Dafne Almazán, from Mexico, was a gifted child. She learned to read and write—without help—by the age of 3, finished high school by 10, became the youngest psychologist in the world at 15, and completed an advanced degree from Harvard University by 18. These accomplishments are so impressive that Forbes magazine her one of the 50 most powerful women in Mexico. According to the magazine, her lies in her ability to inspire others, such as the students at the CEDAT institute for gifted children in Mexico City. At CEDAT, Almazán teaches Mandarin and psychology. Her passion for teaching is important because gifted children sometimes to fit in. If this happens, they may not reach their potential. She hopes to inspire these children to make Mexico a better place.

Canadian Ann Makosinski says she started inventing simple things when she was a young child. Her hobby quickly became a passion. Before she reached her teens, for example, she won a prize at a local science fair for a radio that used heat from a for its power source. When Makosinski's friends in the Philippines that they couldn't do homework because there was not enough light to study after dark, she wanted to help. She invented a flashlight that uses body heat as a source of power: Hold it and the heat from your hand makes it light up. Her design won a prize at the Google Science Fair just before her 16th birthday. Makosinski's is to bring the flashlight to market so it can help people all over the world. She's also coming up with new inventions such as a cup that uses the heat from tea or coffee to a phone.
