1、There is a big change in Emma's classroom. The desks are no longer in rows, but pushed together to make eight bigger desks. Let us listen to what students and teachers think of it.
Emma: I was so excited about it for the first two days that I couldn't listen to the teachers carefully. But soon my classmates and I got used to this new classroom arrangement (安排). Now our class is quieter. What's more, we can come up with our own ideas and learn more through discussion. It's a better way to study.
David: I like it, too. Group members first discuss, and then show to the whole class. It encourages us greatly.
Linda, an English teacher: This was part of a reform (改革) at our school. The school made this reform because we want to offer students easier ways to study and more chances to discuss. Our school hopes to improve students' abilities to study by themselves and work in groups.
Steven, the school master: The reform has demanded (要求) more from teachers. Now they have only15 minutes to give a lesson that would have been taught in 40 minutes before. It is difficult to teach in such a short time. The teachers have to find better ways to teach more effectively (有效地). The reform demands more, but I'm sure it is helpful.

2、Qingming, literally (字面上) means "clear and bright". It is one of the 24 seasonal division points in China. After the festival, the temperature rises and rainfall increases. And then farmers begin to grow crops. Qingming Festival falls on April 4 this year.
As a festival, Qingming is believed to have a history of about 2,500 years. The most important tradition of Qingming is to honor ancestors and remember the dead family members. So Qingming is also called Tomb-Sweeping Day. When sweeping the graves, people pray, clean the tombstones and burn offerings, usually paper money, paper clothes, paper houses and now even a paper phone.
Lots of ancient poets expressed their sad feelings with words. One of the most famous poems describing the festival was the poem Qingming by Du Mu of the Tang Dynasty as follows: A drizzling rain falls like tears on the Mourning Day; The mourner's heart is going to break on his way. "Where can a wine shop be found to drown my sad hours?" A cowherd points to a cot amid apricot flowers.
Some traditions of Qingming have brought such problems as traffic jams and air pollution or even forest fires. As part of a greener Qingming campaign, people have been encouraged to pay respect to their ancestors and dead family members online, or burn less or no paper money to protect the environment.

9、Asking for advice is not so easy. In a recent study, 74 percent of people said they were afraid to ask for advice. But people who ask for advice are more likely to succeed at a task. So how do you ask for advice?
● Look for the best person to give you advice. It might be easy to ask all your friends on social media for advice at once, but will you value all the advice equally (同等地)? It might be better to choose one or two people whose opinions you value most. Ideally, you can ask for advice from people who have experience in the topic you're asking about.
●Provide enough information clearly. For example, imagine you can't decide how to organize a club activity. When you ask for advice, you should mention the topic, the place and the time. If your questions require a lot of thought, you should ask the person for advice when he or she is clear-headed.
●Be specific (具体的) when you ask questions. Imagine you want to own a business someday. Do you ask a business owner, "" No, because it's not specific enough. Instead, try asking, "What college classes did you find helpful for starting a business?"
● If you can't solve your problem by following the first person's advice, why not ask someone else who may think differently? The key is: Don't be afraid to ask for advice.
A. Probably not.
B. The answer is yes!
C. Here are some ways for you.
D. What advice do you have for me?
E. You should also consider when to ask.
F. Sometimes you may need to ask for a second opinion.

10、Have you ever heard that Guizhou has a funny nickname? Some people call it the "Potato Kingdom". But what we call "yangyu" or "tudou" here, people in Western countries usually call "potato".
Last year, a girl named Sarah from the United States came to study in Guizhou. Before she came, she thought potatoes were just French fries, mashed potatoes, or baked potatoes. However, her time in Guizhou completely changed her idea. On her first day, her new Chinese friend, Li Mei, took her to a street food stall. "You have to try our chaoyangyu!" Li Mei said. Sarah was surprised. She saw diced (颗粒) potatoes cooked with oil, chili, and a special sauce in a pot. It was spicy and smelly, but very delicious! This was nothing like the plain baked potato she had at home. In the following days, Sarah discovered more potato magic. She tried danbaoyangyu, where the soft fried egg wrapped (包裹) the flavorful mashed potatoes. She also loved yangyu baba, the crispy potato pancake that was golden outside and soft inside. She was amazed that one simple vegetable could have so many different forms and tastes. "The potato in America is often just a side dish," Sarah told Li Mei, "but here in Guizhou, it's the star of the meal!" Li Mei laughed and agreed, "Yes, for us Guizhou people, the potato is not just food. It's a memory of our childhood."
Sarah's experience shows us that even the most common things can be special in different cultures. Now, back in the US, when Sarah sees a potato, she doesn't just think of French fries. She remembers the wonderful smells and tastes of Guizhou, and the friend who introduced her to the magic of the "Potato Kingdom".

C、Guizhou's potato dishes are as delicious as American ones.(4)、Which can be the best title for the text?A、Sarah's study in Guizhou. B、The Magic Potato of Guizhou. C、Different delicious food in Guizhou. -

No one expected that Baduanjin would become popular among young Chinese people. In the past couple of years, an online teaching video of Baduanjin, a form of Qigong, has been played for more than 10 million times. "I have been doing Baduanjin for about four months. It helps me sleep better and get stronger. I like Baduanjin very much because it gives me a much healthier lifestyle," a young man said.
Baduanjin is one of the oldest health and fitnessapproaches in China, originally created over 800 years ago during the Song Dynasty. Its name is made up of two parts, namely "baduan" and "jin". The first part refers to eight separate movements. And the second part refers to the stretch and grace (优美) of the movements.
Compared to sports such as ball games or swimming, Baduanjin is slow and usually played with quiet music, so it used to be considered as a sport for the elders. In recent years, however, many young people came to realize the advantages of the sport. It helped kill their neck and back pain after long working hours while not requiring much effort, time and space.
Sun Yuxuan, a college student majoring in martial arts, has also noticed the rising popularity of Baduanjin. The 21-year-old girl has been teaching other students to practice Baduanjin for over three years. They started with 20 members in 2019 and the group has 45 members now. "Every member in the group is very healthy. I didn't expect that it could attract so many young people. I guess that's because they get real benefits (好处) from the sport," she said.
