The FIFA World Cup came to an end in December 2022. But the love for soccer is still very much alive and well in Zibo, Shandong Province. 

Zibo is called"the home of soccer ball". It's the birthplace of the ancient Chinese sport— cuju. In 2004, cuju won the recognition (认可) of FIFA as the earliest form of soccer. 

"Side-flicking", "chest down" and"shoulder stopper" are some of the key moves of cuju. Li Weipeng, 34, from Zibo is a seventh-generation inheritor(传承人) of cuju.  He has been practicing these skills for 18 years. "Learning different cuju skills well is not easy.  At the beginning, I spent eight hours a day practicing.  It was tiring, " Li told China Daily. He now can juggle a ball with his foot over 10, 000 times without break. 

Teaching students cuju moves is a part of Li's job. The traditional Chinese sport cuju is now popular at primary and middle schools in Zibo. They change the moves of cuju into dances and morning exercises. 

"Students show great interest in playing cuju. It encourages me to spread the ancient sport, " Li said. 

On April 19, something amazing happened in Beijing.  Some humanoid (人型的) robots ran in the half-marathon (21 km) with 12, 000 human runners. This was the first time for robots to  in such a long race. 

These robots in different shapes and sizes were from different Chinese companies. But to join the race, they all had to run on two legs.  Some even  running shoes.  Like racecars, the robots had a human operator to help them. They  also have their batteries (电池) changed during the race to make sure they could reach the end. Usually, robots with two legs like people cannot keep balance  , just think about how a baby learns to stand and walk. 

How did these robot runners do? The  was Tiangong Ultra from the Beijing Innovation Center of Human Robotics. It finished in two hours and 40 minutes. For comparison (比较), the human runner finished in one hour and two minutes. Some robots had  running. One fell at the starting line, and another knocked over an engineer after a few meters. 

Even so, the race proved to be a success. The robots managed to get tested for  skills like stability(稳定性), speed and battery life.  In the future, maybe they will be  in factories, hospitals or even space!

"Although running might be a small step for humans, it's a  leap(跳跃) for robots, " said Liang Liang, E-Town's deputy director. 

The marathon is a famous long-distance running race. It is very tiring and requires  strong will. Every year, many sports lovers take part  city marathons around the world. 

Now, there a new and interesting kind of marathon — the robot marathon. In this event, different  run on the same track together.  It shows us  modern technology is used in sports and brings a lot of fun to the audience. 

A lot of people play sports, but very few people are very good at them, are they? If the sport isn't going to be your future, then why should you play it? Why should you practise it every day? In fact, there are a lot of reasons for playing sports. 

First of all, playing sports is a great way to exercise.  Exereising keeps you healthy and strong.  When you exercise, your body makes endorphins (内啡肽) to give you more energy and happiness. 

Also, playing sports teaches young people how to talk with others and work as a team. It helps young people stay out of trouble. If a young person plays sports, he or she may have few problems. This is because playing sports teaches people rules. It also teaches people that if they work hard, they will succeed. 

Another good reason for playing sports is that it makes people go out of their houses. Now, a lot of people spend too much time watching TV or playing video games. When you play sports, you can go out and exercise in the sun. You can breathe fresh air. All of these things are important. 

Maybe you' re not going to become a sports player, but that doesn't matter. Playing sports will help you become a great and happy person. 

"World record broken!" Ma Jiajun, 17, from Jilin said on a social media on August 12.  He has set a new Guinness World Record— doing the most consecutive jump rope triples (连续三摇跳绳) for 701 times! The last world record was 423. A Japanese person did it 35 years ago. 

Ma is more than 180 centimeters tall, but he used to be short and thin in the primary school.  To build a stronger body, he took part in the school's jump rope team. 

"The training was really hard. I practiced it every day for four to five hours, " Ma said. "The jump rope triple needs great core(核心的) strength. Every night when I lay on my bed, my abs and back were in pain. 

After breaking the record, Ma won lots of attention. "I hope more people could enjoy jump rope because it's good for your health and full of fun, " Ma said. 

How to do jump rope safely? Here is some advice from Ma Jiajun. 

●Do a warm-up before jumping. It prevents you from getting hurt. 

●Use the right sized rope, not too long or too short. 

●Keep your arms close to your ribs. 

●Keep a slight bend (弯曲) in your knees and try to land softly. 

●Don't jump too high.
