Also, is there any moment or experience in your life that really made you understand the importance of family?
Looking forward to your reply!

That's when she noticed a man and a woman standing near a stopped car. They seemed to be arguing Christine King watched as the woman tried to stop the man from walking toward the guardrail (护栏), which overlooked a 40- foot drop onto a parking lot. The man kept pushing the woman away and moving something from his right arm to his left. When he reached the guardrail, he held the object over the edge. Christine King was shocked: That's a baby! The woman, crying and struggling (挣扎), tried to pull him back.
Without hesitation, Christine King stopped her car, jumped out, and ran toward the man. "Give me the baby!" she shouted, "Don't do this!"
The man moved closer to the edge, but Christine King and the woman stopped him, trying to reach the 18- month-old girl, "Get off my baby!" the man screamed (尖叫). When Christine King tried to grab the child, he looked straight at her and said, "I've got a gun, and I will shoot you."

But he refused. The officers took him by his arm and in the terrible mess, Christine King managed to pull the scared child away and hand her to her mother. The police then controlled the man.

Earth's ozone (O3) layer (臭氧层), the protective shield (防护盾) in the atmosphere about 15 to 30 kilometers above the Earth's surface, is improving and is expected to return to its normal state by the middle of the 21st century.
Over the past thirty years, humans have successfully reduced the use of many chemicals harmful to the ozone layer. Ozone in the stratosphere (平流层) takes in harmful UV rays from the sun, especially UVB rays. These rays are connected to skin cancer, eye damage, and harm to plants and sea life. This ozone is often called "good" ozone, unlike "bad" ozone near the ground, which causes air pollution and breathing diseases.
Ozone is an active gas made up of three oxygen atoms (氧原子). Its amount naturally changes based on the season and location, but it is almost the same since 1957. However, studies in the 1970s and 1980s showed that the ozone layer was in danger.
In 1974, scientists Mario Molina and Sherwood Rowland discovered that CFCs (chemicals widely used in spray cans and fridges) could damage the ozone layer. When CFCs reach the Stratosphere, UV rays break them down into chlorine (氯气), a poisonous (有毒的) greenish gas, which can destroy more than 100, 000 ozone molecules (分子). This process happens much faster than the ozone can fix itself.
In 1985, English scientists found a large hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica (南极洲),which was later connected to CFCs. This hole reappears every year in the spring months (August to October). The ozone layer is also weakening at the North Pole, causing rapid warming in the Arctic (北冰洋), as CFCs are even stronger greenhouse gases than CO2.
Good news came in 2023 when scientists reported that the ozone layer is returning to its normal state. It is expected to return to its 1980 condition by 2040. Ozone holes over the Arctic and Antarctica will close up by 2045 and 2066.
This progress is thanks to the Montreal Protocol, an international agreement signed in 1987 by 46 countries to stop using harmful chemicals. Today, nearly 200 countries have joined, making it a big success in protecting the Earth's atmosphere.
(1)、Why is the ozone layer considered "good" ozone?A、Because it lets in more UV rays. B、Because it makes the Earth warmer. C、Because it makes oxygen for people to breathe. D、Because it stops harmful UV rays and protects life.(2)、What does Paragraph 4 mainly explain?A、How CFCs harm ozone. B、How ozone changes over time. C、Studies showing ozone was in danger. D、Scientists' findings in the 1970s and 1980s about ozone loss.(3)、How does the writer support the idea that CFCs destroy ozone?A、Because it lets in more UV rays. B、By listing steps of ozone repair. C、By giving examples of solutions. D、By comparing ozone levels in different years.(4)、According to the passage, what can we infer about the Montreal Protocol?A、It was signed by nearly 200 countries. B、It was made to protect the ozone layer. C、It was signed after scientists found CFCs were harmful. D、It was created to stop harmful chemicals after the ozone hole was found. -
17、 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项.
① Do you usually see a wolf howling loudly at the Moon? It's cool. But wolves don't actually do this.
② Instead, they mostly howl to "talk" with one another. Wolves usually live in packs, often made up of a father, a mother, and their young kids. Packs may also include aunts, uncle, and cousins. Each pack claims (要求) a territory — an area where members live and hunt.
③ Whether hanging around or on the move, the wolves often need to communicate. To connect over short distance, they may yip, growl, and whine. But to "keep in touch" over longer distanced, they howl.
④ Different howls send different messages. Some rally (召集) the pack before a hunt or meal. Others are used to warn the pack of danger. A wolf that gets separated from the group may howl to communicate that it's lost. Once the pack answers, the wolf will howl back to show where it is. Sometimes, wolves may even howl just for fun! Scientists believe that group howls—when one wolf starts, and the others join in — help the group build stronger connections. Think of it like a sing-along!
⑤ But wait — if wolves mostly howl to connect with one another, what made people start thinking that they howl at the Moon? The idea may have sprung from folktales. Also, wolves often hunt at night and lift their snouts (口鼻部) toward the sky when howling. This may have led some people to believe that the creatures were directing their calls to the Moon. In reality, wolves raise their snouts because it helps the sound of their howls travel farther.
⑥ The Moon may not cause a wolf to howl. But wolf calls are still amazing. They allow packs to stick together, help make wolves safer, and may even deepen the pack's connections. Now that's something to howl about!
(1)、According to the passage, why do wolves howl?A、To find food more easily. B、To talk with other wolves. C、To scare away other animals D、To communicate with the Moon.(2)、What does the underlined word "it" in Paragraph 4 refer to?A、The Moon. B、The group howl. C、Scientists' belief D、The pack's connection(3)、Why might some people have thought wolves howled at the moon?A、Because the moon has a special influence on wolves. B、Because wolves are symbols of the wild and unknown. C、Because ancient stories tell about wolves howling at the moon. D、Because wolves often howl at night and lift their snouts toward the sky.(4)、What is the structure of the passage?A、①/②③④/⑤/⑥. B、①②/③④/⑤⑥. C、①/②③/④⑤/⑥. D、①②③/④⑤/⑥. -

Would you like to be taught by a robot or a computer? Imagine an AI classroom: there is no robot at the front of the class, just AI programs on your computers and virtual reality (VR) headsets. Human learning coaches are also in classrooms to lend a hand, if needed. Here are some comments from the Internet users.
AI is only as good as the information it learns. It can't replace a human teacher-especially not when it comes to creative subjects like art or drama Human teachers also manage feelings
(Molly, Sydney, Australia)
AI teachers can pay attention to each pupils' needs and help them understand subjects they find difficult. This is hard for human teachers in a large classroom with lots of children.
