China's flower culture has lasted for several thousand years.  With rich kinds of flowers, China is called"Mother of the World' s Gardens" by British plant expert (专家) Wilson. Flowers are not only beautiful, but also useful. 

Chinese people have cooked with flowers for a long time. Records show Shang Dynasty (朝代) cooks used flowers in meals.  Poet (诗人) Qu Yuan ate chrysanthemums during the Warring States Period.  In the Song Dynasty, people enjoyed plum flowers with rice porridge. Today, many places keep this tradition(传统). The Dai people cook banana flowers. Eating flowers isn't just about taste — it connects people with nature's seasons. 

Flowers also carried deep feelings.  Ancient Chinese grew flowers in gardens and pots to lift their spirits. During the Tang Dynasty, the flower markets were lively. Poets wrote about flowers to show feelings. Tao Yuanming dreamed of a"Peach Blossom Spring", and Zhou Dunyi praised the lotus. Flowers even got poetic names — peony meant"Jiang Li"(soon to leave). 

People also used flowers wisely in the past. They marked months by flower seasons and used flowers to create pretty things. From food to art, flowers colour every part of Chinese culture beautifully. 

During the last National Day, my friends and I had a special trip.  We attended the amazing flag-raising ceremony (仪式) at Tian' anmen Square. It was an important moment for 

However, the process was quite  . On the first day, although we got up at 4:30 am, we still missed the ceremony. The next morning, we got up a little  . But when we reached the square, . here were already of people. We couldn't move  or see anything well. So on the third day, we got up at 1:00 am. We arrived at the square before 1:30 am. Several hours later, the ceremony began: Because of our early  , we had a close watch of the flag-raising ceremony. At that time, we very excited to experience the great moment. Watching the national flag rise filled me with a sense of pride (自豪感). Even now, it still  my heart. 

I'm so lucky to see it live, while most people can only  it on television or online. I hope ourfuture will be brighter and brighter. 

National Day falls on October 1st every year to celebrate our motherland's birth. We have seven-day holiday. Many families travel to visit places of interest or stay  home to relax. Streets are decorated with bright national flags,  people enjoy wonderful shows happily. We feel proud our great country. What  you want to do to celebrate National Day this year?

Have you ever heard the saying"Home, sweet home"? This is just another way of saying that/ it's nice to be home. What do you like best about being at home? Maybe you like to play with your brothers and sisters. Maybe you enjoy staying with your mum and dad.  Spending time with them makes being at home special. 

 Your toys, your books, and your favorite things are in your bedroom. Think about what you like best about it. Maybe you like to have a quiet place to read a book or to think about your day. 

Mealtime can be a special time at home.  It's time to share interesting stories about your day. That makes you feel relaxed and communicate with family members better. 

There are a lot of things to do to make home a special place. Maybe you can help set the dinner table or clean the rooms. Maybe you can take the dog for a walk.  Think about what you can do, so that when you come home every day, you can say"Home, sweet home". 

Imagine you get up one day and decide to build yourself a house. Then how would you begin the work which seems very difficult? Just go for it without any ideas in mind? Or make a plan carefully and take action according to it?

If the thought of starting without a plan sounds ridiculous (荒谬的), you' re right. Many people have goals, but without a plan for achieving them, 92% of them will finally founder. 

Planning helps you focus on the work at hand. This helps you feel more in control(控制). Once you have a plan, you' ll be surprised at how much you' re able to finish in a certain(特定的) time and you start to understand yourself better. 

Then here comes the most important question: How can we make a plan? First, you have to write down your goal. It gives you the information about what you are going to do. Second, you can begin by picturing your goal. 

You may see it in your mind, then feel it and try it. Third, record your progress as you may need to make some changes to your plan during the process. 

Do you have the skills you need to reach your goal? When will you achieve your goal? Setting a final time drives you to act now, before it's too late. 

Mia and Alexandra are twin sisters born in China but raised (抚养) by two different families from two different countries. Mia grew up in California, USA, while Alexandra lived in a small fishing village in Norway. 

