Dear Abby,
I'm a middle school student. Studying at home after school is hard because I just want to relax after a long day at school. My grades are OK, but I'm worried that if this continues, they will become worse.
When I got home after school, I was hungry and I would eat whatever was around. I know it is not healthy, so now I only have a glass of water until dinner. But I'm not sure if that's healthy. Exercising at home doesn't happen because I'm busy playing computer games or doing homework.
I go to bed at 9 pm, and I have to wake up at 5 the next morning. How can I get good grades, be healthy and also have time to relax?
Toby
Dear Toby,
If you arrive home with low energy, put on your walking shoes and go for a walk or do some other forms of exercise. When you return home, have a piece of fruit or an egg. That could be helpful. Water is healthy and you should drink it as much as possible.
After you have had your dinner, do your homework. If you finish it, there should be about an hour in the evening for you to relax before bedtime.
Abby

Do you want to live a happier life? Try laughing. Many doctors think that having a good laugh might be one of the (good) ways to stay healthy.
Dr. Madan Kataria (run) the first Laughter Yoga Club in Mumbai, India. He started it in 1995 and still works there today. "Young (child) laugh about 300 times a day. Adults(成年人)laugh between 7 and 15 times a day, " says Dr. Kataria (proud). "Everyone is good at laughing. We expect people (make) themselves happy with laughter.
Scientists at UCLA in California learned something: If you laugh a lot, you'll probably be good health. I went to club near my home before. A laughter teacher told us to clap(拍) (we) hands and say, "Ho ho ho, ha ha ha. " Minutes later, everybody in the room was laughing out loud. We did different kinds of laughter exercises and finally I was surprised by how (relax) I felt.
So you're upset about something, just start laughing. As Dr. Kataria said, "When you laugh, you change, and when you change, the world around you changes. "

Everyone has different feelings every day. Sometimes we feel happy, and sometimes we feel sad. These feelings are a 1 part of life.

Have you ever tried to hide(隐藏)your emotions from someone during a conversation?
"Scientists from the Ohio State University have found that people are able to know other people's emotions according to changes in the colour of their faces, " The Guardian reported. They studied pictures of people's facial expressions. They found that every facial expression has a different colour pattern(模式).
For example, happiness makes our faces red around the cheeks and the temples and a little blue around the chin.
"We believe these colour patterns result from small changes in the blood flow(血液流动), " scientist Aleix Martinez told The Guardian.
But this brings the question: Is it just the colour, or also facial expressions, that help people tell others' emotions?
To find this out, scientists added colour patterns to pictures of faces that showed no facial expressions. Those people were able to tell the emotions right 75 percent of the time.
This may explain why there are some Chinese sayings about emotions and the colour of one's face. For example, when two people are fighting about something, we say they are mian hong er chi.
A. When a person is very angry, we say he or she is lian se fa qing.
B. Hate creates a blue-yellow colour around the lips and a red-green colour around the nose and the forehead.
C. Lots of people do this so that others can't tell how they really feel.
D. It's not always easy because the colours on your face may tell the truth.
E. They asked some people to tell what emotions the faces were showing.

Saying "I am sorry" means apologizing. It is not always easy to apologize to someone, but it can help make things better.
Sometimes we do things we should not do. You might fight with a friend and say bad things to her. You might break a rule at school. When you know you did something wrong, apologizing is the right thing to do.
Sometimes accidents happen. When you walk on the street, you might step on someone's foot. It is still a good idea to apologize. You can apologize like this, "I wish that did not happen. "
Sometimes you do not start the conflict(纠纷). You might get angry and throw your classmate's book away if he says something bad to you. You might think, "I did not start it, so I don't have to apologize. " The student is wrong to say bad things to you, but it's not right for you to throw his book away. You should also apologize for what you did wrong.
Apologizing when you aren't sorry does not help much. Take some time to calm down and think about what happened. Then try apologizing. You will feel better about yourself and you will know you did the right thing. So, apology can make the world harmonious(和谐的).

Anger isn't a good feeling. Anger may make us feel uncomfortable, but it's also normal. Unluckily, many of us are used to hiding(隐藏)our feelings. A study shows that this can make a big difference to our health.
Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry? The study points out that when we show our anger in this way, we can't probably get on well with our friends or our family. The longer we keep being angry, the worse result we'll get. So what can we do with our angry feelings in a right way?
First, know what makes us angry. Anger often results from feelings of fear, disappointment and so on.

