Today my family and I visited Mount Yuelu in Changsha.

In the morning, everything looked grey, and we couldn't see much because of the heavy fog(雾). The trees and the path were in the clouds. It was like a place from a story. Then it started to rain. The path was wet. It was hard to walk. So we had to walk slowly. I was not happy. I was not really enjoying the experience.

At about 9: 40, we got to Aiwan Pavilion(爱晚亭). The rain was stopping. The clouds were going away. The red house and the green trees looked beautiful together. Many people were there. They were taking photos. They were in high spirits. My sister Lily was very excited. She told me about a famous poem on the stone. Walking up the hill was tiring! My shoes were all wet. But I have to say, Aiwan Pavilion was really nice and lovely.

At about 11: 00, the sun came out! We got to the top of the mountain. We could see the Xiangjiang River and the city of Changsha. It was a wonderful sight. Changsha looked beautiful in the sun. I was tired and my feet hurt. But the view was great! I was glad I didn't give up. What a wonderful day!

My First Day of School

I remember my first day of school. I was excited, but I was afraid. I(hold) my mother's hand as we walked to the school. When we got near the school, I wouldn't let (she) hold my hand anymore. I didn't want to look like a baby.

We got to the school. school looked very big. There were(child) outside on the playground. They all looked very big. I looked at them, and some of them looked at me. I (feel) very small.

My mother and I went into a classroom. There were children in there. My mother spoke to the teacher. The teacher (be) very nice. She said my name. I already knew some of the children  they lived near me. I began to play with some of the (thing) in the classroom. My mother left the room.

In school we sang songs, played some games and (listen) as the teacher read us a story.

I had a lot of fun on my (one) day of school. I like school. It is a good place to meet new friends and learn all about the world.

Many people like the idea of a triathlon(铁人三项), but they' re worried that it's just too difficult for them. If that's you, remember, you don't have to start with theOlympics —— there are lots of triathlons for beginners.

▶SWIMMING

Swimming is the first part. Many people are most worried about it. So even if you get tired, you can't put your feet down for a rest. Also, you have to lift your arms up high because the water moves up and down. It's a good idea to practise this, even when you' re in the swimming pool.

▶CYCLING(骑自行车)

 Riding a bike with lots of other people can be strange(奇怪的) at first. So practise with friends. Remember that in the race, you have to stay away from the other bikes because it's dangerous to get too close.

▶RUNNING

 You have to do it when you' re already tired. When you get off the bike, you may think you can't even stand up! So make sure you practise riding your bike and then running at least(至少) once a week.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Breakfast, work, home, dinner: we all know the typical(典型的) daily routine(日常惯例) of people all over the world. But little differences(差异) in our lives make those routines interesting.

Today, we talk about daily life around the world with the Chopra family inIndia. One in six people in the world lives in India. Many of them live in big modern cities, but more of them —— including the Chopers —— work on farms across the country.

Garjan Chopra is a farmer in a small village near Delhi. He lives with his wife,Anjani, his children and grandchildren(孙辈). They work in the fields(田地) every day. Garjan and Anjani get up every morning at 4: 00 am. They work in the fields from 7:00 am to 6: 00 pm. At 9: 00 am they always stop work for breakfast. They don't have their breakfast together because in their culture men and women don't usually eat together. They stop work for a rest at midday(中午) when the sun is very strong. In the afternoon, their grandchildren usually help them. In the evening, the family never eats together. First, the men and children have dinner, then the women of the family eat together in the kitchen. They often go to bed at around 9: 00 pm, ready for another busy day on the farm.

The panda is one of China's most famous animals. People all over the world love pandas because they are cute and lovely. But did you know these facts about them?

Pandas are from the forests of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu. Their favourite food is bamboo(竹子). A panda can eat about 30 kilos of bamboo a day! That's a lot, isn't it?Pandas also eat other plants and sometimes small animals.

