 Some artists are often not famous in their lifetime. Vincent Van Gosh(梵高) was one of   (they). People did not pay much attention to his works. He began to think he was not a very good artist. But he did not stop  (paint). Vincent loved it. He would become so  (interest) in what he was doing that he did not want to stop. He would even forget  (eat)!

 Our eyes change as we get older, that's just a  (事实). But we can do things to make it slower and keep our eyes safe.

 Our eyes grow the most   (在...期间) the first two years of our lives, and grow fast again when we are teenagers. By the time we get twenty, our eyes have reached their  (满的) size. From around the age of forty, many people find it hard to see close-up things c . This is because they have presbyopia(老花眼). There's nothing to worry about as long as they  (选择) the right glasses to correct it.

Don't smoke. A TV  (节目) recently showed that smoking is bad for our eyes. People who smoke are easier to get eye problems. Giving up smoking is one of the best things you are a  to do for your eyes.

 Get check-ups.An eye test can show early signs of eye diseases and also find out other  (健康) problems.

 Take a break from s .They send out a lot of blue light, which can make our eyes dry and tired. Every 20 minutes, try to take a 20-second break.

 Guo Shiyu,31, works at the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology(运载火箭技术研究院), and his family, his parents and grandfather, have worked to take China to the stars."My family hope someday spaceflight will be as easy as taking a train or plane." Guo said.

 At 00:23 on Oct.16, three Chinese astronauts-Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu set off for the Tiangong space station. During their six-month stay, they will finish a lot of difficult tasks. So they get training (训练) before going to space. They also have hundreds of classes to prepare for space travel. China's astronauts really have a hard road to get to space.

 On Nov.7, the 41-year-old woman made history. She became China's first woman space-walker. Wang Yaping finished a 6.6-hour spacewalk. "I feel great!" said Wang when she came out of the Tiangong space station.

 On Dec.9, Chinese astonauts-Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yeping and Ye Guangfu gave their fist science class from China's Tiangong space station. The 45-minute class had a tour of their lives and working place as well as some amazing science experiments (实验).

 On Aug. 20, Chinese astronauts Liu Boming and Nie Haisheng did the second spacewalk of Shenzhou XII. They wear spacesuits(宇航服) to keep them safer. A spacesuit is like a small space station. It has everything astronauts need. Each suit costs around 30 million yuan and it takes four months to make just one.

①Many years ago people took tests to show how much they knew. Today students still take many different kinds of tests.

②Throughout history, tests have been a kind of measuring tool (测量工具). They measure how students are learning, as well as how teachers are teaching. Teachers can use tests as a way to see if their teaching are working. If students are doing poorly on tests, teachers can change how they' re teaching to help students understand things more clearly.

③Many teachers understand that tests can actually help students learn. Testing has been believed to help students remember what they have been taught. Tests serve as a way for students to find gaps in their understanding. Once they fill those gaps, they can do better on the next test.

④However, testing isn't always a good thing. For some students, this causes(造成)a lot of worries because they want to do well. Tests can make some students lose sleep because they' re studying for a long time or because they' re afraid of doing poorly.

⑤Besides, some people think that tests are not always a good way to measure how smart students are. For example, if Lucy is sick the day of a test, she might do poorly on the test when she is actually smart. Tests only look at one day in her life, but not how she does in school over a long time.

⑥Are you for or against tests? Should students have to take tests?

 It is possible that in 50 years the only tigers in the world will be in zoos. One hundred years ago, there were maybe 100,000 tigers in the world. Today scientists are not sure how many are left, as it is difficult to count them. There are maybe only between 5,000 and 7,000 tigers in the world.

 People only find tigers in Asia and Africa. They have already disappeared from many countries. There are no longer any Caspian tigers. They died out many years ago. The living condition of tigers in other parts of Asia is also serious. There are perhaps only 100 Chinese tigers left. In southwestern Russia, the number of tigers is a little higher. There are about 450 tigers left. On some islands in Sumatra(苏门答腊) with many thick forests, there are about 500 tigers. If this situation continues, they might disappear completely.

 Why are there fewer and fewer tigers? The first reason is that tigers are meat-eaters. They need a lot of land to find enough food. Also they live in forests and people cut down many trees. Many years ago, tiger shooting was a sport, especially in India. Local people sometimes kill tigers because they kill their cows. Another reason is that Chinese people use all parts of the dead tigers for traditional Chinese medicine, including the bones(骨头) and so on. People think this medicine will make them live longer.

Can you imagine(想象) your life with no smartphones or TV? With no cars or supermarkets? Can you imagine life in a tree house?

 In her book, A life in the Trees, Rebecca Moore travels 15,000 kilometers from London to Papua New Guinea. In Papua New Guinea, Rebecca meets the Kombai people. She talks about their lives in the jungle(丛林).

 Moore lived with the Kombai women and children for three months. Kombai life is very different. The Kombai people have no watches and no cars. There is no school for the children. Parents teach their children to cook, hunt(狩猎) and swim.

 The Kombai get up every morning at sunrises. Kombai men hunt in the jungle. They can hunt for 12 hours. They also cut down sago palms(西米棕榈). This tree is important. The women cook the inside of the tree. The Kombai people eat this food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

 The most important part of Kombai life is building their tree houses. The men, women and children all help build tree houses. Each house is 20 meters high. The stories in this book which has been written in Japanese and Chinese show the Kombai people's lives in the trees.
