Host: Welcome to our programme! We're excited to have Liu Wenwen share her experience with the suona. Hello, Wenwen. Why did you choose to play the suona?

Liu: Actually I was born into a suona family. 

Host: How did you practice the suona when young?

Liu: In primary school, I got up at 4:00 am to practice it at home.  At the age of 8, my mother took me to big cities to learn from better teachers. To save money, we took the late-night train to Beijing and slept in the underpasses（地下通道）

Host: Did the hard situation last long? 

Liu:  I finally had my own teacher, the famous suona player Liu Ying, who gave me free classes. Thanks to her, I learned many new skills and had a deeper understanding of the suona.

Host: Could you share one of your unforgettable shows?

Liu: Sure! At the 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, I performed Riding the Wind with Zhang Jie and Zhou Enxu.

Liu: The powerful sounds of the suona should be heard by more people. To achieve this, I plan to try new ways to mix suona art with modern music.

Aeroponics is a way of growing plants in air or mist (水雾) without soil. It has a long history. Many people believe it is the future of plant growing. However, for a long time, this technology was only used in labs or big farms. Ordinary people could never try it by themselves. Now, with the world's first soil-free growing system on the desk, everyone can try this special way of planting easily at home.

At the 2025 Spring Festival Gala (春晚), a robot show called Yang-BOT amazed everyone. It was the world's first large AI-driven robot performance. A year later, in 2026, the Wu-BOT show took it to a new level. It was performed by robots from the Chinese company Unitree together with over 80 students from Henan.

On the stage, the robots did some very difficult Kung Fu moves. For example, they performed backflips (后空翻) and jumped nearly three meters high into the air. They also used their hands to wave wooden sticks, just like real Kung Fu masters. It was a wonderful mix of traditional Chinese culture and modern technology.

How could the robots be so "smart"? Wang Xingxing, the founder of Unitree Robotics, shared the secret. He said, "The robots practiced over 100 million times in a computer simulation（模拟）before they stepped onto the real stage. This is called ‘Reinforcement Learning.' It helps robots learn how to keep balance and finish difficult moves. Every single move was the result of hundreds of millions of tries in the computer."

The Wu-BOT show was a big step forward. In the past, robots only performed simple dances. But this time, all 26 robots acted on their own, without any outside help. Wu-BOT is more than just a show. It proves that Chinese-made robots are no longer just following orders. They are becoming faster and stronger. In fact, China is already ahead of the rest of the world in robotics. True, robots are still in the early stages, and don't have everyday uses yet. But when you look at what has happened in such a short time, you'll probably say, "The future is much closer than I expected."

A young man who once worked in coal mines received a doctor's degree from Beijing University of Technology in June, 2025. His graduation acknowledgements（致谢辞）have been widely spread online and moved many people, but he chose to remain anonymous. He refused to tell his name because he did not want to be noticed by the public.

In the acknowledgements, he explained he was born in a small mountain village. His family was poor. At the age of 9, he had to leave home to practice Kung Fu. When he was 12, he started working in a coal mine with his father. After taking the national college entrance exam twice, he finally passed the exam at 19 with a score over 500 and entered a college.

Later, he worked much harder to receive both a master's and a doctor's degree. For his doctor's degree, a lot of field research was required, so he stayed in Xinjiang for a year. The weather there was terribly cold and the living conditions were really hard, but he never stopped. While studying, he also took on many other difficult jobs during breaks. Once he worked in an electronic factory in Shanghai to support himself. 

He thanked his teacher for believing in him, helping him, and teaching him important research skills. He also thanked his family and friends who gave him support and love. He believes that doing your best and taking action is what really matters. "Don't be afraid," he said. "Just do things with courage and careful planning."

In the bright sun every spring, cities like Ruili and Jinghong, where many Dai people live, are full of color, laughter, and splashing (泼洒) water. People here are  the yearly Water-Splashing Festival.

Large groups of people get together . They splash water on each other. It is  that this can bring each other happiness and good luck.

The air is filled  the sound of drums, and traditional music. from home and abroad laugh and dance with local people. They all come together to  the Dai people's New Year.

Yao Zhi, a local young boy in Jinghong city of Xishuangbanna, said the Water-Splashing Festival is the most event for the Dai people. It also gives Xishuangbanna a very good  to show itself to the world every year. It is a key time for people of different ethnic (民族的) groups to share  cultures.

The best part of the Water-Splashing Festival is that it brings people close together. It doesn't matter  you are and where you are from, you will feel united (团结的), have fun and share happiness with each other at the festival.

