When talking about Shenzhen, what comes to your mind first?You may think of tall buildings, fast trains and new technology.However, Shenzhen is also a city of trees. Every spring, people plant trees and take care of them. For local people, trees are not only part of the environment, but also part of their daily lives.

On March 12th, the 48th National Tree Planting Day, people across Shenzhen took part in tree-planting and tree-care activities. People worked in small groups. Some held the young trees, some dug the holes, and others watered them. People got to choose the trees they liked. Aunt Ma chose a lemon tree and said"I hope my tree can see our home become better and better."

Trees also tell stories of the city. Old trees still stay in its parks and communities.They carry memories of local life. Under these trees, neighbors have met, talked and watched their communities change over the years. By planting new trees and protecting old ones, people in Shenzhen are growing together with the city.

Maya always dreamed of having a special pet. While her friends had cats and dogs, she wanted something different. OneSaturday, she visited a pet shop and saw a bright green parrot."Hello there!" the bird said clearly. Maya was amazed."His name is Rio." The owner said,"He needs a lot of attention and care." Maya said yes eagerly and took him home.

Once there lived a frog in an old, narrow well. He had been there since he was born and never left. Every day, he swam in the shallow (浅的) water, sat on the wet stones, looked up at the round piece of sky above him. He thought,"My home is perfect. I have all the (thing)I need right here,"

The frog felt very proud. He believed his well was the (large) and finest place in the whole world.

One afternoon, a turtle (龟) who had travelled far from the sea stopped by well. "Look at my wonderful home! I can jump and swim anytime. The sky watches over me all day. Isn't this the happiest and safest place?" the frog said (happy).

The turtle then tried to explain the outside world. "The sea is endless. You cannot see where it (finish). It is deeper than any well, and even when storms come, the sea remains vast and unchanged. There(be) mountains, forests, and countless(无数的) other animals living there."

Almost each Chinese child has heard of or read Journey to the West— one of the most famous traditionalChinese classics. All of them like the main character— the Monkey King or Sun Wukong. InNovember 1979, pupils in England were able to watch a new programme called Monkey. Most of them heard of this story for the first time.

 In fact, he sometimes doesn't even look like a monkey! This is because he can make seventy-two changes to his shape and size, turning himself into different animals and objects.When he fights against bad people, the Monkey King uses a magic stick. Sometimes he can make the stick small enough to keep it in his ear.

By Sunday (25th January 2026), a major winter storm had moved to the US East Coast, where it brought heavy snow through the day and night, and continued into Monday. The storm then went on into Eastern Canada,where it broke a few weather records. For example, Toronto' s airport reported its highest snowfall ever recorded in a single day, while the city centre received even more snow——22 inches (56 centimetres).

Because of the dangerous weather, many places across the US and Canada were closed on Monday. This included schools, universities, libraries, museums, some businesses, and government offices. Many schools moved classes online. Some areas also decided to keep schools closed on Tuesday.

The storm caused serious problems for air travel. Between Saturday and Monday, over 16,000 flights were cancelled(取消). On Sunday alone, almost 12,000 flights were cancelled and 20,000 flights were delayed (推迟).Airports all along the East Coast faced major problems.

The National Weather Service warned that the storm's effects could last a few days. Very cold air from the Arctic moved far south, bringing temperatures that felt as cold as-30°F(-34℃), and even lower in some places. In one village in New York state, the temperature fell to a record low of-49°F(-45℃).

This extreme cold weather is especially dangerous for people without electricity or a safe place to live. To help keep people safe, local governments across both the US and Canada have opened special warming centres where people can go to stay warm.

If you want to talk about the history of Chinese animation, you must mention the Wan brothers: Wan Laiming,Wan Guchan, Wan Chaochen, and Wan Dihuan.

They grew up in Nanjing in the early 20th century. Their mother encouraged them to learn art, and they soon became interested in animation. After years of study, they created China's first animated short film, Uproar in the Studio(《大闹画室》), in 1926.

The brothers kept working and became pioneers of Chinese animation. In 1935, they made China's first animated film with sound. During the difficult times of the Second World War, they spent three years making their first full-length animated film(动画长片), Princess Iron Fan, based on Journey to the West. It was finished in 1941and loved by Chinese audiences.

Their next animated film was Havoc in Heaven (《大闹天宫》). It took over ten years to make and was divided into two parts. Part one was completed in 1961, and part two was finished three years later. Also based onJourney to the West, the film was very successful both at home and abroad. It was shown on TV in the UK, Russia,Denmark, and other countries, winning many international awards.

The Wan brothers' work has influenced many animators and filmmakers. Their films are still studied today.Havoc in Heaven especially inspired Chinese animators in the 1950s and 1960s. Without these four brothers from Nanjing, Chinese animation would not be what it is today.

Guizhou, a mountainous province in China, is working to become a world-class place for tourism. It is using its natural beauty, rich culture, and better transport to attract visitors.

The province is famous for its green mountains and clean air. Its forest coverage(覆盖率) is high, and the air quality is good most of the year. In summer, the weather is cool and pleasant, which makes it a popular escape (避暑胜地).

Transport has improved greatly. All counties are now connected by highways. Airports and high-speed rail serve major cities. Guizhou is also renowned for having many of the world's highest bridges. For example, theHuajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the highest in the world, has become a widely shared online attraction.

Tourism in Guizhou is growing quickly. The number of visitors and spending continue to rise, with a large increase in international tourists. The province is creating more travel experiences, including cultural and sports activities, wellness (康养) stays which are all about health and relaxation, and smart digital services. Local events like the Village Super League have also drawn huge online attention. The province is opening new flights and making special plans to welcome more global visitors.

With its natural wonders, cultural treasures, and improved services, Guizhou is changing. It is no longer just a place people pass through, but a destination where they stay longer, explore more deeply and return more often.

Sanxingdui is an amazing museum in Guanghan, Sichuan. People  it in the 1920s, but people still don't know  about it!

This ancient city is about 3,000—5,000 years old. There are many  things in the museum. You can see some masks with strange eyes and ears much  than normal ones. They look like aliens (外星人)! You can  see a golden staff (杖). Maybe those  used it for special activities. There is also a 4-metre bronze (青铜) tree with birds and dragons. It  fantastic.

Scientists think ancient Shu people were very creative. Their art is different from other Chinese  works. I'm curious about their story. I often wonder how they made beautiful works  modern tools. Sanxingdui Museum shows us that ancient China was  of surprises! Are you looking forward to the trip to Sanxingdui?
