However, self-driving cars aren't perfect. If something unexpected happens, self-driving cars can't take action as fast as a human driver. Also, during extreme weather conditions like heavy snow, self-driving cars would fail to see the lines on the road. It might lead to an accident. The car's computer system could also get hacked (非法入侵) by someone, causing it to break down.

It is clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self-driving cars a common and safe sight on our roads. And China is taking the lead in making this happen.

Thailand's national animal is the elephant. The country designated (规定) March 13th as National Elephant Day. On this year's National Elephant Day, a news story about an elephant and a girl spread widely on the Internet.

A farmer didn't want to buy an elephant because he thought it was too expensive. He stole a baby elephant from the forest. But soon, the baby elephant wasn't feeling well. The farmer knew that the young elephant needed help, so he brought him to Gabby Wild's animal hospital.

Jeff used to be a boring boy and was not  in anything. However, things changed when he visited his uncle's farm one day. He noticed a little pig and asked his uncle  he could keep it as a pet.

"Are you sure you can take good care of it?" his uncle asked.

Why do people get more colds and flu when it's cold outside? In a new study, scientists have found the answer. That is, the cold air breaks the immune response (免疫反应) in our noses.

The nose is an important part of our body's immune system. When a virus goes into the nose, the cells (细胞) in the nose will create billions of simple copies of themselves called extracellular vesicles (EVs).

"EVs can't divide like cells, but they are like little cells that can kill the viruses," said Benjamin Bleier, the researcher of the study from Harvard Medical School. "They are like little arms that catch the viruses when you breathe them in." Then, the viruses on EVs will be expelled from our body as snot (鼻涕).

However, when cold weather hits, the nose's "superpower" becomes less powerful. The study found that when the temperature in the nose drops by 5℃, nearly 50% of the billions of EVs will be useless. Cold air makes people catch viruses more easily because "you've lost half of your immunity (免疫力)", said Bleier.

This is why we should wear masks in winter. "Wearing masks can not only protect us from viruses, but it's also like wearing a sweater on our nose," Bleier said. The warmer you keep your nose, the better it works to fight against viruses.

In the future, Bleier expects to see the development of nose medicine that build upon this new finding. Scientists may find a way to "fool the nose into thinking it has just seen a virus", Bleier said.

Do you know that people spent almost six years making the TV show Journey to the West (1987)? Now it might take just a few months to do that with the  of Sora.

What is Sora? It is an AI model that was created by the company OpenAI. Compared with what we have  before, Sora can create videos more easily. This AI model is able to turn words  videos. For example, if you give a few  to Sora, like "Monkey King is fighting with a monster in a forest", Sora will make a video for you very soon.

Sora has become a hot topic on the Internet,  it can now only create videos which are up to one minute long. Sora can improve the whole process of making videos with time and less money.

However, there are also worries. Some video makers are afraid that Sora may take over  jobs. And some people  that Sora might be used to make videos to cheat. It seems  to choose what to believe while people are watching videos. Maybe people need to use Sora  and wisely. As the saying goes, "Technology is a double-edged sword (双刃剑)." The most important thing is that we should make good use of it.

Jiang Shumei from Heilongjiang Province learned the first Chinese character (汉字) at the age of 59. Now, at the age of 87, she is a writer of 6 books.

Have you ever seen a colorful rainbow in the sky after it rains? That happens when the sunlight goes through the water in the air. The sun shines again after rain, and you see red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple light in the sky — a rainbow.

The sun's light is actually made of many colors that don't all move the same way. When this light goes into a raindrop (雨滴), it bends (弯曲) and separates into all these colors like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple.

After that, these colors hit the back inside of the raindrop and bounce (反弹) back. This makes them bend again and spread out, making a shape like part of a circle, which is the rainbow we see. Purple bends a lot, but red not so much.

So, why do rainbows look like a curve? It's because the raindrops are not all the same distance from us. They make a circle shape around a line from the sun to our eyes, creating that curve.

Stand with your back to the sun, because a rainbow appears opposite the sun. If the sun is too high, no rainbow can appear. But sometimes, you might even see two rainbows at once! That's when the sunlight bounces twice inside the raindrops.

Next time you see a rainbow, remember it's just the sun and rain working together to make something really special and pretty in the sky.

Explore theSurroundings

No need to be in a forest to explore nature. Start at the areas around you, for example, look at the corners of your backyard, types of trees and leaves from the green. You might be amazed at how much wildness you can find in it!

Catch a Bug (虫子)

You can let the kids use a small container (容器) or bag to collect bugs. After the bug hunting, you can watch the tiny insects and know about them, and then set them free into the wild!

Plant a Flower

Start by digging a hole and exploring what's under the soil. If your child is able for it, give him his own shovel (铲子) and watch him go to work. As your child starts digging, ask him what he can see. After the hole and the exploring part, let him plant a flower, and remind him to look after it every day.

Collect Leaves & Explore

Autumn is the best season for it! Collect all the different kinds of leaves, and discuss about the colors, texture (纹理) and shapes. Look carefully and draw what you see. You and your child can imagine you are scientists, observing (观察) and writing down what you see. Hope you will enjoy it!

Last summer, I joined a community volunteer program to help clean up the local river. At first, I felt1 because I had never had such an experience before. Our team leader, Mr. Wilson, handed each of us gloves and a rubbish picker, saying, "Every small action 2 a big difference."
