Self-Management

I am glad to share my ideas of self-management. 

Nowadays, you may feel tired when spending time with friends or other people. It is called social exhaustion (疲劳). This may have a bad effect on your life. So what can you do when you have social exhaustion?

There is no rule saying that you have to join in every social activity. Pick and choose the ones that excite you. Saying yes to every invitation all the time can make you feel worried. Also, although you can't evade some social activities, such as a family member's wedding (婚礼) or birthday party, you can usually decide who you would like to spend time with during the activity. 

Part of your social exhaustion may come from feeling worried in certain situations. Find out what makes you feel so and which situations make you feel the most exhausted. Knowing what really tires you in social situations can help you find out how to solve it better. 

Having family or friends to depend on is helpful. Talk to them about how you are feeling and listen to their advice. They might have ideas to help you feel less worried in social situations. 

Taking some time alone can help you feel better. It can help you understand yourself and how you feel in social situations. Then you can plan your day according to what you need and how much time you can spend with others. 

Remember, it is good to find a balance (平衡) between looking after yourself and joining an social activities.

Over the years, skilled Chinese players have been doing very well in table tennis. Now, young athletes from Generation Z(Z世代) are becoming the stars of the game. 

Born in 2000, Sun Yingsha has been given the nickname (绰号) "Little Devil" by her fans. When she was little, Sun was sensitive (敏感) to the sound of a table tennis ball hitting the ground. "I felt I had some talent, " she told China Daily. 

When Sun first joined the reserve squad (预备队) of the national table tennis team, she was excited. Becoming a world top player like her idol Zhang Yining has always been her dream. 

 However, there have been challenges along the way. She took part in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and it was there that she faced huge losses. "I was not well-rounded (全能的) enough to win the gold medal (金牌) in the women's singles (单人), " Sun said. 

Sun believes that life is always full of ups and downs. "Determination and courage can make a good athlete, " she said. "What keeps me going are the goals and dreams I set for myself. "

At the 2023 Singapore Smash, Sun won the women's singles, the women's doubles (双人) and the mixed doubles, becoming the first athlete to get three gold medals at the tournament. Looking at the world ranking website, you can see Sun's name at the top of the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. 

When talking about younger table tennis players, Sun encourages them to retain (保持) their love and stay focused (专注的). "If you truly love table tennis, I hope you can hold on to it, " she said. 

Eight years ago, Chinese skater Wu Dajing introduced himself to the skating world by winning a silver medal at the Sochi (索契) Olympic Winter Games. At Pyeongchang (平昌) Olympics, Wu not only returned, but also made history. 

On Feb 22nd, 2018, Wu won the gold medal in the men's short-track 500-meter race. He set a new world record with a time of 39. 84 seconds. He also became the first Chinese man to take home an Olympic short-track gold medal. BBC said Wu's win was "▲", because he was much faster than all of the other skaters. 

"I didn't give them a chance and I kept my speed from the start, " he told the reporter after the match. 

Wu is now known as a highly talented skater. But things were not always that way. When Wu joined the national team in 2010,  he was seen as almost "nothing" compared to gifted skaters like Zhou Yang and Fan Kexin,  as his coaches said at the time. Their words made him quite upset. But Wu didn't want to give up and worked as hard as he could. He practiced skating all year round. He even didn't return to his hometown for the holidays for 10 years. "I believe in myself, " he told the reporter after his match at the Olympics. 

In the men's singles final of table tennis at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Fan Zhendong defeated (击败) the Swedish player Moregard with a score of 4 to l and successfully won the championship, thus completing a remarkable grand slam feat. 

Fan Zhendong has a friendly nickname "Xiao Pang" and enjoys very high popularity. Looking back at the whole journey, his path to advancement wasn't smooth. In the men's singles quarterfinals (四分之一决赛), he met the strong Japanese player Harimoto Tomokazu. At the start of the game, he was into a difficult situation and fell 0 to 2. Later, he was once in an unfavorable (不利的) position of 2 to 3. But with his fighting spirit and excellent ability, he finally achieved a great success and defeated Harimoto Tomokazu 4 to 3, successfully advancing to the semifinals (进入半决赛). 

In the semifinals, facing the French local player, Fan Zhendong quickly entered the state and performed well. He didn't give the opponent (对手) any chance and advanced to the final. 

The final opponent, Moregard, should not be looked down upon. He defeated the number one seed Wang Chuqin. Although Wang Chuqin's defeat might have something to do with the use of a spare racket (备用球拍), this also shows Moregard's strength. 

Fan Zhendong's table tennis path is filled with many glorious moments. He won the championship at the Men's Table Tennis World Cup in 

2016. At the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships in Houston, he won the men's singles championship. Now he has finally become the sixth men's table tennis grand slam (大满贯) winner after the Swedish player Waldner and the Chinese players Liu Guoliang, Kong Linghui, Zhang Jike, and Ma Long.
