There was a little kid who studied in the5th grade. Everyone in his class thoughtthat he was one of the silliest kids in his class. His grades were so bad that he himself thought the same. 

His report card showed his poor progress in his class but that didn't bother him. He used to say to his mom, "It doesn't matter very much. " His mother knew that her boy was not reaching his full potential at school. So, she set three rules for him to follow. First, he was allowed to watch only two TV shows per week. Second, he had to finish his homework before he could watch any TV or play outside. Third, he had to read two books from the library each week and write a book report on each of them. 

The kid felt upset about these new rules and tried very hard to talk his mother out of them but his mother stood firm. The kid couldn't go against his mother, so he had to follow those rules. Before long he saw the fruits of his hard work, when he was the only one who knew the answer to a question the teacher asked the class. 

All his classmates and teacher were surprised that a kid who used to get the lowest score was now able to correctly answer such a hard question. The kid realized that his knowledge came from the books he was reading. He began to believe that if he could learn just a few facts from books at the library, he could learn anything. 

The kid continued on his path of growth and became an academic leader in his school. The kid had learned to read books and realized that he could change his love for reading into learning. The mother knew what her boy was able to do and decided to give him a way he could do it. The boy who was thought to be the most stupid kid of class in the 5th grade became a world famous doctor. 

That boy is Benjamin Carson who is now a famous doctor, writer and politician. 

OpenAI has introduced a new technology that uses artificial intelligence(Al) to create high-quality videos from text descriptions. 

The company showed a few short, vivid and realistic videos, including mammoths moving forward in a snowy field and people doing everyday things like reading a book or walking down a city street. 

OpenAI calls the new system Sora. "Sora is able to generate complex scenes with different kinds of characters, specific types of motion, and correct and true details of the subject and background based on simple text prompts, " theChatGPT makers said. 

The new tool isn't the first of its kind. Other companies, including Google, Meta and AIstart-up Runway, have built their own text-to-video AI models. But AI analysts said the length and quality of Sora videos went beyond expectation and were outstanding in all of the models. 

Sora will first be available to a small group of artists and filmmakers as well as researchers who will try to find out what can be improved about it. 

Mutale Nkonde, an analyst, thinks the idea that anyone can easily turn text into video is exciting. She, however, worries that these tools might be put into some hateful information and it may influence the livelihoods of people in many industries. 

Arvind Narayanan, a professor of computer science, said Sora is likely to become a quick and inexpensive way of creating online misinformation. The high-quality videos it produced would make it even harder for people to distinguish what is real on the Internet. 

Putting watermarks on AI-produced videos and images, as many companies have said they would do, might help, according to Siwei Lyu, the director of the Media Forensic Lab at the University at Buffalo. But in many cases, watermarks could be removed or altered, he said. 

On Sunday, China released the world's first set of high-precision geological mapsof the moon. These maps were primarily based on the scientific exploration data from theChang'e Project. The highest precision maps can vividly present the craters on the lunar surface, the rocks and minerals found on our Earth's satellite. and the various geological activities the moon has undergone. 

The internationally used geological maps of the moon obtained through the US Apollo program are no longer capable of reflecting the latest research findings in the past few decades and can no longer satisfy the requirements of future scientific research and lunar exploration, said the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS). 

In the past, when humans were unable to land on the moon, observations through telescopes were limited by distance. However, the arrival of probes, whether they are orbiting the moon or capable of landing softly, has significantly reduced this distance. 

The atlas is a collection of the outcomes from the earlier stage of China's scientific exploration of the moon. Its development demands well-tested methods, equipment for accurate data collection and full exploration coverage. The atlas contains a geological map of the entire moon, a map of the distribution of rock types throughout the moon, an outline of lunar tectonics, and 30 standard sub-schematic geological maps of the moon. 

Since 2012 a team of researchers from different organizations in China has been dedicated to this task for more than 10 years. 

According to the CAS, the atlas provides crucial information and scientific reference for formulating objectives and implementing the lunar exploration project. It also fills gaps inChina's compilation and research of geological maps of the moon and exoplanets. The release of the atlas represents a form of information sharing and support for all countries interested or involved in lunar exploration. The maps are put into a Chinese-built digital platform. Scientists will keep collecting higher-precision ones to serve lunar research, education, and China's exploration project in the future.
