How do you feel when you have to make a speech in front of class?How do you feel when you go to a birthday party? Do you get really shy?

Shyness means feeling nervous or frightened when you' re around other people. Experts have found that more than 80 percent of middle school students feel afraid to be the center of attention. Some kids are born shy. Some become shy later because of their life experiences.

It's OK if it takes you a while to feel yourself again when you go to a new place or meet new people. In fact, everybody gets a little shy sometimes. It's just a case of how much.

Most people have red faces and talk in broken sentences when they get shy. But some become so shy that they won't go to a restaurant because they are too nervous to order and pay the bill.Some are afraid of meeting new people, so they seldom go outside. This kind of shyness can be bad for a person.

If shyness doesn't stop you from doing something you want to do, being shy isn't a very big problem. Some experts say shy people are quieter and cleverer because they think more and talk less.Shy people are also good at working with others because they think more for other people. Some great people in history were shy, too.

You see, being shy isn't all bad. But remember not to let good chances pass by just because of it! If you have to sing a song at a birthday party or practise your spoken English in front of others,just do it! There's nothing to be afraid of.

Do you feel stressed quite often? How do you deal with your stress? See a doctor? Perhaps you don't need to do that if you can get into nature.

◆ Match your daily routine to the sun. 

 Wake up when the sun rises and rest when it sets. Besides, try to be bathed in sunshine on sunny mornings — sunlight gives you energy for the day! When the sun sets, take breaks from your work.

Find somewhere green to enjoy your time. You don't need a big forest! Any green place is all right——a garden, a park or even a tree near you. Spend 5 to 20 minutes relaxing or eating there every day.

◆ Try"grounding" or"earthing".

"Grounding" or"earthing" means"going to touch grass". There are healthy microbes(微生物) in the earth.When you are at a picnic outdoors, take off your shoes and put your feet in the grass.(Be careful not to step on anything painful!)

◆ Enjoy nature mindfully.

Nature gives people long-term happiness.Walk into nature to watch the plants and wildlife. Or just close your eyes to feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Breathe deeply and connect your mind with the beauty of nature.

Cooking is fun, but sometimes accidents may happen. If you burn yourself,cut your finger or pour out hot oil carelessly, don't panic! Here are some things you should do when the accidents happen. 

When you get burned by fire, hot oil or steam, cool the burn at once under cold running water for 10~15 minutes. Then cover it with a clean cloth or bandage. Don't use ice or butter! If the burn is serious, you'd better see a doctor at once. Don't break the blisters(水泡) or touch them often; this can make the pain worse.

If you are cut by knives or sharp(锋利的) tools, wash the cut with clean water and soap. Press a clean cloth on it to stop bleeding. Then cover it with a bandage. If the cut is deep or won't stop bleeding, go to the hospital. Don't use alcohol(酒精) directly on deep cuts or touch them with a dirty hand.

If something in the pan catches fire, turn off the stove at once. Cover the pan with a metal lid(锅盖). Without oxygen(氧气), the fire will go out soon. If the fire becomes bigger or covers other things,leave the kitchen and call 119 as soon as possible. Do remember, don't pour water on an oil fire or try to carry a burning pan outside.

To stay away from cooking accidents, we must always be careful when using knives or fire.Most cooking accidents are small if we treat them in the right way. Knowing these tips will help us stay safe in the kitchen!

Everyone feels sad or worried sometimes. One useful way to deal with bad feelings is to make a"calm-down jar". Here's how to make and use one.

What you need:

A clean glass jar with a lid, warm water, glitter glue(闪光胶水) or loose glitter(闪光粉) and food colouring(optional) 

Steps:

1. Fill the jar almost to the top with warm water.

2. Add two spoons of glitter glue or a spoon of loose glitter.

When I was a little child, I was very shy and afraid to speak in public. Iused to hide behind my parents  I met strangers. My teacher noticed my problem and had a talk with me. She told me not to doubt myself and encouraged me to be confident. 

Although I was nervous at first, I tried to answer questions in class. Little by little, I learned to express my feelings and make new friends. I also learned that growing means facing challenges bravely and solving problems my own.

Now I am not shy anymore. I am proud of my changes. My parents are also happy to see my progress. They tell me that they are proud of me. I know I  have a long way to go,I will keep trying to overcome difficulties and become a better person.

Growing up is not always easy, but it is full of hope. We should learn to be thankful value the time we spend with our family and friends.

One day, I saw my grandma doing paper-cutting. She made many beautiful and animals with red paper. I asked if (是否) she could teach me, and she happily. 

At first, I was  because it was hard for me to hold one scissors and follow the lines. But my grandma was patient. She showed me  to cut slowly. She also showed me some easy examples to . 

Through my practice, my skills of doing paper-cutting got . I started to understand how so make my own designs (设计). Soon, my room was full of colourful works, and I was so proud of myself. And then I chose the best one for my grandma and gave it to  as a birthday present. My grandma was so excited when she the gift. 

Doing paper-cutting becomes my favourite . It is interesting and exciting. I never knew paper-cutting was so wonderful. It always brings me . Now I'm in a paper-cutting club and I hope to meet more friends with the same love.

Hello! My name is Mark. I live in an old and small town. It has a history of over 200 years. There's a square in the town centre. Every year, there is a music festival in the square. It's great, and many people come to the festival.

On the square, there's a museum. A lot of old photos of the town are in it. People can learn about the history of the town from them. There are some restaurants on the square. They sell delicious food at very good prices. There is also a supermarket, a bookshop and an Art Club on the square. The bookshop is between the supermarket and the museum. The Art Club is next to the museum and my father works in it.

Next to the square, there is a park. Across from the park, there is a big hotel. It's the best hotel in the town.

I love my town. I know every place here. I hope it can be better and better.

When you're bored, you may watch short videos (视频). But a new study says this will make you feel even more bored. 

Scientists from the University of Toronto Scarborough (多伦多士嘉堡) in Canada did an experiment (实验). They asked 159 people to take part in it. Scientists made the experiment into two parts, Part 1 and Part 2. 

In Part 1, people watched s 10-minute video. They had to watch it until the end. In Part 2, they could choose so seven short videos. Each short video was five minutes long. They had 10 minutes to watch these short videos. They could skip (跳过) parts between the videos. 

After they finished Part 2, the scientists asked the people how they felt during the experiment. Everyone liked the first part better than the second part. 

Why did this happen? Being bored relates to(与…有关)attention. If we focus on a video, we won't feel so bored. So, it's better to watch a video carefully. Don't skip videos too fast.
