2025 Could Be the Hottest Year in History

Data (数据)   shows that 2024 was the hottest year since 1961. The average temperature in the country reached 10.92℃ last year, which is 1.03℃ higher than the usual average,according to official records.

Global warming is the main reason for China's higher-than-normal temperatures. It has caused rising sea levels, melting ice, and more extreme (极端的)    weather, including longer heat waves and fewer cold days. The El Nifo phenomenon  (厄尔尼诺现象)- the warming of water in the Pacific Ocean-also adds to rising temperatures.

A 1℃ rise in temperature has a strong influence on nature. Sea levels may rise by 2.3meters over time, putting coastal areas in danger. Higher temperatures also harm wild crops and bring more pests (害虫). Some animals and plants may die out. Higher temperatures may temporarily increase crop production in some places. However, in the long term, farming will face bigger changes and possible decreases.

Illnesses related to heat, like heatstroke  (热射病), is becoming more common. Longer heat waves lead to higher death rates, showing the need for better healthcare and ways to prevent harm.

The year 2025 seems to continue with higher-than-normal temperatures. On New Year's Day, temperatures in areas south of the Yangtze River were over 15℃, far from the cold usually expected in winter. To deal with these problems, experts suggest developing technology to follow and predict extreme weather, like heat waves, to reduce risks.

A blue hole is a flooded sea cave  (洞穴) with a hole that opens up at the land's surface. These cave systems form in carbonate rock, often on islands. Far below sea level there are some of the hardest environments on Earth, with no oxygen  (氧) and no light. Yet these areas are filled with life forms that have got used to such conditions.

Blue holes get their name from the color that some have when seen from the air. It is usually a reflection of the sky on the water.★Some have dark or muddy water.

Blue holes have several layers of water, chemicals and bacteria  (细菌). The top layerof fresh water comes from rainfall, which acts like a cap on top of the layered mixture and keeps out oxygen from the air. The fresh water covers a denser layer of salt water. Underneath this is a layer of poisonous hydrogen sulfide  (有毒的硫化氢), producedby bacteria living in the water. At the bottom is anoxic seawater—— water that does not have any oxygen.

" Underwater caves are probably one of the least understood ecosystems on the planet," Kenny Broad, a scientist at the University of Miami in Florida, says." One reason is that you still physically have to go there—— you can't send in a submarine  (潜水艇) or anyother machine."

There are many safety rules that divers must follow to help ensure their survival. First,divers must have training to swim in such caves. Those who explore an underwater cave for the first time must use a thin rope called a guideline, which helps them to safely enter and exit without getting lost. Besides, divers must bring several light sources and more than one set of breathing equipment  (设备)just in case. And they must pay careful attention totheir air supply (供应).

Most Valuable Player was what I hoped to get. Back in Grade 6, soccer became my favorite sport. I wasn't the best player on the team at the beginning of the year. But after a lot of hard work, by the end of the year, I felt that I was the MVP

What is the Chinese Knot made of?The  material is red string. The string  looks simple,but in the hands of craftspeople,it can turn into many beautiful works,like flowers. 

The Chinese Knot is a of luck. People believe it can bring good things,like happiness and health. During festivals,many families hang it in their homes. It  the house feel warm and welcoming. It also shows the close relationship between people. People usually give it as a gift to friends or family. The act  "we are close". We can also hang the Chinese Knot on bags  clothes as a decoration(装饰品) . Some people even collect different kinds of knots,and they love sharing their collections(收集物)  others.

Some students from Sichuan work with local companies(公司)to start a special project. They want to help children learn and grow through fun activities. 

The project takes place in Pingshan County,Yibin from 13 July to 30 July,2025. Nine students from Chengdu University of Technology take part in the project. . They hope to find new ways to care for these left-behind children(留守儿童)whose parents work in other cities. 

Many people help make the project successful. Companies provide materials and spaces to hold activities. The local community talks with the children to understand their needs. The university uses its teaching resources(资源)to plan activities and look after the children. 

During the project,the children take part in many interesting activities. They learn about traditional food and try making traditional Chinese handicrafts,such as paper-cutting and kite-making. 

These activities help them become more creative. 

This project is a good example of how schools,communities and companies can work together to help left-behind children. It not only teaches children new skill but also makes them feel cared for.
