  • 5、阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。

It is easier to agree than to disagree. The following tips can help people solve disputes.

    Don't make it personal.

If you get upset, it can help to remember that you' re mad at the person's idea, not the person.

Never criticize (批评) the others' ideas.

You' d better not say "That's a stupid idea", try "I don't really agree, and here is why." Never shout loudly and you will have a much better chance of getting your idea across.

Use "I" statements (陈述) to communicate how you feel and what you think.

Using "you" statements can sound argumentative (争论的). For example, telling your mum "You always remind me about my chores when I have a lot of homework" has a very different tone (语气) from "I'm under pressure because I have a lot of homework tonight. Can I do those chores tomorrow?".

Listen to the other point of view.

When the other person is talking, try to stop thinking about why you disagree or what you will say next. Instead, focus on what is being said. When it is your turn to talk, repeat any key points the other person made to show you have paid attention to what was said. Then express why you disagree.

    Stay calm.

This is the most important thing you can do to make a conversation go on well.

(1)、What can these tips do according to the text?

(2)、Which sentence in the text means that you are criticizing the other's idea?

(3)、Why shouldn't we use "you" statements?

(4)、What should we do when the other person is talking? (写出一个答案即可)

(5)、What is the most important thing to do to make a conversation go on well? Give another suggestion. (答案须与文中建议不同)

Have you ever imagined what bees can do with their tiny brains? Now scientists are looking into a bee's brain.

Clint Perry, a scientist, has spent much time studying how bees think. He says studying bees is not very different from studying other animals. "The main difficulty is to design (设计) an experiment for bees and get what we want," he says. "With humans, we can ask them a question and get an answer. But we can't use the same way to get an answer from bees. They are just trying to get sugar. Bees like sugar."

The fact that bees like sugar is helpful for scientists to design experiments. For example, in one experiment, Perry gave bees a task: to find delicious sugar on a landing place above a black bar (棒). Perry made the task easier or harder by moving the landing place farther from or closer to the black bar. He found that bees would avoid the task when it was difficult. And when the task was easy, bees would try it.

As for humans, we might choose not to take a test when we aren't ready for it. And we might choose to take the test when we are well prepared. In the same way, bees seemed to make decisions like humans.

Perry points out that we are not sure whether bees actually make a thoughtful choice from experiments. Now scientists still do not know how bees manage to do so much with their tiny brains. But learning more about how bees' brains work could help us learn more about how our own brains deal with information.

(1)、What does the underlined word "They" in Paragraph 2 refer to (指的是)?
    A、Humans. B、Ways. C、Answers. D、Bees.
(2)、What helps scientists to design experiments according to the text?

(5)、What could be the best title (标题) of the text?
A、A Study on How Bees Think B、A Survey on Why Bees Like Sugar C、A Report about How Brains Work D、A Way about How We Design Tasks

  • 10、阅读下面短文,在空白处填入一个适当的单词或用括号内单词的正确形式填空。

Do you know about the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain? It is quite interesting popular among kids. I liked it when I read it for the (one) time. Even if I'm adult now, it's still one of my favorites. After re-reading it (recent), I have learned an important lesson from Tom Sawyer.

In our daily lives, we often need to do some boring or tiring (task). What will be in your mind when your mother (ask) you to do some chores? Have you ever wanted to complain (抱怨)? I think most people have.

Tom Sawyer, however, (have) a different thought. One day, Aunt Polly told Tom (paint) the fence (篱笆). Tom (do) his job, when his friend Ben Rogers happened to pass by. Instead complaining, Tom told Ben that he felt"excited" about the task. Tom's words made Ben (interest) in the task. He even gave his apple Tom so that he could have a chance to paint the fence.

This story teaches (I) a valuable lesson: Complaining is useless. The next time you (give) a boring or tiring task, don't complain. Unlike what happens in the story of Tom Sawyer, it is unlikely (不太可能) that someone (come) and do the work for you. So, don't complain, and you'll feel better and perhaps even do a better job!

  • 15、阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。

Now many people go to work and school on buses, trains and bikes. However, some people dream of a day when they can fly in the sky.

In Singapore, a company (公司) showed a flying taxi in 2019. When some people travel in flying taxis, there will be fewer cars on the roads. It can be less crowded. In the 3D space of the sky, cars could move around each other without bridges or roads. The taxis can also take off and arrive on rooftops (屋顶). That will save parking space on the ground. And flying is fun. It's cool and interesting to fly in the sky every day on the way to work.

However, some people don't like flying cars. A fantastic scientist has a rocket company and a car company. It seems that he can make flying cars, but he says, "If the sky is full of flying cars, it will be noisier (更嘈杂). Something may fall on people's heads more easily. It's dangerous." He thinks it's much better to build lots of tunnels (隧道) underground.

Are flying cars or taxis a good idea? Shall we find other ways to solve the traffic problems?

(1)、How do people go to work and school now?

(2)、What did a company in Singapore show in 2019?

(3)、Where can flying taxis take off and arrive?

(4)、What does the scientist advise people to do to solve the traffic problems?

(5)、Do you like flying cars? Why or why not?

  • 16、If you have some free time, will you watch an enjoyable short video or read an interesting story? If you can only choose one from the two, what should you do?

You may choose the video. With the development of science and technology (科技的发展), almost everything in our life becomes smart. These years, watching videos online is becoming more and more popular. You can see many people watching short videos on the bus or the subway to relax after a day's work. However the number of people reading words is getting smaller. Some people are afraid that videos will one day take the place of words. But will it really happen?

Videos can in fact help us get new information more quickly. But can they help us learn about the early world very well? Many stories in history are in words: We can truly learn about what people did many years ago through reading these words. Short videos are a kind of "instant culture". They come into and leave our minds like flying cars. We often want to look for the second video after finishing watching one. But can we always remember what these videos are about? When we read a long story well, we often remember what it is about. Words also let us use our imagination (想象力), but videos don't.

In a word, videos can change (改变) the way people learn about the world and the way they have fun, but words will never go away. Words will be like stars shining (照耀) from the past to the future.

(1)、How does the writer start the article?
A、By telling stories. B、By giving numbers. C、By giving examples. D、By asking questions.
(2)、What can we know from Paragraph 2?
A、People's worry now. B、Popular short video apps. C、The reason for reading words. D、Things we learn from watching short videos.
(3)、What does the underlined word "instant" probably mean?
    A、Funny. B、Healthy. C、Fast. D、Careful.
(4)、What does the article mainly talk about?
A、Videos can't really take the place of words. B、Words are less useful and more boring than videos. C、Watching videos is a more popular way to have fun. D、Reading words is a better way to learn about ourselves.

Although I was very tired, I could do the job better after some time.

Now, I am back in the classroom and studying harder than ever before. And I am also more outgoing and happier. As long as I don't lose heart and work harder, I will do better in studying.
