At the 2023 Shenzhen Marathon, Luo Shujian, a45-year-old man, ran across the finish line with a unique stroller(婴儿手推车). His son Xiaobai, who is thirteen years old, sat in the stroller and he has cerebral palsy(脑瘫).

Luo read a story of Dick Hoyt and his son on the internet. Encouraged by Dick's spirit,Luo started undertaking(从事) marathon training activities with Xiaobai. Luo works 12 hours every day, and he has no sports experience. So he keeps on getting up at 4 a. m. to run or cycle before work.

Even in a stroller, the marathon is still a big challenge for Xiaobai. "Xiaobai has the same state as runners. He will feel excited in good fitness and feel tired in poor fitness," said Luo.Xiaobai likes to look at the outside world while sitting in the stroller during races, clapping and smiling to show his happiness.

Luo and his family will keep running together with Xiaobai in the future, giving Xiaobai the best possible life in the process.

Underwater highways

Besides"flying" in the air, we might also move around underwater. These highways are underwater tubes(管道). People sit in pods(吊舱) and travel between the UK and countries in Northern Europe in less than an hour. Usually, it takes around two hours.

According to research, more than 130 billion pounds of uneaten food go to waste in Laura's country each year. That is about 30% of the yearly food supply. It is a sad fact,especially when you consider how many families and homeless people are in hunger.

When Laura saw her school dining hall throw away food that was not eaten at all every day, she came up with an idea. She started a project to help her school dining hall to give away uneaten food to homeless shelters (庇护所) in her community. Over the past three years, the project has spread to other schools and some fast food restaurants throughout the city. The project is called Feed & Find, and has already fed thousands of people in her city.

How does it work? Through an app, Feed & Find matches local homeless shelters with school dining halls and restaurants that have uneaten food to provide. When dining halls or restaurants have uneaten food left, they can use the app to share information about the food.And then a truck driver is sent to pick it up and take it to a shelter.

Pretty cool, right? It's not surprising that people in other cities have got in touch with Laura, hoping that she could have developed similar projects for their communities.

Some people, however, have concerns about the safety of the uneaten food. They think such food may not be clean enough. Still, this project is a clever way to help solve the problem of food waste and it helps those in need.

When Leon Martin asked for his parents' advice on how to become a UX designer, they both went silent. "In fact, I had no idea what he was talking about," said Anne, his mother. "I don't know whether he was talking about designing clothes, computer programs or bikes."

New Zealand is in the Pacific Ocean and it is made up of islands. The largest island is theSouth Island and the North Island is the second largest.

Many local people lived a poor life. Some of them made a living by hunting wild animals.Kalema wanted to protect these animals from bullets(子弹). The key to doing so, she realized,was to improve the local people's quality of life. The woman offered crops to these people. By growing the crops, the locals could feed themselves and make money. They no longer needed to go hunting. Slowly, their attitude (态度) towards these wild animals began to change. Now,many of these hunters of wildlife have become protectors of it.

Kalema received the Champions of the Earth Award for her work. It is the United Nations' highest environmental honour.