Mia's childhood (童年) was busier. She took violin lessons, played soccer and took part in different activities in the city. Her daily routine has made her happy and confident. On the other hand, Alexandra enjoyed a quieter, simpler life. She explored mountains and ice fields and spent time with animals in nature.

The story of the two girls shows that even though they grew up in different countries with different languages and cultures, the connection between them stayed strong.

A Sweet Memory of My Spring Festival at Home

A sweet Spring Festival memory at home took me back to the past. 

A: Hi, Teng Fei!

B: Hi, Fu Xing. The summer holiday is coming.  ?

A: I'm going to Beijing with my family.

A: By plane.

Many parents want to let their kids enjoy themselves when they' re still young. Others may think children can't finish the housework as fast as possible. I think they are actually wrong. There are several reasons for kids to do chores. 

Chores help improve life skills.  Kids are young now, but when they grow up, they need to do washing, cooking and cleaning. Most kids can't learn these life skills at school, but they can learn these at home. Chores help kids learn to be independent.  Cleaning their rooms or washing clothes can make them less dependent on others. They will think they can take care of themselves. 

Chores help teach them to respect others. They can't comprehend what their parents do around the house until they move away from home.  They may know the hardness of keeping their rooms tidy by doing house work themselves, so they can respect their parents' work at home. 

Chores help improve planning skills. It feels like there are a lot of things to do in a day. How to spend time on them? Chores can help kids build good habits early because they can learn to plan their time in the right-way. It is also an important skill for them in the future. 

During my summer holiday, I had nothing to do at home. I felt very .  "Why not volunteer to meet new  and try something new?" I thought. So I turned on my computer and on a website(网站), I found a farm in France. It wanted some volunteers to  there for a month. I sent them an e-mail, and soon I was working there. 

On the farm, I looked after those  and sheep! I soon discovered I was a terrible"father", but I was quite happy that I made some great friends and also  my French (法语). 

It  true that helping others makes us feel good but volunteering can bring other good things, too. I once volunteered in a clothes shop, so I could  my wardrobe(衣橱) with lots of nice and cheap clothes. 

Volunteering is  fun, but my favourite part is creating and sharing the stories with others.  experience on the farm gave me many funny stories to tell. It is  to have so much fun with many nice people because of volunteering!

Volunteers(志愿者) are always ready to help people in need. They offer free help  getting any money. Some volunteer to look  lonely seniors (老年人), some teach poor kids lessons, and others clean community streets.  small kindness lights up others' lives. Taking part in volunteer work lets us learn to love  care. More importantly, we  get great joy from helping others. 

All of us know the Chinese character (文字)"家". It means home and family in Chinese.  ?

In the Chinese character"家", "宀" means"house" and"豕" means"pig". ? Well, "家"comes from Jiaguwen. In old times, people liked to keep pigs at home, so"a house with pigs" means"home".

When I was five years old, I lived with my family in my grandma's old house. It was a very old and simple one in the countryside. But we were so happy there!

We didn't have a lot of money then, but we grew our own food and made our own clothes. I had great fun helping with the farm work like picking the strawberries and feeding the chickens. Mom was good at doing the sewing(缝补) and Grandma could knit(织) beautiful sweaters in all styles (样式). I could still remember how warm and lovely the clothes were when I was wearing them. 

Every day after school, I would play outside and wait for my dad to come home from work. He worked on cars all day and always came home tired with oil on his hands and clothes. But when he got home, he would clean up and si t in his old chair. And my favorite part came — climbing onto dad's back and watching TV together. His hands were so big and strong that I   ▲ 

Now I live in a big city. But I still remember those happy times with my family. I wish I could go back and sit with my family again. 

Summer vacations used to be boring for me. I just stayed at home watching TV all day. But last summer, I decided to try 1 new. I took up a summer camp. When I first 2 there, I was a bit worried because I didn't know anyone. But soon, I met some 3 campmates(露营同伴). We stayed in basic rooms. The rooms were small and not very nice, but the beds were very 4 . The air was fresh with a nice 5 of grass and flowers.