Dear Sun Meng,
In your last e-mail, you asked me how to deal with stress and worries. One good way that many students in my country find helpful is using a worry box. Let me explain how to make and use one.
Try using a worry box
Make a special box
Use colourful things and pictures to make your worry box. Here is a picture of my worry-eating monster(怪兽)box!

Write down your worries
Take some pieces of paper and write down your worries.
Rate(评价)your worries and store them in the box
If you like, place each worry on a scale(等级)from 1 to 10. 1 means "a little worried" and 10 means "the most worried". For example, today I put two worries into the box. I rated "losing my new bike" 7 and "worrying about the math exam" 4.

Talk it out
Make sure of making some time every day or week to talk about your worries with your parents. Together, you can find ways to deal with them.
Remember, it's not healthy to carry worries around in your head. The worry box provides a safe place to "share" your worries. By using it, you'll learn to deal with your worries.
Take care!
Yours,
Anna

These days, many kids like collecting special things called "Goods(谷子)". Fans often call them "guzi". Among these Goods, the most popular is the badge(徽章), known as "baji".
These badges are usually small and round, and there are pictures of characters from famous cartoons on them. However, not every company(公司)can sell badges. Only some cartoon companies have the right to sell those badges, and their prices differ a lot. Usually, common badges might cost 15 to 30 yuan.
Why do teenagers love badges so much? First, wearing a badge shows their love for a cartoon. It makes them feel close to the characters they like. Second, badges help them make friends. At anime conventions, badge lovers talk to each other, trade badges, and meet people with the same hobbies. They know they're part of a big group.
But sometimes this hobby can cause problems. Some fans spend too much money—they even use their breakfast money to buy expensive badges. Others get upset if they can't get the badges they want, or if someone else has a better collection.
Collecting "baji" and other kinds of "guzi" can be a fun hobby. But it's also important to remember not to spend too much money or get too stressed about it. After all, the real magic of cartoons is in the stories and the feelings they give us, not just in the badges we collect.

D、Clothes with cartoon characters.(2)、Which sentence has the same meaning of "right" as that in Paragraph 2?A、Most people are used to using their right hands. B、We should be able to right the wrongs of our past. C、You have no right to stop me going into this public park. B、To introduce different kinds of famous cartoons. C、To stop teenagers from buying any kind of badges. D、To advise(建议)teenagers not to get lost in collecting badges. -

Dear Amy,
My special hobby is picking up rubbish. Yes, that's right. And I especially enjoy collecting waste wood. These pieces of wood may not be wanted(被需要)by others, but my grandfather and I can give them a new life. We love turning them into flower shelves, sunshades and even swings. We place them in our garden and they make us very happy. They also give our garden a sense of design.
I also like picking up bottles. These are usually empty bottles. We can repurpose(略微改动)them by making holes at the top and use them to water flowers. Of course there can be many other uses for these bottles.
I find picking up these waste things very enjoyable. Some people think it's difficult to discover the hidden treasures of waste things, but it is a piece of cake for me. I'm really good at turning these seemingly useless objects into useful resources. They can help us do many things and create a much cleaner environment.
We are always encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. By doing these, we can not only create cool new things but also play our part in protecting the environment.
My special hobby of recycling rubbish really brings me a lot of fun and a sense of accomplishment(成就感). Would you join me? Let's do our part to help make the world a cleaner and better place!

Dear Badminton,
I remember the days before we met clearly. Every day when I got home, there was nothing that interested me. Years passed, but nothing changed. Then you moved to the playground near my house. You opened your doors wide. You let me walk in.
At first, I was really nervous when I started playing. I failed a lot. I was out of breath. I ran badly. But no matter how many times I messed up, you always let me have another try. You were so patient with me.
I used to worry that badminton would just be another hobby I'd give up, like piano playing, cake making or painting. But now I know you're special. You make me want to be a better person. I get up early to practice, eat healthy food and sleep well.
One day, when I was on the playground, I saw some old people coming to play. I suddenly had the answer to that question I was once asked—"What do you want to be when you grow up?" I want to be there with you till the end.
