"What do you think I should do?" asks your friend, as she sits beside you, waiting for your advice. This is no easy situation. Say something your friend disagrees with or something helpless, and you might feel you' ve disappointed her.

It's human nature to want to offer solutions when someone comes to you with a problem. It's also easy to fall into the trap of simply saying that"Everything will be OK". But we often say that because we believe we need to say something. This is because we' re glad that our friend has come to us for help, even if we don't really think we' re able to give it. The answer is yes. .. if it's done in the right way.

In fact, friends often really only want someone to listen to them.It's important to try to work out whether they' re actually asking for advice, or simply wanting to talk over whatever is going round in their head.  There's no harm in asking whether they'd like you to give suggestions.

It's also important to be honest. If you' re unable to think of a way to solve your friend's problem, just say so. Your friend won't feel upset, and you can still listen carefully and try to put yourself in their shoes.  You can ask yourself"What would I do if I were to experience the same thing?" Later you can go back to your friend with a few helpful suggestions.

 It can be hard to listen to your friend going over and over the same thing without being able to help them. They will certainly be thankful if you just allow them to"talk it out", though.Maybe they' re building up courage to take action, and need to convince(说服) themselves they' re doing the right thing. Just being there for them may be all you have to do to make things better.

Construction(建筑) is one of the biggest users of energy and one of the biggest polluters. According to AI Magazine, construction is responsible for using 38% of world energy. The building part alone takes up almost 55% of final energy use and 33% of greenhouse gases. It's also well known that steel produces too much material waste in building construction.

Because of this big challenge, the future of sustainable(可持续的) construction may lie with AI. AI is able to study building efficiency(效率) performance by grouping data to find the best chances for sustainable material usage. With a tool like AI, the future of sustainable construction could progress much faster than in the past. Besides, AI helps architects(建筑师) work withi new Tools  and sustainable materials to create our better buildings and cities of the future. For example, construction 3D printing guided by AI can offer better choices for building materials to save money, and map out how construction materials could be recycled.

AI can be used to speed up the future of sustainable construction to set standards for the industry, and make construction more efficient and affordable. Like any other computer, AI is a tool that is particularly good at studying data sets, but for the moment it still requires smart and ethical(有道德的) human beings to lead its work. All of that has to be done with respect for humans, so it's really up to us to make it work.

Every morning, a big riverside school in the forest of Borneo comes to life. The caretakers and teachers in the school are from a specialized team, and the students there are orangutans(猩猩)whose parents have gone missing, making it one of the most unusual schools in the world.

The orangutans aged from 2 to 8 years old are divided into five groups according to their skills. They are looked after by the team who feed the babies and teach the older ones to start feeding themselves. There are often problems in the beginning. For example,there was a lesson about how to break open a coconut to drink the milk inside. Several young orangutans couldn't do that and they got very angry about the whole thing!

Of course, as in any social group, the orangutans have to learn to get on with each other. There are the usual arguments over food when one orangutan doesn't get what he or she wants. However, with the care of the trainers, they gradually learn to accept each other.

In one of the lessons, the trainers teach young orangutans to climb trees. This is an important skill they need to learn. Some of the orangutans in particular were really scared. It took them a long time to get the courage to climb up and swing from a branch(树枝), but when they finally did it, they were so satisfied with themselves!

The goal of the"education system" is to train the orangutans to be able to live in the wild again and look after themselves. They won't have to stay at school forever! After the older orangutans are set free into the forest, there is no more connection with the people from the  school. They now have to live as wild orangutans again and be accepted by the other orangutans who are already there.

The day when they say goodbye is a difficult one. However, the trainers are happy that their job is done. They have successfully taught young orangutans how to live in the wild again—— where they belong.

When I was a kid, my two brothers and I would stay withGrandparents for a week during summer vacation. We always looked forward to spending every moment with them, especially Grandpa,the"hero" in our eyes.

Grandpa became blind when he was 20 years old, but it never slowed down the strong-willed(坚强的) man. He worked in a shop every day. Customers would give him money, and he would return the right change and give them exactly what they wanted. He had many friends who visited the shop just to talk to him, and at that time, Ihelped to hand customers their drinks and snacks. This made me feel grown-up.

He also cooked lunch and washed dishes while Grandma worked. As a boy, I would watch him move around the house from room to room as if he could see. I was so surprised about how he moved from cooking to washing the dishes, never making a mistake.

It seemed like every time I stayed with him, we would visit someone in the evening who was weak or very sick. Although he can't see things, he never let it stop him from working and being kind to others. His love for people never ended.

During those weeks, he taught me many lessons that I still treasure today. They take me back to those    days and remind me how special he was. I miss every moment I stayed with him. To this day, Istill dislike hearing someone say, "I can't do that," because I knew a blind man who never said those words.

China is a country of etiquette(礼仪). I'm working here as a foreign teacher and I'm leaving soon. I  (real) have a deep understanding of Chinese culture and society.

