I'd like to introduce three books that I like very much to you.

Rose is my good friend. She told me that she would come to Japan for vacation in July. But she was very anxious. She said she didn't know what to do in Japanese restaurants. I had to ask her to understand these table manners and tell her what to do in the restaurant. 

Some restaurants in Japan have the tatami floor( 榻榻米地板). When you step in a restaurant, you must take off your shoes. When you sit at the table, you will receive a small wet cloth at most Japanese restaurants. Use this to wash your hands before eating, then carefully fold it and set it aside on the table. Don't use it as a napkin, or to touch any part of your face. 

Before and after a meal, it is important to say traditional thank-you words. You can make a little noise when you eat. For example, it is common to make some slurping noises while you' re eating noodles. The Japanese can say the food tastes better if you slurp. For sushi, you should eat up. It is polite to lift small bowls of rice or soup when you eat. After you finish your meal, it is good manners to restore all your dishes to the way they were at the beginning of the meal. For example, you can put chopsticks back on the chopstick shelf. I think these manners are helpful to her. 

①Water is one of the most useful things on Earth. It gives us life but sometimes water is so powerful that it can even be destructive (破坏性的) . Here we talk about floods. 

②There are two main kinds of floods: flash floods and slow floods. Flash floods are sudden floods of great volumes of water. They overflow( 溢 出 ) the river banks and break everything they touch into pieces. Flash floods are destructive. The other type is slow floods. They rise over a long time. Usually as more and more rain falls, the water in rivers rises and the land floods. These slow floods happen in every country in the world. 

③Floods are the world's biggest natural killer. When floods happen, they damage( 毁坏 ) crops, wash away houses, destroy roads, and kill people. Every year in America, water kills over 100 people, most in flash floods. Floods also cause huge economic losses(经济损失) . 

④Floods are a serious problem. Worse still, they may become more powerful and happen more often as global(全球的) warming becomes more and more serious. Around the world, sea level will rise, and the floods will take more lives. 

⑤Floods are a serious natural disaster and we must try to stop them from happening often to protect our lives and homes.

In the South China Sea, there is a group of Jiaoren, or Chinese mermaids, whose tears become pearls(珍珠) after they fall. To the north of Kunlun Mountains, there is a monster called Xiangliu, which has nine heads with human faces but the body of a snake. These magic creatures are from the ancient mythical(神话的) book Shan Hai Jing. 

Shan Hai Jing, also known as The Classic of Mountains and Seas, is said to be at least 2, 200 years old. It is about the culture and geography of China before the Qin Dynasty. It has 31, 000 words, more or less. The whole collection includes eighteen parts, talking about more than 550mountains and 300 seas. It also tells many interesting stories and creatures. 

A famous story in the book is about Zhu Rong, the God of Fire. He was seen as having a beast-like body and a human face, riding around the sky on two dragons. When he had a big fight with Gong Gong, the God ofWater, Zhu Rong won. But after the fight, the human world became dark. Then he brought fire from heaven to the world and taught humans how to use it. 

It is an important ancient book in the pre-Qin period of China and thought as one of the treasures of Chinese culture. 

Meng Chen is a university student in Beijing. He goes to the PalaceMuseum almost every day. He tells visitors about the clocks in the Hall of Clocks and Watches(钟表馆) . Meng is one of around 300 volunteer tour guides in the Forbidden City. One third of them are university students as well. They hang around the palace like other visitors, but with red"volunteer" cards on their clothes. 

Meng loves spending time in the buildings where 24 emperors spent their whole lives. "Every brick(砖) has a story to tell, " he said. 

But volunteer work is more than fun. Meng has to study for the job. It took him about three months to remember every detail(细节) of the clocks in the clock gallery. 

Volunteer work can be frustrating sometimes. Often tourists turn down volunteer guides. "Too many people are in a rush to finish sightseeing( 观 光 ) . They don't have time to listen to us, " said Shi Hui. He is a university student who volunteers there as Meng Chen. On his second day, Shi walked around for three hours until he found a man in his 50s who was happy to listen to him. "It's always fun to have listeners who are interested in your talk, " Shi said.

Last summer, I went to Yunnan on vacation with my family. We 1 four days there. 

Our first stop was Lugu Lake. I wondered why there was so beautiful a lake in the world. I enjoyed 2 there. We went boating and took quite a few photos. Then we went up to a hill. On the top of the 3 , we got to see something beautiful. I felt like I was in a painting. I thought I would 4 forget the beautiful scenery there.
