It was a hot summer's day. Clara was drinking a glass of juice in the garden. The grass was long and her mom was cutting the grass with a lawn mower (割草机). Suddenly, the lawn mower stopped working. Clara's mom looked upset and picked something up out of the grass. Clara wondered what was wrong and went closer to see. Her mom had a turtle (乌龟) in her hand!

"I think I broke its leg." she said to Clara, "I'm really sorry. Will you help me take care of it until it gets well?" Clara felt pity for the little turtle. Turtles move slowly, so it probably could not run away when it saw the lawn mower coming. And Clara's mom could not see the turtle in the long grass!It happened completely by accident, but they would try their best to help him.

Clara named the turtle Phillip. She and her mom took Phillip to the vet (兽医). The vet took an X-ray of Phillip's leg, which showed that it was broken. The turtle got a bandage (包扎) for his broken leg.

The vet told Clara that Phillip needed plants to eat, water to drink and a place to live in. Clara took the turtle home and took good care of him. She brought him fruit and leaves to eat and kept his water bowl clean. After 10 days of treatment, Phillip seemed to be better.

Eight weeks later, Clara and her mom took Phillip back to the vet and they were told that his leg was well enough to walk by himself everywhere. Because of the good news, Clara had to let Phillip go, though she wasn't able to bear to be apart with him. When Clara got home, she kissed Phillip, said goodbye and let him go. Clara would always remember Phillip.

Once upon a time, there was a wise old man who had seven sons. But his sons (be) always fighting. This made some bad people happy because they wanted to cheat the brothers out of their father's money.

One day, the father decided (help) his sons stop fighting. He brought them together, tied seven chopsticks together and said, "I will give all of my money the one who can break this bundle (捆) of chopsticks."

The seven sons tried to break chopsticks, but it was too hard. They all thought that it was (possible).

"Yet, my sons," said the father, "it's actually easy to do like this." Saying this, he untied the chopsticks and broke (they) one by one easily.

"Aha!" said his sons, "It's easy to do that way. Anyone can do it."

The father (go) on, "As it is with these chopsticks, so it is with you. If you stick together and help each other, you will do well, and nobody can harm you. But if you fight, you will be like these chopsticks are easy to break."

The seven sons listened (careful) and promised to stick together. They kept their promise and faced (difficulty) together, just as their wise father had taught them.

Next is productive labor (生产劳动), including agriculture, making traditional handicrafts, and applying (应用) new technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting. The third type is service work, which includes volunteer work.

And many of them regard housework as a waste of children's time. But according to the MOE, labor education must be built up to help students cultivate (培养) social values and develop an interest in labor.

People have been busy discussing the new standards on social media. Liu Fang is a mother of 12-year-old twins in Beijing. Since last year, she has trained her daughters to do household chores and make simple dishes for the family. "The main purpose is to let them share responsibility as family members. It also helps them become independent as early as they can," said Liu.

Scientists at Suzhou University, China, have invented a new kind of solar panel now. It can produce electricity not only from solar energy but also from falling rain. When a raindrop falls on the solar panel and then rolls down, it creates friction (摩擦力) on the surface of the panel, which can then be turned into electricity.

Sun Boquan is one of the inventors. "Our new invention can produce electricity in any weather during the day," he says. "It can even provide electricity at night if there is rain."

The new solar panel, however, does not make much electricity from falling rain. So Sun Boquan is still working hard to improve it. The scientist also wants to make more flexible solar panels, which are as soft as clothing. They will be much lighter and provide more electricity.

The field of solar energy is developing fast. Scientists around the world have been improving solar panels. Some have been working on ways to join solar panels and wind power together. Some have been trying to use sunlight to produce liquid and gas fuels (液体和气体燃料).

To begin with, teenagers over 15 have the ability to make independent decisions. With the rapid development of IT, today's teenagers have a better understanding of the world. Compared with their parents, they know a lot about the world at an early age. So they can make independent decisions.

Making decisions helps teenagers feel confident. When teenagers are allowed to make decisions, they feel more confident in their ability to deal with problems. This can help them develop a stronger feeling of the control over their lives.

By making decisions, teenagers learn to be independent. If parents make decisions for their children all the time, they will never learn to be responsible for themselves. They will just depend on their parents for every choice in their lives, no matter how big or small it is.

When teenagers are allowed to make decisions, they may make mistakes. But it doesn't matter, because they can learn from their mistakes and will do better next time. During the process, teenagers can develop critical (批判性的) thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.

Allowing teenagers to make decisions can improve relationships between children and parents. By giving children respect, parents can show that they trust their children to make good choices. With trust and respect, children will have more communication with their parents.

All in all, teenagers over 15 should be given the chance to make decisions. They have the ability to do so and that is good for them and even their parents.
