Yao Xin, 23, is a panda keeper at the Xining Wildlife Park. "People may think the job is easy, but I work long hours and sometimes even at night," she said. "However, it isn't tiring at all when I see the cute animals."

For Yao, becoming panda keeper was unexpected (出乎意料的). After leaving college in 2017, Yao worked at a health centre at first. In 2018, she saw an advertisement (广告) for a panda keeper online and she wanted to have a try. Although she didn't have any training in animal science, her work experience (经验) at the health centre helped her get the job.

Yao went to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to train for half a year before starting her job. She learned how to look after baby pandas and got to know different kinds of bamboo there.

Every time Yao finishes her work, she stands by the window and watches the pandas for a while. When she has a day off, she often asks her colleagues (同事) to make some short videos of the pandas and watches them at home.

Yao also keeps a diary every day. She has got a notebook with 400 pages of "sweet memories (回忆)" with the cute animals. "The more we do, the more comfortable the pandas will be," she said.

Potatoes came to China from South America in the late Ming Dynasty (朝代). At that time, not many people bought them. They were so special and people didn't know how to make them into dishes. But as time went by, people found it was easy to grow potatoes. This was because potatoes can bear hard growing conditions (状况). So more farmers started growing potatoes. And people knew more and more ways of cooking potatoes. At first, they found roasted potatoes tasted quite good with a little salt. Then they created (创造) more dishes like Stewed Beef with Potatoes and Hot and Sour Shredded Potatoes. But people didn't just grow potatoes for their taste. Potatoes could give them much energy, so they wouldn't feel hungry too early after eating them.

And here is another story about potatoes. In the Qing Dynasty, some villagers thought potatoes were unhealthy. So an official (官员) cooked and ate potatoes in front of them. Then many villagers tried potatoes too. In this way, he encouraged more people to grow potatoes.

Today, potatoes are welcome all over China. And you can find them in many different dishes.

Summer holiday is coming, but you should know the following to stay safe. 

Stay in when the thunderstorm is coming. Cut off the power in the house because lightning can travel through power lines（电线）. And stay away from windows. If you are outside, look for a house quickly. Don't get close to trees. 

It's dangerous because they can attract（吸引） lightning easily. When there isn't lightning for half an hour, you can go out. 

When the temperature is too high, you should drink much water. Stay inside between 10 a. m. and 4 p. m. and close the windows. Open the windows and take a walk in the early morning or the evening. If you have to go out, wear light clothes, a hat and sunglasses. You can walk under the trees. 

When you meet a hailstorm（冰雹）, move inside fast. And don't stay near the windows because they're easy to break. If you can't find any houses, cover your head with your arms, bag, jacket, or anything thick. When you are in a car, park it away from trees and power lines. Stay inside the car. Wait about 15 minutes before going outside after the hailstorm.

Jianbing is a famous Chinese street snack. But now its name goes outside China. Brian Goldberg is the founder（创办者） of Mr Bing. Reuben Shorser is the founder of another jianbing company（公司）. After going back to New York, they both started their own Jianbing businesses.
