Mr. Zhang: Our humanoid robots can move like humans. They are good at running, jumping, and even playing taiji. Moreover, they can follow spoken instructions and talk with people.

Reporter: Amazing! ?

Mr. Zhang: The biggest challenge is improving their intelligence. Though they can perform some simple tasks well, they still have problem making quick decisions in unexpected situations.

Reporter: I see! How is your team going to improve the humanoid robots?

Mr. Zhang: . First, we will train their communicating abilities to make them more helpful in daily use. Second, we will make robots lighter so that they can move fast. Third, we are going to develop smarter AI that allows robots to learn quickly.

Reporter: Now many teenagers dream to be robot engineers. What advice do you have for them?

Mr. Zhang: I suggest they start with basic subjects like math, physics, and computer programming. They can also join robot clubs or competitions to gain more hands-on experience. .

Have you ever spent hours watching short videos on TikTok and ended up feeling tired and empty? This feeling is closely related to a chemical in our brain called dopamine (多巴胺).

Dopamine plays a key role in motivation (动机) and makes us want to do things. It is released (释放) when we expect something rewarding, like eating good food, having fun, or achieving success. When we actually get what we want, even more dopamine is released, bringing us excitement and pleasure.

However, some easy and fun activities, such as eating junk food, playing online games, or scrolling (滚屏) through social media, cause a rapid release of dopamine. This is often called "cheap dopamine" because it brings quick excitement without real effort. But this feeling doesn't last long. Soon, you will need more of these activities to feel the same level of excitement. That's why you might end up scrolling for 45 minutes even though you only planned to watch one video.

The main problem with cheap dopamine is that it leads to a "dopamine crash". After the high level of pleasure, dopamine drops below normal, making you feel low, tired, and unable to focus. If you often seek cheap dopamine, your brain will feel it harder to enjoy activities that require effort—such as studying, finishing a project, or building good relationships. Over time, this may cause stress and anxiety because you are not reaching your goals.

The good news is that you can retrain your brain. Try to spend less time on cheap dopamine activities, especially in the morning. Don't use your phone right after you wake up. Instead, do something meaningful first, like reading books or doing homework. This helps your brain regain its natural balance and find joy in hard work. By doing so, you can experience true satisfaction from your own achievements.

③Experts have different opinions about this trend. Some see it as a positive change. Professor Zhao Weihua explains, "Young people are learning to reward themselves and find emotional support through consumption. When life moves fast, these small gifts to ourselves can give us energy and hope." Lu Yanxia, a psychologist (心理学家), also supports the idea. "A student who saves for a 160-yuan talk show ticket enjoys three weeks of hope, one night of fun, and many days of memory. That is much healthier than eating junk food when feeling sad."

④However, others remind us to be careful. Mr. Cao, an expert, points out, "The toy, the phone case and the concert ticket are tiny lights in a busy day, not big fires that burn your saving. Young people should plan their money wisely and set a clear budget (预算) for it."

⑤What's clear is that emotional consumption is more than a trend. It's a way for young people to please themselves and care for their mental well-being. So the next time you feel tired or down, remember you have many choices. You can take a deep breath, listen to a favorite song, or buy a small gift. Which one will you choose?

For two weeks, I had been a volunteer with the sea turtle protection team. During the day, my job was mainly cleaning up the beach, looking for turtle nests, and moving the eggs to a safe place to hatch (孵化). Every night I walked along the beach under the stars, hoping to find a turtle that needed help. But night after night, nothing happened. I started to wonder if my small efforts could really make a difference.

Then on the seventh night, something happened.

Just after midnight, our flashlights caught unusual tracks (痕迹)—messy and deep. My heart beat fast as we followed them. My friends and I followed the tracks. Under some big rocks, we saw a huge sea turtle was trapped in an old fishing net. The net cut deeply into her flipper (鳍状肢). She was breathing slowly, too weak to struggle anymore.

This was the moment I had been waiting for, but seeing her suffering, my excitement turned into fear—fear that we might be too late to save this life.

Carlos, our experienced leader, acted quickly. "You hold the light," he told me. "Keep the soft light on her eyes so that she can be calm." I tried my best to keep my hands still. Maria poured water over the turtle while Carlos carefully cut the net with a special tool. In the quiet night, the only sounds we could hear were the ocean waves and the turtle's heavy breathe.

As the net came off, the turtle slowly moved her injured flipper. It was then that I truly saw her—not as an animal to be saved, but as a life fighting to be free. When she finally moved into the sea, I didn't feel like a hero.

That night, I kept thinking. True protection doesn't only mean saving animals in danger but creating a world where they're never in danger at all. I hope for a world where every turtle swims freely in a safe ocean, and every volunteer arrives with no turtles left to save.
