Every one of us has a chance to try new things.  The risk is that we will not be satisfied with our choice.

For example, we may try a kind of food we have never had before.  It can be too sour (酸的), too salty or too hot. We may try a new style of music and get a headache. We may try a new sport like skating and end up falling down a lot. We may see a different kind of art and be completely disappointed. We may try to speak or write a different language and end up embarrassing (使尴尬) ourselves.

It sounds risky to us.  For example, we can try a new kind of food. And we fall in love with it finally. It can be sweet or taste very good. We may try a new sport and fall down but we get back up and finally experience joy, even for a minute. We may see why people love that sport so much.

If we try a new kind of music, we may regret we didn't find it sooner. We can try writing or speaking a different language, and we may be a little embarrassed at first, but we know that the only way to improve is to make mistakes and keep on trying.

When I was eight, I needed to give a speech at the school hall. I was nervous but excited.

My Dream Job

Everyone has his/ her own dream. My dream job is 

"Every worker coming to Beijing has their own reasons. No one lives here without a dream," said Chen Jianguo, a 35-year-old food deliveryman (送餐员) from a small and poor town. 

Chen Jianguo dreamed of having his own business in Beijing about 16 years ago. But his father asked him to take his place as a truck driver. Although Chen disliked the job, he didn't want to make his father sad. He took the job as a truck driver. Then he got married and had a son. 

"I got quite good pay, but life was boring there during those years. Most of the time I had nothing to do." said Chen. So Chen decided to give up his job and come to Beijing. His wife agreed that he should go for his dream. So did his son. 

Chen has been a food deliveryman for a month. He works for 15 hours every day and hardly has time for lunch at noon. "I want to give a better life to my wife and little son." he said. "I must work harder and try to become the best food deliveryman at my station." Chen likes his job because he can meet many different people. 

Chen plans to start his own restaurant in the future, so he always writes down what food people have ordered. In this way, he can know about different people's tastes.

Jobs have changed a lot throughout history. Long ago, nearly 90% of people worked on farms. They grew crops  wheat and rice, and raised animals such as cows and chickens to sell or eat. Life was hard then, and work started at sunrise and ended at sunset.

Then came the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century. Machines began to do work that humans used  (do). Steam engines powered factories, and people moved from villages to  (city). Jobs like making clothes by hand disappeared, while new jobs such as train drivers and engineers appeared. But  (sad), young children worked in dangerous factories too.

Gael and Miguel were two boys living in a small town. Both of them expected to become  in the future.
