Today, our roads are filled with cars. This creates a common problem. Many parents think it is unsafe for their children to walk to school. They see heavy traffic every day. Because of this fear, they choose to drive their children. This leads to fewer children walking or cycling.

This situation worries many people. They believe our streets should be safe for everyone, not just for cars. A long time ago, cities began to change a lot. To make way for cars, many old neighborhoods and parks were destroyed. These places were once perfect for children to play.

However, some people tried to stop this change. A famous example is a Canadian journalist in the 1950s. She successfully fought to save a local park from becoming a road. She wanted her city to be a good place to live in. Her story inspired similar protests (抗议) in other countries.
