Mount Taishan is a very important mountain in the (在东边) part of China. It is famous for its (大自然) beauty. It's fantastic. (百万)of people come to visit it every year. 

More (比) two months ago, I climbed Mount Taishan to see the sunrise with a few friends. The sunrise of Mount Taishan is one of its four (奇观). 

After a short (讨论), we decided to start at 11:00 pm so that we could (到达) the South Gate to Heaven at around 3:00 am, about hours before the sunrise. (虽然) we were tired and it was still (黑暗), we felt excited. We found that we were not (独自). Many people were waiting for the sunrise there too. However, it began to rain. We knew we could not see the sunrise. What a pity!

Egypt is a country in North Africa. It's one of countries in the world. The ancient Egyptians created many wonderful buildings like the Khufu Pyramid(金字塔). It's one of the greatest  in the world. It receives  visitors every year. The ancient Egyptians  the pyramid without the help of machines we have today. People had a heated  about how the ancient Egyptians built it. But it is still a secret now!

In China, an increasing number of young people are realising the importance of the country's history and culture. 

Finding more statues(雕像)

Xu Danyang, an archaeologist, found a bronze statue at the Sanxingdui site(遗址) inSichuan. It shows a man kneeling(跪下) with his head turned. "I felt like I was witnessing(见证) history in person, " Xu toldXinhua. 

Making maps for protection

Wu Yunjie was born in the 1990s. By making a special map to show the best sites in China, Wu is now famous on the Internet. He marked more than 10, 000 places like old temples(寺庙), towers, bridges and houses. Each site with colourful dots showed how special and important it is. Wu hopes to share this amazing map with everyone who loves history and culture like him. 

Making explanations(讲解) fun

Zhang Bin is a tour guide at Emperor QinShi Huang's Mausoleum Site Museum(秦始皇帝陵博物院) in Xi' an. He works to answer visitors' questions about the famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses.  Zhang often uses the traditional Chinese comedic performance(喜剧表演) art of xiangsheng, or crosstalk in his explanations.

Have you ever been to Iceland?  How about Norway or Finland?  Maybe you've travelled to northern Russia or Canada. These are some of the best places to see one of our planet's most beautiful natural phenomena(现象). What are we talking about? The Northern Lights, of course!

The Northern Lights appear as beautiful colours in the night sky. The most common colour of the Northern Lights is green. However, they can also be red, pink, yellow or purple. 

What causes the Northern Lights?  Like all the natural lights on the earth, they come from the sun. Sometimes, the sun has big storms and gives off electrically charged particles(带电粒子). When the electrically charged particles reach the earth, some of them pass through the air around our planet. They then collide(碰撞)with the gases(气体) around the earth, which causes beautiful lights with colours. 

The colours of the Northern Lights have to do with the height. For example, when electrically charged particles collide with gases less than150 miles from the earth's surface, they produce green light. When the collision happens higher than 150 miles, they make red light. 

Over time, many people have tried to explain the Northern Lights. Some cultures have ancient stories about them. Today, however, we know the science behind the Northern Lights, and people travel thousands of miles each year hoping to see them. Many say it's a magical experience!

I enjoy holidays. Holidays are a wonderful time (travel)  around  and experience something new  , I have never thought of myself as a traveller of adventure during holidays. And I have never gone hiking(徒步旅行). 

Things changed last year. I had a trip Georgia alone. Every traveller I met there told me I couldn't miss a hike in the Great Caucasus, so I decided to have try the next day. 

I woke up early that morning. When I was having breakfast at a restaurant, I met a nice couple. They just went on the hike the day before. So I asked them  they could give me some good advice. They told me there were two hiking trails(路线) and they suggested (choose) the trail on the left side of the mountain instead of following the main one. According to them, the main trail was very steep(陡峭的), but the other one was much (good). I followed their advice and enjoyed the hike very much. I also got a (feel) of success when I reached the top of the mountain. Since then, I (go) on many other hikes in the Great Caucasus. 

There is a traveller of adventure inside all of (we). And one good experience will help you know that. 

Taihang Grand Canyon National Forest Park is a natural wonder. It lies in the part of Huguan County. There are some sweet springs, silver chains-like waterfalls, deep pools, clear streams, interesting karst caves(洞穴) and forests spreading all over the mountains. 

