and rainy places. Most people think it is a tree, but it is actually a kind of grass. There are about 1, 500 kinds of it around the world. It grows very fast. After coming out of the ground, some species can grow almost 1 meter a day! Most other plants grow much more slowly, only a few centimeters (cm) a day. 

Its stems (茎) are strong yet light. Over 1, 000 years ago, people used them to build bridges, such as the famous Anlan Suspension Bridge in Dujiangyan. The bridge could carry people and heavy loads (货物) safely. Even today, in some parts of Asia, workers still use its stems to build traditional scaffolds (脚手架). 

The plant is good for the earth. It is a renewable resource. When its stems are cut, new ones grow back quickly from the same roots. So we can use it without harming nature. Its roots hold the soil together, which helps to stop the ground from being washed away by rain. Besides, it takes in CO₂ and helps the earth stay cool. 

It's the favorite food of giant pandas. Now you must know the answer. Yes, it's bamboo!

I respect my grandma deeply. She used to be a doctor. Now she is 1 , but she is always ready to help others. 

One winter morning, we were taking a walk in the park. Suddenly, my grandma stopped. "The girl looks 2 . She is taking quick, short breaths. " Grandma said, looking at a girl sitting on the bench(长椅) nearby. Her face went white and she was3 fast.

How to Be a Good Traveller

Travelling is fun. You can see new places and meet new people. But to make your trip happy for everyone, follow these simple rules.

 When you visit a new place, people may have different customs (风俗). Learn about them before you go. For example, in some countries, you need to take off your shoes before entering a house. Showing respect makes local people feel good.

Keep quiet in public (公共的) places. Don't make loud noises in museums or on buses.  Remember, many people come to enjoy peace and quiet.

Protect the environment (环境). Always put your rubbish into a bin. Don't draw on walls or pick flowers in parks. Keep the place clean for the next visitors. 

 When buying tickets or getting on a bus, wait for your turn. Don't push others. A little patience shows you are polite. If everyone follows this rule, waiting in line becomes faster and fairer.

Follow these tips and you will be a good traveller. Your trip will be more fun for you and for others.

② One common use of AI is in our phones. When you ask your phone a question, AI helps it understand your voice. Then it searches the internet for the best answer. For example, you can ask, "What will the weather be like tomorrow?" AI will find the weather report and tell you. You can also ask AI to play music, set alarms, or open apps. This saves you time and makes things easier.

③ AI is also helpful in our homes. Smart speakers can turn on lights, play news, or order food online. Some smart fridges can tell you when you are running out of milk or eggs. AI can even help keep your home safe. Smart cameras can send a message to your phone if they see a stranger near your door.

④ AI is also changing how doctors work. They use AI to look at X-ray pictures. AI can find problems faster than a human eye. This helps sick people get help earlier. Scientists also use AI to study new medicines.

⑤ As you can see, AI is a powerful tool. It helps us in many ways, from phones to hospitals. But AI still needs humans to guide it. We must use it carefully. With AI, our future will be smarter and more exciting.

Do you know that some insects can make light? They are called fireflies (萤火虫). Fireflies are small, but they are amazing. They live in many places around the world. You can see them in summer nights, especially near rivers or forests.

Fireflies make light from their bodies. They use this light to talk to each other. For example, a male firefly flashes light to find a female. The female flashes back to say, "I am here." This is how they find a partner. Each kind of firefly has its own flash pattern, like a secret code.

    ▲     When a firefly feels danger, its light is different. It can warn other animals to stay away. Some fireflies even use their light to catch small insects for food. Their light is very useful for living.

Fireflies do not live very long. Most of them live only for a few weeks. During that time, they must find food and a partner. The baby fireflies live under the ground for many months before they grow up.

Sadly, fireflies are disappearing now. People use too many lights at night. This makes it hard for fireflies to see each other's flashes. Also, people cut down trees and build houses where fireflies live. We need to protect these little wonders of nature.

Next time you see a small light in the dark summer night, remember-it might be a firefly saying hello.
