My Hobby

 Keeping eye contact when someone is talking will help build trust because it shows interest. Put your phone away until your conversation is over. It says, "I don't want to read messages now — you' re more important."

 You might only be crossing your arms and legs because you' re cold, but that position(姿势) closes you off. It gets in the way of building trust. Make sure your body looks open to hear others' thoughts.

My interest in body language began with a teacher at university. He mentioned"Pinocchio(匹诺曹)" to me after saying that I always rubbed (揉) my nose when giving excuses for being late for his classes. In fact, when someone tells a lie, the person's blood rushes to the nose and makes it itchy (痒的). This little example of non-verbal(非语言的) communication encouraged me to become a body language expert. Now,I make a living by teaching people about non-verbal communication.

Office workers always need my services and I try to help them become more confident by teaching them about body language. I give advice on handshakes and teach them the importance of personal space. They seem like small things, but they can be of great help.

Body language has different meanings in different cultures. How we can interpret(解读) body language depends on the situation, the culture and the relationship we have with the person. This means that there isn't one signal that has the same meaning all over the world. Body language is also interlinked (连接) with spoken language and a whole pattern of behaviour of a person. As well as that, different body language signs can complement (补充) each other to make a particular meaning clearer.