Pandas are good climbers. They can climb trees easily, even baby pandas! In the wild, pandas usually live alone. They are shy and don't like to be with other pandas most of the time.

Sadly(令人遗憾地), pandas are in danger. There are only about 1, 800 pandas in the wild. People are cutting down bamboo forests, so pandas are losing their homes. What can we do? We can help by protecting(保护) forests and telling more people about the importance of saving pandas.

My ways to live a balanced life

Do you know anything about the exciting TV show called The Answer is Earth? It is a wonderful documentary (纪录片). The famous young actor Zhang Linghe plays the main role in it. In this show, he went back to his  Gansu Province, and worked as a normal worker. This special  helped him know more about the energy (能源) projects.

The show tells  how China is building a low-carbon (低碳的) future. Zhang Linghe visited many  to see new energy projects. He learned to use clean energy to our Earth. The show also helps people understand why saving energy in our  life is important, like turning off the lights, saving water and using less paper.

On April 22nd, World Earth Day, Zhang Linghe  part in an activity in Beijing. He shared his real feelings there. He said that  he wasn't an actor, he might work on the energy projects. We  have one Earth to live on. Everyone should take action now to make it  and better. Watching this great documentary is a good way to start!

Imagine a night sky lit up by thousands of sparks (火花) —this is the magic of Datiehua. Datiehua is a traditional Chinese art. People heat iron (铁) until it is very hot to over 1600℃, and turns into liquid (液体). Then they splash (泼洒) the liquid iron against a cold stone wall or the hard ground. It makes lots of bright sparks that look like stars in the night sky. That's why the best time to watch Datiehua is at night.

Safety is very important in Datiehua. The workers must wear special clothes and masks to protect themselves. They also use long sticks to hold the hot iron to keep their hands far from the heat. Only experienced workers can do this dangerous art safely.

This tradition has a long history. Hundreds of years ago, ancient Chinese people started this tradition because they believed it could drive away bad luck and bring happiness. Today, many people still enjoy watching Datiehua. It is an important way to celebrate special moments, and it makes people remember China's cultural history.

Do you know a 75-year-old traveller from Italy? She is Vienna Cammarota. The grandma travelled across 12 countries!

In 2000, Cammarota began reading the book The Travels of Marco Polo. After reading it, Cammarota had a dream. She made a decision to follow Marco Polo's footsteps (脚步) and walk all the way to China. Cammarota started walking from Venice in 2022, and arrived in Xinjiang in 2024. This meant that she walked more than 20,000 km. From Xinjiang, Cammarota went on a 15-month journey across China, visiting over 30 cities in Gansu, Shaanxi, Fujian, Guangdong and so on. She especially (尤其) wanted to visit Suzhou because Marco Polo described the city as the "Venice of the East".

Cammarota saw herself as a modern Marco Polo. "More than 700 years ago, Marco Polo helped the world learn more about China. And now I want to compare ancient China with modern China," she said. "And I also want to tell people that it's never too late to follow your dreams."

In October 2025, she arrived in Beijing to celebrate the 750th anniversary (周年纪念) of Marco Polo's visit to China.

Dianchao (滇超) is a special football league in Yunnan. It's not only a football game but also a new way for people to see Yunnan's life. So, many people call it the "Yunnan way of football life".

There are 16 teams from 16 cities in Yunnan. The players are not football stars, but they come from different backgrounds (背景), such as teachers, students, workers and doctors. There are two rounds (轮次) in the game. In the first round, every team plays with every other team. The first eight teams can get into the next round and try to get the first place.

Dianchao also has many things to watch. Before games, people can watch folk song and traditional dance shows. Every team has a special logo (标志). For example, the Kunming Team's logo has seagulls on it, because in Kunming, people can see many seagulls flying in the sky in winter. Some visitors in Yunnan can also play in the games.

Dianchao tells us that everyone can play football. Playing football helps people get closer to each other and makes life happy.
