I  to travel to Beijing this summer vacation with my parents and explore its rich history and culture. I am  trying the delicious Peking duck and traditional snacks at the hutongs. My mother  me to visit the Palace Museum to learn about China's ancient royal history. My family really likes traveling, and I we could visit every corner of the world to experience different cultures.

Du Shi was a clever man of Nanyang during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Surprisingly, he a machine called"Shui Pai". At that time, it was especially hard for people to make iron(铁器). Though they spent long  working, it was hard to make much iron. Du felt pity when he saw this.

To find a solution, Du often wandered(漫步) around, hoping for inspiration. One sunny afternoon, Du walked along the river . He watched the water rush by, washing  branches and leaves. Suddenly, an idea came to his mind. "The strong flow of the river could be one of the keys!" Without wasting any time, he got home and began his work quickly. He collected nice wood and some simple things from the forest to make wheels.

First, the wheels didn't turn well with sticks and ropes. It was  that the ropes often broke,and then the wheels stopped moving. Du worked hard for weeks and didn't stop. And he  made it. It used the running river to turn the wheels, which then drove a device(设备) to blow air into the fire in iron-making. With this machine, people could make  iron than before. Besides, in other fields got help with even more things made by iron. This saved much time and energy.

Du's clever idea showed that even a simple thing like water could make a big  .

I bought a beautiful hairpin (发夹) for my sister Claire's birthday. When Claire's birthday came, I waited 1 her room with the gift. However, she just showed a polite smile. My heart sank(低落) when I realized she wasn't 2 in it.

That night, I told Mom about what had happened. She said," Everyone has their 3 preferences." Her words made me think a lot. Later that week, I noticed that Claire always talked about her 4 writer and books. Suddenly,I Knew what to choose Then I went to the bookstore and bought a novel. As soon as the book was given to Claire, she thanked me 5 . And a warm feeling spread through me.

That day I learned the best gifts are things that can show we truly understand others.

One day, my English teacher, Mr. Johnson, told us about a storytelling competition. We all had to write and tell the most interesting stories we could imagine in class. But I was a quiet and shy girl. I it. However, Mr. Johnson encouraged me.

Then I decided to  about my pet cat, Whiskers. The more I wrote, the more excited Ibecame. On the day of the competition, I felt very nervous again. When it was , I took a deep breath and started telling my story. As I spoke, everyone listened carefully. They smiled and laughed at the funny parts. When I finished, the class .

Mr. Johnson said I had a wonderful talent for storytelling. I was . Finally, I found my special talent, too. I felt happier and more confident than before from that day on. I learned that everyone has their own talents.

On June 12th, we will have two ball games, soccer and volleyball. The volleyball game interesting. Not only will our class cheer loudly, but many teachers plan to join us. My good friend looks forward to playing well in the volleyball . I love sports very much but I don't play them——I only watch them on TV. However, my sister Gina loves playing sports. She is  by a volleyball player named Cindy Smith, whose story of never  always encourages her to keep practicing.

Dear Jenny,

You have a colorful school life . Now it's my turn to talk about my school life.

Since this term began, I have had to spend more time on my subjects. I'm  on Tuesday than on any other day. I am very thirsty for the  class——P. E. We can play all kinds of sports in P. E.class. We have a reading class at 1:30 p. m. every day. It's my favorite part  it can help me improve my reading skills. The stories from different books can also open up new worlds for me. And after that,I have an art class for two . It is really relaxing I can draw whatever I imagine, turning ideas into pictures.

My grandparents gave me a cute cat last summer. Its name is Coco. Coco is the  member of my family, besides my parents, me and a dog Joy. Coco is three years old now.

To celebrate Coco's  birthday, I planned to make a little house for it with my parents. We first collected wood for the walls and floor to make sure it was hard enough. Then, for the  step,we carefully made a door for it to come and go freely. After finishing the door, three fourths of the house had been completed. Finally, my father made a beautiful roof(屋顶) for the little house.

When the house  , I felt very proud—— Coco seemed to love its new home, curling up(蜷缩)inside happily. I posted some pictures of Coco's new home online. To my surprise, the post quickly got attention. of people gave our work likes and praised our efforts.