Jia Yongting is a young girl. She lives in Changsha, Hunan. Recently she once again received a box full of fruit from Laizhou, Shandong. Sun Hongzheng, who is over 80 years old now, sent it to her. What's the story between the young girl and the old man?

One day in 2018 at an underground station in Beijing, Sun Hongzheng was looking at the map of the underground lines, worriedly and helplessly. Jia Yongting saw him and came over to offer help. Through talking, Jia got to know that he was from a village in Shandong. He had to be in the large city for something important on his own. He met some difficulties. Jia felt sorry for Sun, so she gave him some money and told her phone number to him so that he could call her when he was in trouble. As she often helps others, Jia quickly forgot about it.

Jia never expected that Sun would call her around two weeks later from his home. He asked her for her address so that he could send her some gifts as thanks for her help. Though at the beginning, Jia turned him down for the gift, Sun kept calling her for many times. Sun's actions finally touched Jia's heart. Since then, Jia has received different gifts from Sun every year. And each time Sun wrote a letter and sent it to her with the gifts.

①Greenland sharks are one of the most fascinating (吸引人的) animals in the sea. These sharks live in the cold waters of the Arctic (北极), where the temperature can be very low. And they are also known as the sleeper sharks.

②Greenland sharks are huge. They can grow up to 6. 4 meters long, which is as long as a school bus! Their bodies are thick and heavy and dark in color, which helps them blend (交融) into the dark sea depths.

③One of the most interesting things about Greenland sharks is how slowly they move. They swim much more slowly than other sharks you might know. This slow movement is because the cold water they live in slows down their metabolism (新陈代谢). It's like their body's "engine" that runs at a lower speed in the cold environment.

④Another amazing fact is their long life. Scientists have found that Greenland sharks can live for more than 400 years! They are one of the longest-living vertebrates (脊柱动物) on Earth. This long life is related to their slow growth. They grow only about 1 cm per year.

⑤Though Greenland sharks are huge, they are not a danger to humans. They mainly eat fish and sometimes even dead whales or other animals they find in the ocean. Because they live in deep, cold waters, we don't see them very often. However, with new scientific technology, we are starting to learn more about them. Protecting their cold-water homes is important to make sure these special sharks can keep living their long lives in the Arctic seas.

In a forest lived a tiny snail (蜗牛) named Manman. Although he is small in size, he had a strong wish for adventures (冒险). One day, he looked at a high mountain far away and decided, "I want to climb it and see the world on the other side."

However, his friends laughed at him. The Rabbit said, "You're too slow. The mountain is so high. Don't daydream!" The Tiger added, "The mountain road is hard. Stay here." But Manman wasn't discouraged. He started his journey on a sunny morning.

At first, the mountain road was flat, and he moved slowly but smoothly. Soon, a big rock blocked his way. It was hard for him, but he didn't give up. He climbed up the rock, falling several times but always getting back up. Higher up on his half way, it began to rain. The rain made the road even harder to climb. Cold and tired, he thought of the beautiful view on top and kept going. His shell (壳) got hurt, but he still didn't give up.

Finally, on a sunny day, Manman reached the top. Looking at the beautiful mountains and rivers, he cried with joy. Now, the animals in the forest admire him. Manman's story tells us to be brave and never give up.

In January 2023, a poetry class was given to students in a special way. The teachers brought the students out to the field. They guided the students to close their eyes and1 the wind and the sun. Then the students described what was in their minds one by one in just one sentence.2 , they wrote down their own poems and read them out to their classmates.

Scientists have reported the first known case of a cow using a tool. Veronika, a pet cow living in Austria,  (study) as she used a broom to scratch (瘙痒) different parts of her body. The study suggests that cows may be far  (smart) than many people believe.

Veronika is no ordinary cow, mainly  she is kept as a pet rather than a farm animal. This allows her to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. She often suffers from itchy spots (发痒的红点) on her skin caused by horsefly bites. According to her owner, Veronika  (pick) up sticks with her mouth and used them to scratch herself for years. She was never taught this skill; she  (simple) figured it out on her own.

A scientist who studies how animals solve problems, became interested after  (watch) a video of Veronika. She decided to run an experiment offering Veronika a broom  (see) if the cow could use it to scratch herself. Veronika lifted the broom with her tongue and  (tooth). Most of the time, she used the bristled end (刷毛端) to scratch her back skin. However, she switched  the stick end when scratching her belly (腹部).

This behavior was only observed in chimpanzees. It is believed many cows might have this intelligence but never get the chance to show it. Cows have lived alongside humans for thousands of years, so  real surprise is that we have never recognized their smartness before.
