In this week's podcast （播客）, we are going to help you in different situations when you need to speak politely in English-speaking country. Being polite is not only about saying "please", "thank you", "excuse me" and "sorry", you can do more than that.

First, pay attention to your requests. Usually polite (question) are longer than direct ones. For example, it sounds (polite) to say "Could you please tell me how to get to the post office?" than "Tell me the way to the post office."Another way to make your request polite is by using "if', for example, you can say "I was wondering you could help me...?" ."Would you mind...?", but be careful, because normally this expression (use)to ask for something really special.

Second, say"no" a polite way. Sometimes we may have to refuse some invitations or have different opinions. If we say "no" (direct), we may hurt others' feelings. Instead, we can use "I am afraid...". And we can also explain our reasons a little bit.

Third, use correct intonation（语调）.Intonation can tell the listener how the (speak) is feeling.

When taking notes, many students make the mistakes of mindlessly (不经思考地） writing down every word they hear without really understanding them. If you try to write every word, you will miss a lot of important information the teacher says.If you want to catch the key words and sentences, you will have to think when you listen. Besides （另外）, you can take notes by drawing mind maps when you listen.In this way,you will have to think more quickly.This is the true meaning of being "active" in class-listen and think at the same time.

Xunpu has attracted wide attention online after several stars shared photos of themselves wearing a kind of local headwear called Zanhuawei（簪花围）.

Xunpu women are among the three major groups of fishing women in Fujian.They are known for being hard﹣working，warm﹣hearted and brave.They usually wear seasonal flowers and often present them as gifts on big days.Local people often say， "When Xunpu women put a zanhua on their heads，they express their wish for happiness，and the flowers are seen as a symbol of hope."

Zanhuawei was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage（非物质文化遗产） sixteen years ago.

There are always interesting people doing crazy things in this world. Two young men took a taxi all the way from Sanya in Hainan to Urumqi in Xingjiang. It is about 4,600 km.

In 2021, the two men used Didi to call a taxi to go to Urumqi from Sanya, At first they just wanted to see if any driver would take the order. But they got a surprise that they didn't have to wait for too long. A driver took their order.

 Parents make the budget. Children choose a place to visit. Children will feel happy because they play a role in the family. And parents will be happy to see that too.

Family time will be a sweet memory (回忆) for everyone. So let's spend more time with family members. It makes us love each other more. These moments will stay in our hearts forever.
