F 爱心之举·免费的热心早餐

In Sichuan, more than 10 shop owners are giving out free breakfast to people on the street. Why are they doing so? They want to tell people to remember to have a healthy breakfast. During the past few years, they have offered over 20, 000 servings(份) of free breakfast. 

The shop owners offer free breakfast to street cleaners, policemen, students and people on their way to work. Besides the breakfast, in each bag, there is a piece of paper with some warm words, like"Do not forget to have breakfast no matter how busy you are!"

The kind act started in November, 2016, when Ling Gang, the owner of a restaurant, came up with the idea of providing free breakfast for street cleaners. Ling and other shop owners set up a group and began to offer free breakfast, like bread and milk, once a month. Later, more volunteers and shop owners joined them. Now there are 213 volunteers and more than 10 shop owners in the group. 

At first, the group sent out several hundred servings of free breakfast each time, but now they can make it to 1, 000 servings each time. "The kindness will go on and I hope     △     , " Ling said. 

Whether you like it or not, artificial intelligence(AI) is here to stay. It has already been used in many different fields. And now one of them is to help find missing children. 

In Hubei Province, a group of 30 students at Huazhong University ofScience and Technology (HUST) are working on a special project. They have developed an AI system and it can restore(修复) old photos. The clearer photos allow them to better look for missing people. 

Sheng Jianzhong set up the project in 2020. At the time, he was a student at HUST. One day, he came across a missing child notice. The photos on the notice were difficult to make out. "These photos may be of no practical use even if the child is around, " he said. As a result, Sheng decided to use his skills to help missing children. And to his surprise, many of his schoolmates volunteered to join him. 

Over the past few years, the team has tried to develop an AI system for restoring photos. The team has restored more than 1, 000 photos. With the help of the AI system, 11 missing children were successfully found. For example, in December 2021, Sun Haiyang found his son after 14 years of searching thanks to the AI system. 

In the future, Sheng plans to build a more excellent team to run the project. The goal is not just to further improve the technology. More importantly, he hopes to see more young people work for good causes. 

Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in your community. And you' ll feel good about doing something that helps people or improves the places around you. 

This past summer, my friends and I noticed how littered our neighbourhood park was. We wanted it to be different. We worked without parents or teachers to clean up the park. We had fun making the park much better than before, and now people in the whole neighbourhood are able to share and enjoy it again. 

Maybe cleaning up a park isn't your choice. No problem! You can turn anything into a volunteer project. Do you like playing chess, reading, or spending time with your pet? You can volunteer to do what you love to do. For example, you could help at an old people's home, simply by talking or playing games with the old to make their days better. If you' re good at maths or English, you could volunteer to be a homework helper at your school. You' re always needed to walk dogs and play with cats. Or you can collect things for homeless people, such as soap and toothbrushes. 

You see, there is something for everyone. Whatever you do as a volunteer, you will enjoy your time. Kids everywhere can make a difference by volunteering. You can too!

In some parts of the world, children don't have enough food to eat or enough money to buy clothes or shoes. Every year at Sunshine MiddleSchool, we do something to raise money for these children. This year we will have Market Day. 

Market Day will fall on July 

8. We are going to make the student centre at our school look just like a big shopping centre! People can come at any time from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. and buy everything from clothes to books, cakes and flowers. 

Luckily for us, many volunteers will help prepare for the big event. Last year, Ms. Grant and Ms. Ali made some wonderful cakes for our charity event. They will do it again this year. Bill Thomas will visitBookworm Bookshop and Mel' s Music Shop and ask them to give us things that we can sell at the event. Philip White will e-mail all the teachers and ask them to come to our event. Alice Brown will put a message online telling the public the event is open to everyone. 

However, there is more to do, and we need your help. We want you to give us things that we can sell—— anything that we can sell to raise money for poor children. We also need some student volunteers to sell the things on Market Day. 

With your help, we will certainly have a successful event!

A year ago, I volunteered to teach at a small village school in Guizhou Province. As a volunteer teacher, I travelled a long way to the area. On my way here, I thought about the village, the school and the children here. However, my heart sank (心情沮丧) when I arrived here. It wasn't what I had expected. It didn't look like a school at all! The school had only three rooms—— one for Grades 1, 2and 3, one for Grades 4, 5 and 6, and the third one for me. 

The children welcomed me warmly on my first day. They asked me a lot of questions, and I told them stories about myself and my life in the city. The next day, I gave them an exam to find out their level. To my surprise, though the exam was very easy, over half of the students flunked it. But they all wanted to learn new things. I knew they needed me. 

I was busy preparing lessons and correcting exam papers every night. I enjoyed teaching these lovely and hard-working children, and I could see that they were making progress with my help. I have also learned a lot from them. I understand their lives better, and we are now good friends. 

I have worked here for a year now. I'm very happy, and the experience has been very useful to me. I love the small village and the children here, and they still need me.

B:I saw that many countryside students were working hard but didn't have enough support. I wanted to help them do better. 

A: What do the local people think of your program?

B: Many parents thank me for helping their children.

B:I plan to make it bigger so more kids can get help. I believe every child should have the chance to learn and improve. 

Last summer, we had a volunteer activity in a village school. In the school, I saw a name, Feng Aiguo, on a list. This man 1 much money to the school. I thought he must be a 2 man. 

One day, on my way home from school, my bike was broken. 3 , I found a repairing stand (维修摊) across the street. An old man was repairing a bike. He was wearing a clean suit. He looked energetic. While waiting, I knew something about him from the old men chatting there. He was Laofeng and 4 to repair bikes after he retired(退休). Two months ago, his family 5 to a new house. His son didn't want him to repair bikes any longer. He bought him suits and asked him to wear them and rest at home. But it didn't work. The old man 6 his repairing work in his suits.
