Studying is usually the least favourite thing among students. Most of them dislike the idea of studying. Why? Shouldn't studying be a fun activity to do, especially in the path of acquiring (获得) knowledge? If you want to be good at studying, it is very important to have good study habits. Here are some tips.

Firstly, in order to study, you must always choose a quiet area as this will help you to stay focused. A school, a public library, a coffee shop, or a quiet corner of your house can all be good places to study.

Lastly, practise, practise, practise! Musicians practise their instruments. Athletes practise sports skills. If you want to be able to remember information, the best thing you can do is practise. You can take practice tests or fun quizzes.

As major domestic (国内的) official media have pointed out, pre-made food, as a product of industrial food production, has its advantages that cannot be replaced. It meets the needs for fast meals in a fast-paced society, helps food businesses cut costs and workers, and improves efficiency. What's more, it can reduce food waste through standard rules.

However, problems cannot be ignored (忽视). First, food safety is a top worry. If there is no proper check, long-term storage and complex supply chains may bring risks like microbe pollution. Second, the lack of clear information breaks consumers' right to know that many restaurants use pre-made food without telling customers, and customers pay for what they think is freshly cooked dishes. Third, some products have quality problems, such as using too many additives (添加剂) to make food last longer.

To make sure the pre-made food industry develops healthily, stricter checks are badly needed. The government should improve standards, make production and delivery checks stronger, and ask businesses to tell customers they use pre-made ingredients. Only in this way can the industry's growth be balanced with the protection of consumers' legal rights.

However, as they walked on, they found they were lost. Becky started to cry wildly.

"Surely, your mother will see tonight that you haven't come back," Tom said. "She'll send people out to look for you."

Tom had some kite string in his pocket. He took it out and tied one end to a rock. Then he told Becky to sit and wait for him. Tom lit the candle again and made his way down one of the roads. He didn't get far when the floor in front of him suddenly dropped fast into the black world below. He stretched his arm to feel how deep the drop was. While he was feeling around, his hand touched another hand. Tom jumped back and held out his candle to see who was there. A face then appeared. It was the face of Injun Joe.

Thousands of people gathered early to watch this historic event, which sent a strong message of peace and strength to the world.

It began with a serious ceremony. President Xi reviewed the troops and gave a speech. Behind him stood big buildings shaped like the Great Wall, with the numbers "1945" and "2025", which symbolized the long journey from victory to modern progress. More than 20 foreign leaders attended the event, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, showing international support for China's efforts to remember history and develop peace.

China's newest military progress was shown in the parade (阅兵). More than 10000 soldiers walked in very tidy lines, and after them came hundreds of modern weapons. Many weapons were shown publicly for the first time ever, such as systems to stop drones and items for fighting under the sea.

Over 35 million Chinese soldiers and common people lost their lives, and the country fought for 14 years to stop Japan's invasion. The parade let the world know about these losses and showed China's recent role as a global peacekeeper.

The parade ended with a flight show of more than 100 planes, leaving colorful trails in the sky. President Xi's speech stressed again that China's promise is to keep world peace and its goals for becoming modern. As the country moves to become a fully modern society by 2035, the event showed both its pride in history and its hopes for the future.

As a university student, I decided to learn German. For some reason, I really liked the language, but I was not very good at learning it. The grammar1 me a lot and even drove me crazy. My only advantage was2—I got an A on every word test I took. After two years of study, I managed to communicate in broken German and applied to study in Germany to complete my degree. It was the3 term I would ever have.

The moment I arrived in Germany, I felt like I was making a fresh start. The German I learned in university wasn't4 for everyday conversation. Recently, the outdoor company Arc'teryx was in a "storm"—it held a firework show in the Himalayas in Tibet, a very special and fragile (脆弱) place.

The company said the show was to respect nature and they had already used green materials, but many people still couldn't agree with it. They worried the fireworks would hurt the environment and their worries were not without reason.

We all know that the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (高原) has a famous name called "Roof of the World", because it is the highest plateau in the world and also the largest plateau in China. However, it has another big title—"Water Tower of Asia". Its water resources (资源) take up more than 1/5 of China's total water resources, not including the part in the ice yet.

One in five people on Earth live on the freshwater in Himalayas. Climate change and environmental pollution (污染) may make it hard for more than a billion people to get enough fresh water. Now Dorothy feels sorry for him. "We are going to the Emerald City to see the Great Oz," she says. "I want to ask him to send me back to Kansas. The Scarecrow wants to ask him for a brain and the Tin Woodman wants to ask him for a heart." "Come with us, you can ask him for some courage."

The Cowardly Lion smiles. "Thank you," he says.

The Forbidden City is also known as the Palace Museum. It lies in the city centre of Beijing, and it(be) once the Chinese imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was listed as a world heritage site in 1987 and is the (large), best-preserved ancient wood-built palace complex (建筑群) in the world.

Have you ever washed your clothes without detergent (洗涤剂)? I' ve been doing this (自……以来) May 2023. In the summer, most of my-(衬衫) and trousers only get dirty with sweat(汗).Therefore, a fast wash with pure water is all that is needed. It's not about costs — detergents are not (昂贵). It's all about reducing plastic pollution to protect the (环境) and us humans.

Many detergents have microplastics (微塑料) in them. In addition, washing clothes (造成) them to drop tiny plastic fibres(纤维). These fibres are also a (种类) of microplastic. And washing clothes with detergent drops 86% more of these fibres than washing clothes with pure water.

Duck is a traditional meat in China, and the dish was called shāo yāzi (simply"roast duck") in the TangDynasty. A fresh duck was roasted over a wood fire. On this basis, the cooking method was improved by later people.

Its cooking method was mentioned in the book Complete Recipes for Dishes and Beverages in 1330 by HuSihui, who worked at the imperial (皇帝的) kitchen. It was one of the main dishes on imperial kitchen menus by then (the Yuan Dynasty).

In 1368, the Ming Dynasty was founded, and the capital lay in Nanjing. Imperial chefs cooked a duck by hanging it over a wood fire, making it crisp (酥脆的) and smell great, fatty but not greasy (油腻的). The emperor liked it very much, so the dish was officially named"roast duck".

During the rule of the Yongle Emperor, the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty, he ordered that the capital be moved from Nanjing to Beijing. In this way, the roast duck recipe was also brought to Beijing. After that, the popularity of roast duck gradually spread to the local people. With its popularity in Beijing, this dish became known as"Beijing roast duck".

In 1416, the first known restaurant of roast duck opened in Beijing, called Bianyifang. There they roasted the duck in a closed oven (烤炉) having first heated the walls of the oven with sorghum stalks (高粱茎) to give a crispy finish to the duck.

In 1864, another famous roast duck restaurant opened, called Quanjude. There they used a different way of cooking: hanging the duck to roast over the fire in an open oven. Styles of these two restaurants still exist today, so we suggest you     ▲     while you' re visiting Beijing.

By the mid-20th century, Beijing roast duck had become a symbol of the traditional Chinese dishes and the top choice dish served when foreign leaders visited our country.