You can smell it before you see it. The sweet smell of sugar, eggs and cream fills the air. Once it is made to perfection, the inside is soft and the outside is crispy. A shiny and golden surface catches the eye. 

This, as you may have guessed, is the delicious egg tart (蛋挞). It's the famous dessert of Wong's cafe, one of the most popular places to eat in Macao. The sweet dessert is made fresh every day by the cafe's owner Margaret Wong. 

Few people know egg tarts better than Wong. After all, she created this dessert together with her husband Stow. Some people say Margaret's egg tarts are special, because they taste neither Western nor Chinese. According to Wong, that is exactly the point. 

It all started when Wong and Sto w opened their first cake house. Someone asked Sto w to make some cream cakes. The first plate of cakes came out burnt and wrong, and Sto w wanted to throw them away. But Wong said, "Hold on a minute. They can still be eaten. Don't waste food. " The couple let people try them for free. Unexpectedly, the customers loved them. They have ordered more and more egg tarts from then on. More than thirty years flies. The method of making Margaret's egg tarts remains the same. 

Whenever people talk about Macao, they mention egg tarts. Every day, hundreds of tourists and locals line up at Wong's cafe. "Sometimes people walk in and say' Can I just have one egg tart?' And I have to tell them, ‘Not even a small piece is left!'" Wong says with a smile. 

Animals use senses to find food and stay out of danger. People use them to find out what is happening with their bodies and in the world around them. You probably know about the five basic senses: hearing, seeing, smell, touch and taste. 

Pain Sense

Pain might be regarded as part of the sense of touch. Actually, it isn't. People and other animals can feel pain even when nothing is touching them.  It can also warn people to stop or change what they are doing before they get hurt. 

Temperature Sense

People can sense the changes in temperature. In winter, many old people move from the cold place to the warm place. The same thing happens to animals.  So they have the habit of winter sleep. 

Time Sense

Scientists think humans have the best sense of time. But probably other animals sense it, too. For example, dogs will wait at the door at a certain time. 

Using Sounds to"See"

Some animals can"see" the things around them in the dark  By making sounds and listening to echoes(回声), some whales and birds have this unusual sense. 

In a word, many other senses are also being studied besides the senses above. As you explore the world, think about the other senses that animals, including you, use every day. 

A large number of studies point out the advantages of expressive writing. It is a method of helping people get out of worries by writing them down on paper. Some people took part in a six-week program of expressive writing in Duke University. The result showed that they improved their ability to feel better from worries.

In modern life, people are busy and sometimes worried. Expressive writing is a good helper. It can help people understand and manage feelings. The key is to start at once. 

①You may wonder how you can find beauty in the place you' ve known so well. People usually think only by going to places far away can they feel that. In fact, what you need to do is to explore(探索) with fresh eyes. 

②Imagining yourself as a guide is a good way. Where will you suggest visitors go if they come to Changchun? You can find some good places by answering it. A good option is a museum of cars, where you can learn about the history of the car industry, and know the development of different brands of cars. 

③To find changes in your city, you can look up some information online. You may findBeijing West Street, which is a new cultural landmark in Changchun. It has become a hot topic. It used to be a common street. The buildings there have been rebuilt. Many drama festivals, street art shows and fairs of cultural products are held. The minute you arrive, you will be shocked by a rush of fresh energy in the busy air. 

④Going somewhere in person and watching, you will get something unexpected. When you visit Jingyue National Forest Park, nature seems the only thing to enjoy. But surprisingly, you' ll also find so many people doing different outdoor activities, like walking, riding and camping. The beautiful scenes of human and nature will be printed in your mind, inspiring you to try something fantastic in no time. 

⑤Exploring your city in a different light, you can know more about its history, culture and development. You will fall in love with where you live hundreds of times with a pair of admiring eyes. 

Not long ago, a photo of the football players in my college showed up on my phone as a"memory", which was kept through the digital memory(数字记忆). I was surprised to see the photo at first and sweet memories flashed into my mind. 

In the photo, the players from the football team hugged together in excitement after they won the game. At that time, I took a photo of them with my phone. It recorded the friendship and the happiness. Then, I fell into the habit of taking photos of everything. More and more photos filled my phone so I almost forgot this photo. Thanks to the digital memory, I could enjoy the happy time again. 

People needed to make an effort to record things in the past. But now we can do something like that easily through the digital memory. We put what we want to remember into our smartphones. Most of the photos that I have kept on my phones— and in the cloud now——bring happy memories back to me. 

However, not all the digital memories are happy. Some are sad. When I see the photos of my lost pet, I am worried. Because they make me recall something I want to forget. Usually, digital memories are sent to me non-stop and without any human-like feelings. That drives me crazy. 

It's hard to say clearly when the digital memory started madly. These digital memories, whether happy or sad, break into our lives. In my job as a reporter, I have spent the past five years taking different photos. They will always be there, whatever. 

The community plays an important role in improving people's life. A week ago, SunCommunity did a survey by talking on the phone. They' ve known about a growing need for students' free time activities. Now, they put a notice on their website.
