Did you join any club at school? When my friend suggested that we join the new tai chi club, I thought he was 1 . I always believed tai chi was for old people. 2 , after the first class, I realized that I was wrong. It was amazing. Tai chi led to a big 3 both in my body and mind.

Charity（慈善）shops are special stores that sell donated items（捐赠物） to raise money for good causes. In countries like the UK, USA and Canada, they are often called"thrift stores". The word"thrifty"means being careful with money and not wasting things. These shops sell second-hand clothes, books, and toys at low prices. Some also sell products（产品）made by people in poor areas. All the money helps different charities that support medical research, animal welfare（福利）, and people in need. 

China has charity shops too. The first one opened in Shanghai in 2003. Now there are more than 200 charity shops in Shanghai's communities. The people working in these shops are volunteers. They don't get paid-they work to help others. Their job is to organize all the donated items. 

Charity shops do two important things. First, they raise money to help those in need. Second, they help the environment by reusing things instead of throwing them away. When you give or buy at a charity shop, you become part of this cycle of kindness that helps both people and our planet. 

We all enjoy being part of a group — there's no better work than teamwork, right? Actually, I disagree. Teamwork can be hard. In fact, it was so difficult that I left my office job and started working from home on my own. It's a much better fit for me, and it has made me think about why teamwork can make our jobs harder rather than easier. Personalities(个性)can make teamwork difficult. There's often someone on the team that puts their needs first. The team often goes along with this person, whose ideas might not be the best, just the loudest. Just one difficult personality        can make teamwork hard.    Combine several challenging personality types, and it's even harder.

Not having enough time together can also make teamwork challenging. For example, I was once on a team where we never had enough time to meet as a group. To successfully work as a team, you need time together — and lots of it.

A final reason teamwork is difficult is that there's often no training on how to work on a team. You can't just put people in a room and expect them to work well with each other. You need to build trust with your team members. Think of football players: They aren't just given a ball and told to play. They practice, and they train.

Team can be hard, but working alone has its challenges, too. When my computer doesn't work, I don't have an IT person to turn to. When I have a great idea, I don't have anyone to share it with to see if it really is a great idea. Don't get me wrong — I still like my team of one and enjoy making all of the important decisions myself. But now I realize what was wrong with the teamwork I did in the past and how good teamwork could be if done correctly. And that's useful information — because one day I might want to turn my ME TEAM into WE TEAM.

Нelрing the disablеd. Мanу рeoplе with disabilities neеd help. Yоu can volunteеr to rеаd books to thе blind or delivеr (递送) something for pеoрlе who саn't get arоund tоо well. 

 There are lots of volunteer jobs to do in hospitals and health care centres. As a volunteer, you can make beds, deliver flowers and gifts and help serve meals. Hospitals also need volunteers to look after children while their parents are seeing a doctor. 

Helping families in need. Some families don't have enough money to buy food and clothes for their kids.  To help these people, as a volunteer, you can give clothes, food or money to, or raise money for, a charity.  

 Sometimes people need more help when holidays come. Holidays are happy, but for the people who are alone or unlucky, they can be a lonely, hard time. As a volunteer, you can deliver holiday dinners to less lucky people, visit the lonely old people and serve food to the homeless. 

Lots of people find that they really enjoy volunteering. If everyone helps out a bit, we'll have a better world to live in!

The Power of Teenage Voluntary Work

In recent years, more and more teenagers have joined the ranks of volunteers, bringing warmth and hope to people in need. Voluntary work not only helps those who are struggling but also shapes teenagers' personalities and enriches their life experiences.

Last year, our school set up a volunteer team called "Youth Care". Over 100 students joined it, and we carried out various activities. Every month, we visited the local children's home. Some of us helped the children with their homework, explaining math problems and teaching them English words. Others organized fun games like treasure hunts and painting competitions to cheer them up. Many children in the home are left-behind or have lost their parents, so they are often lonely. Our company made them feel loved and cared for. We also went to the community to help elderly people. We cleaned their rooms, washed clothes for them and taught them to use smartphones to video call their children. Seeing the elderly's happy smiles, we felt a strong sense of achievement.

During these activities, we encountered some challenges. For example, some shy children refused to communicate at first, and we had to be patient to gain their trust. Some elderly people were not familiar with digital devices, so we had to explain the operations repeatedly. But these difficulties made us more responsible and patient. We learned that helping others is not just about giving material things, but more about sharing our time and care.

Teenage voluntary work is a bridge connecting love and need. It teaches us to cherish what we have, understand the hardships of others and develop a sense of social responsibility. As young people, we should actively participate in voluntary work, using our small efforts to make the world a better place.

The Year of the Horse carries a very special meaning in Chinese culture.  the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, the horse stands for energy, courage, speed and progress. For thousands of years, horses have played important role in history, helping people travel, work and win battles. That is why people regard the horse as a symbol of strength, hope and success.

Many idioms about horses express good wishes and positive spirits, such as "immediate success", "achieve great things" and "an old horse knows the way". These idioms show that people admire the horse's spirit and hope to be brave, (confidence) and hard‑working. People born in the Year of the Horse ( believe) to be energetic, independent and ready to take on challenges.

Spring Festival is (important) traditional festival in China. Before the festival, families clean  (they) houses to sweep away bad luck and decorate with red couplets, paper cuttings and lanterns. On New Year's Eve, families have a big reunion dinner, enjoying dumplings, fish and other lucky food. After dinner, people watch the Spring Festival Gala, set off fireworks and stay up late (welcome) the new year.
