Parents are the closest people to you in the world. They love you just because you are you. And they would do anything for you.

Do you and your parents also have problems?

But you and your parents will be much happier if you can be friends. Here are some ways to have a good talk with them: 

Some people think that only school children disagree with their parents; however, this is not true. Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. Here is some advice for you to bridge the generation gap (代沟). 

Don't argue with your parents. Don't go to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won't consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can't express yourself well if you are angry. Firstly, keep calm. Then, make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Next, think about what you want to say to them. If you don't want to talk with them face to face, try writing a letter. 

Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try to accept each other. Michael's mother didn't agree with him about buying a toy. They argued about it. But she finally agreed with him. Michael bought the toy, but only played with it on certain days. 

Of course, your parents might disagree with you on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect to them. It will help keep your relationship strong. 

A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is a pleasure to have a try!

Many people, like Andy, worry too much about what others think of them. At school, Andy never answers questions because he is afraid of making mistakes. He even works hard to make people think he's good enough. 

It's normal to care about what others think, but we shouldn't let it control our lives. The key is to know we live for ourselves, not for others. There are several ways to go about doing this. 

First, we should remember that we are often our own biggest judges(裁判). If we have a low opinion of ourselves, then we think that others feel the same way about us. To get over this, we should learn to "love ourselves". We can do what we like to do and help others at the same time. For example, if you are book lovers, try to volunteer to read for kids. 

Second, we can't control how others think of us. Instead of trying to please everyone, we should learn about what makes us different. Why not take up a hobby like playing basketball? In this way, we can lower our stress and have a good time in our free time. However, this doesn't mean we should ignore(忽视) how we treat others. Listen to others first, even if we disagree. Being kind and respectful is always important. 

At the same time, it's okay to express our own opinions. Remember, winning or losing is not the point. It's impossible to make everyone think like us. Everyone has different opinions and we're not trying to start a fight. So, express our own opinions politely. After all, communication is the best way to solve problems. 

So, be ourselves, respect others and express our thoughts kindly. Don't let fear of judgment hold us back!

People of your age, like your classmates and friends, are called your peers. When they try to influence how you act or get you to do something, they bring you peer pressure. 

Peers can have a good influence on each other. They learn from each other and make progress together. Sometimes, however, peers influence each other in bad ways. For example, a few classmates might get you to cut class, or a friend might want you to try smoking. 

Some children give in to peer pressure because they want to be liked or they worry that other children might make fun of them if they don't follow the group. Others go along with the group because they want to try something new that their peers are doing. So sometimes, it's hard to be the only one to say "no" to peer pressure. But you can do it. 

Paying attention to your own feelings about what is right can help you make the right choice. You can simply stay away from peers who ask you to do something wrong. When you find it difficult to deal with peer pressure, you can talk to someone you trust. Don't feel sorry if you've made a mistake. Speaking it out can help you feel much better. 

Remember, true friends will respect your choices. If they pressure you into doing bad things, they aren't good friends. Stay strong, trust yourself, and choose peers who encourage you to be better. Saying "no" now can save you from bigger troubles later. 

It's not easy growing up. Growing up can be a real "pain" for some of us. We are always doing things that someone else makes us do and aren't allowed to do all the things we like. Sometimes we feel sad, sometimes we are fearful, and sometimes we just don't understand why we can't stay young forever. But we should take a look back on all the painful things in life with a positive attitude and we should learn from them. We should realize that all of our growing pains actually turn into growing gains!

Throughout our lives we are going to face many challenges and pains, but we should never let these difficulties keep us from following our dreams. We must overcome them one small step at a time. 

As a young girl, my parents asked me to do so many things that I didn't like. They made me learn to play the violin and then the piano. At that time I hated music and I also hated them. But looking back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons. Music has enriched my life in so many ways. I now comprehend that my parents and teachers wanted me to have a better life. 

We are all going to experience growing pains, but they are just part of our life. Think about how we would feel if we had no challenges and lived a life like that. Life would be really boring and meaningless. The future is ours! A little hard work and sweat never hurt anyone! If we realize that these pains are just small bumps on our road to success, we will realize that our growing pains are actually growing gains!

Sally is a teenager who wants to be a great dancer. But her parents want her to be a doctor. She wants to follow her parents' wishes, but she also wants to follow her heart. 

Being a teenager is hard. You feel old enough to make your own decisions, but your parents always think that they know what's best for you. 

So, how can Sally solve her problem?

First, teenagers can try to look at things from their parents' side. Parents often have long-term plans for their kids. When our parents control what we do, they're only trying to guide us. Our parents go through lots of things. So, we can reasonably trust them. After all, they control us because they love us. 

But let's also look at things through a teenager's eyes. Many teenagers feel like they can take on more responsibilities (责任). We shouldn't just accept our parents' choices or fight with them. We should try sharing our feelings with our parents. Sharing feelings with our parents can help make good changes, while not sharing with them can cause misunderstandings (误解). 

So, if you feel that your parents' decision is not fair, you should sit down with your parents and talk about it. By sharing your feelings and coming up with a good reason, you may change their minds. Their trust in you will also grow. When you grow up, you can make your own decisions. 

Growing up is a journey full of pains and gains. Everyone will face different challenges in their growth. For example, disagreements with parents, failure in exams, or peer pressure. These experiences may make us feel sad or stressed, but they also help us grow. 

A boy named Tom once had a big argument with his mother. He promised to be home before 9 pm, but he came back at 10:30 pm. His mother was very angry. Later, Tom explained that he helped an old woman who was lost find her way home. His mother felt sorry for being cross with him and was proud of his kindness. From this experience, Tom learned to communicate with his mother in time, and his mother learned to listen to Tom's story patiently. 

Another example is Lily. She dreamed of being a dancer, but she failed the dance audition (选拔) because of her poor health. She was very disappointed. Her best friend encouraged her to try painting. At first, Lily just painted to take her mind off the failure. But soon she fell in love with painting and won many prizes. Lily realized that failure is not the end; it's a chance to try something new. 

In fact, growing up is not about avoiding difficulties. It's about facing them bravely, learning from them, and becoming a better person. Every pain in growth will become a precious gain in the future.
