Fun at the Forbidden City

There are lots of ways to enjoy the Palace Museum. The Forbidden City was once the home of 24 emperors from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). On Oct 10, 1925, it became the Palace Museum and opened its doors to everyone. This year is its 100th birthday. Now, people can learn about the palace and its 1.86 million cultural relics (文物). But the Palace Museum is more than just a museum. It has become a fun part of our lives. There are many kinds of ways to experience it! 

Finding star cats

The cats in the Palace Museum have a lot of fans. About 200 cats live there. People think some of them come from the imperial (皇家的) cats in the past. Visitors love to look for the cats and take pictures of them. "Cat maps" on social media help people find them. The Palace Museum also makes creative gifts with these "stars", such as notebooks and fridge magnets (冰箱贴). 

Having history classes

For some students, the Palace Museum is a big classroom for history. "Having classes here makes the books come to life!" said Shao Yuchen, 14. During his class' study tour, the teacher told students many interesting stories. "I was amazed by the floor tiles (地砖) in the Hall of Supreme Harmony (太和殿)," said Shao. "They were even harder than stone, and people made them so long ago!"

Running

Runners enjoy running around the Palace Museum. They think the run is relaxing, and it makes them happy. The views along the way are beautiful. They can see the red walls and yellow roofs of the museum. They can also feel the real Beijing by watching locals every day in the hutong.

Everyone has hobbies. Some like singing, some love playing ball games, and others enjoy drawing. In our school, clubs help us turn these hobbies into fun activities. 

Sports Club is full of energy (活力). After class, we run on the playground and play football. Many boys love playing basketball here. Girls enjoy ping-pong too.  We learn to work with teammates.

 We draw pictures of our village- green fields, big trees, and little rivers. Sometimes we make paper flowers or fold paper boats. Our teacher says, "Your hands can make beautiful things." It's true!

 We can sing our favorite songs with friends-we don't have to be great at it. We can also try easy instruments like the guitar or drums, and our teachers will help us to learn. We even play fun music games and make short songs together.

 They let us do what we love and make new friends. Come join a club—you'll find your happiness here!

Of all the clubs in my school, I like the Hanfu Club best and I'm in it now. 

At school, my favorite subject is Chinese. I can learn about Chinese history, geography and culture (文化). After school, I can also learn a lot in the Hanfu Club. There are many activities in the club. First, we have a discussion (讨论) every Tuesday afternoon. We talk about the hanfu in TV plays. Every Friday afternoon, we have a hanfu-making class. We can make hanfu in the class. 

There is a festival for all hanfu lovers (爱好者) on November 22nd. On this big day, we wear hanfu to the streets and parks. In December, we have a big party before New Year's Day. Girls and boys in our club dance and sing old songs. We all wear very beautiful hanfu at the party. 

Now many people love hanfu. We are happy to wear hanfu. We want more people to love hanfu and Chinese culture.

School clubs are important. Students can learn and have fun in them. Here are some fun clubs in No.5 Middle School.

Do you know about PE class in Canada? It's 1 from that in China. Let me tell you about it. 

I have my PE class every 2 from 8:40 to 10 a.m. When the class begins, we need to run around the school to warm up. It not only makes us feel full of 3 but also keeps us from getting hurt. Then, the teacher tells us 4 to do next in a clear way.

Dear students.

Daniel was ill (生病的) and had to stay at home all day. He was very  because he missed (想念) his friends and school. He  on the chair by the window and looked at the garden outside from time to time. This brought him a little fun.

The sun didn't listen. "No, I will not come back. Tell everyone the world will stay cold and dark."

"I will do as you say," said the rooster. "But I need your help. If you don't come back, I have to fly home in the dark. I am afraid a tiger will catch me. If I crow (打鸣), will you come and save me?"

The sun said, "Yes, I will save you."

The rooster flew away. Before he got home, he crowed loudly, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" Then he hid himself.

The sun rose into the sky. He looked for the rooster but could not find him.

From then on, the rooster crows every morning. The sun gets up and looks for the roaster. He never finds him.