I always remember the journey to go there. In the early morning, we began  the canyon. At first, the canyon was silent. With more and more people coming, the canyon became noisy. There were so many trees and we didn't know most of them, Some along the paths told us something about different sights. We heard the loud waterfalls we were far away from them. When we got near, we  cool at once. The waterfalls were high and pretty. We also visited some other sights and had great fun there. 

Last year, my family and I wanted to go on a vacation. We decided to travel as far as possible. Finally, we found a beautiful1 and we chose it without thinking. It's a 2 city in South Devon—Plymouth. 

After a long drive, we 3 there and went to Mount Batten Beach, From the car park to the beach, it took us about five minutes to4 there. We enjoyed all kinds of great views of the beach and fresh air when walking down. We stayed at the Mount Batten, a sandy beach where there were many people5 in the sea till late in the evening. 

The next day,6 were excited to see more places in Plymouth and drove straight to the beautiful West Hoe Park. West Hoe Park is a beautiful green park7 a large place for children to play. There were lots of fun 8 for children to have a wonderful time. We had a peaceful camping in the park 9 there were lots of people. Both my brother and I did not want to leave the 10 until our parents called us to leave because it was too late. 

The last day of our trip was the most exciting of all. It was worth 11 most of the time on the most beautiful beach. All the kids in Plymouth almost loved it. We made some new12 and had so much fun with the kids playing by the sea. 

Everyone here enjoyed a 13 life. During this vacation, I felt 14 relaxed. And I found that sometimes we should taste the enjoyable time of life to 15 our stress(压力). No matter where you go, just have fun and forget all your stress. 

A Theme Park for Fall Outing

Here's an interview with two classmates, Jenny and Tom, discussing their choices for the class fall outing to a theme park. 

◆Have you thought about which theme park we should visit for the class fall outing? 

Jenny: Yes, Adventure World. It has huge kinds of attractions like roller coasters, water rides, and even an animal exhibit.  I think it'll keep the whole class pleased. 

Tom: That's a great choice! I'm considering Fun Land. It's smaller, but it offers a lot of interactive (互 动) experiences, like virtual reality(虚拟现实) games and live performances. 

◆What do you think of the location? 

Jenny: Adventure World is about two hours away by bus, which is a bit far for a trip, but I think the attractions make it worth(值得的) the drive. Besides, the scenery(风景) along the way could be nice. 

Tom: Fun Land is only an hour away from school, so it's more convenient. 

◆Have you checked the cost? 

Jenny: Yes, Adventure World offers a group discount(打折) for schools, so the ticket price isn't too high. 

Tom: The ticket price of Fun Land is lower, but the food and other activities inside, like the VR games, are more expensive. We might need to bring some money for food or other things.

Jenny: Adventure World has a great safety record(记录). There' re lifeguards(救生员) for all activities. I also noticed there is a first-aid station near the entrance. 

Tom: Fun Land is also really good with safety. I've heard it's very strict with safety checks before anyone can get on the rides. 

Which theme park do you like better, Adventure World or Fun Land? Why? (回答不超过15词)

The 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature went to the South Korean writer Han Kang. October 10th, the writer was awarded the prize for her "poetic prose(诗意的散文)". She is the (one) South Korean writer to win the prize. 

Han (keep) writing since her first prose came out in the 1990s. One of her (good) works is The Vegetarian. It tells the story of a woman's decision to stop (eat) meat and her family's worry about her mental health. She tries to be free.  novel was also translated into English and other languages. 

A question (mention) many times in her works: If you were able to live as you wanted, what would you do with your life? And she likes to mention the question in many of her (speech). 

Many main characters in Han's books are women, However, readers can find lots of men's opinions  Han thinks this kind of mix is helpful for readers to discover human nature. 

Recently, her books are among the top 10in popular  online bookshops. " It was (real) amazing to hear that a Korean female writer had won the prize, so I came here to look for her books, " said a reader. 

Today we will introduce important people from some countries. And we' ll (讨论) why they' re famous. 

Confucius was a great teacher and (思想家) in ancient China. He lived over 2, 000 years ago and he was very (明智). We are still (影响) by his ideas. William Shakespeare was English and he wrote many fantastic plays and (诗歌). He is (著名) in many countries. (虽然) he died about 400 years ago, his plays are still learnt and make a lot of (意义) to us today. Mark Twain was an American writer. His (作品) are studied in schools. His stories were set in the south of the US over 100years ago, but readers still enjoy them very much today. I (认为) that he is as famous as Confucius and Shakespeare.
