A booking to my hotel came in a few weeks ago, with a note saying that a girl would be travelling with her deaf father, and she wanted to make his trip as comfortable as possible.

Sadly, I wasn't working the day they checked out（退房）, but they left a gift for me, a small box with some chocolates. Inside was a note saying:" Thank you very much for what you did. My father has been in amazing spirits from the time you checked us in and suggested we get you a gift before we left. You have no idea how much this meant to my father and me, and we can't thank you enough. You've made his trip very special with one simple sign. "

I cried for as long as five minutes when I came into work the next day and found this gift.

People often talk about healthy children.  If you are healthy, your body works well, and you can do all the things you want. Parents only ask you to have healthy meals. 

Eat different kinds of food, especially fruit and vegetables. You may have your favourite food, but you'd better eat different kinds of food. If you do so, you can meet more of your body needs. Taste new foods and old ones you haven't tried for a while. Some food, such as fruit and vegetables, is better. 

 When you are really thirsty, water is the No. 1 choice. You also need calcium(钙) to grow strong bones, and milk is the best choice. 

What else can we do to become healthy children? (不超过10词） 

Children sometimes get ill and have to go to hospital. Some of  (they)  have to stay there for a few days. It's (real) not good for them to think about their illness (疾病) all day long. They need some other things to think about, so people ask  (friend) animals to help. In some places, people often take animals  (visit) children in hospital. They may bring a little dog or a cute monkey the children. Most children are excited to see them. , some children can't get close to the animals, because the animals may make their illness get even worse (更糟糕).  can we do to help these children? The hospitals get  good idea. They work with zoos to make some films about how (love) animals. A man called Denny gives $7. 4 million to make a TV network (电视网) to show them. It's still used in many hospital in the US today. Children in hospital can watch them and learn about  (animal) living habits. 

To be a better( / 'pɜ:sn / ), we should always f the rules and be (有礼貌）to everyone. Treating others with kindness and r makes the world a happier place. We can't do anything  (危险), either. When we need help, it's smart to ask for (建议) from others. Remember to have a good  (精神，情绪) and try our best to do everything well.

How much exercise do children need to keep in good health? Every parent wants to know the answer. In the US, many people think that children should get more than an hour of exercise each day. It is the same in the UK. 

A study shows that children should exercise for their muscles and bones more than three times a week. Children can do activities like climbing and playing on monkey bars–this kind of exercise is good for their muscles. Jumping and running are good for their bones. Children should also do aerobic (有氧的) exercise every day. They can walk fast or go running. However, many children don't like doing exercise of playing sports outside. Today, many children like playing computer games or watching TV at home every day. What can parents do to help the children do sports outside?

Dr. Stephanie Walsh says she often sees parents taking long walks with their children as a kind of exercise, but that might not be the best way. 

"Although walking is a great activity, it's really boring for children. So, if you're going to ask your children to go for a walk, think of some fun things to do along the way, " she says.

①For animals, bad weather can be a big problem. Some animals like mice can go underground, but how do birds live on in bad weather?

②A bird's feathers help to keep the bird warm. But if those feathers are full of rainwater, the bird's body temperature (温度) could go down too quickly, and could die (死亡). 

③Many birds can keep water away from their feathers by using something special in their tails. This makes them fly in the rain for short trips. Some animals may eat them if they can't fly a long way, so most birds wait in trees of find a place to stay until the rain stops. 

④Storms (暴风雨) are more terrible. Luckily, some birds can tell when a storm is coming as they feel changes in air pressure (气压). So some may go away earlier to stay away from the storm, while others look for places to keep safe. 

⑤Winter is also dangerous for birds because it snows a lot. Some birds get ready for winter by eating a lot of food to keep themselves warm while some birds fly to the south for the winter. 

⑥As you can see, birds have many ways against bad weather. Although danger is always around them, they will probably be just fine. 

It is hard to be a farmer. Cold weather can kill your plants. Bugs（虫子) can eat your plants. Weeds (杂草) can hurt your plants. Your plants may need more rain than they get. Fruit and vegetables can go bad before you sell them. Some people say farmers can solve all these problems with GM food (转基因食物). 

What is GM food? All living things have DNA. DNA tells how living things grow. These days, people can change DNA that tells food how to grow. When people change DNA of the food, it is called GM food. 

Some GM food can grow in cold weather. GM food can stop bugs from eating it. GM fruit and vegetables can stay longer. One day, GM food may be able to grow in dry land in Africa. It will feed people who do not have much food. 

But there is a lot we do not know about GM food. Will GM companies help poor people grow food? Or do GM companies just want to get rich? Does GM food kill bugs we need, like butterflies? Does GM food make birds sick? Does GM food make people sick? We do not know. There aren't enough tests on GM food. 

①Do you like travelling? More and more students like riding bikes to travel on the road. But it may be dangerous on your trip. For your own safety, do the following things. 

②Wear a bike helmet (头盔) and it can protect your head. Look for a helmet that fits you well. Even the most expensive helmet won't protect you if it doesn't fit. 

 ③Wear the right clothes. They can make you feel better. And they can also protect you. Bright-coloured clothes help people see you clearly—even in the daytime. Don't wear dark-coloured clothes like black or brown while riding a bike. 

④Keep the rules of the road while riding a bike. Always ride on the right side of the street in the same direction (方向). Never change your direction without first looking behind you. And don't ride too closely to the cars—the cars may stop and the door may open suddenly! Finally, don't wear earphones while riding a bike. You need to hear what's going on around you. 

⑤If you follow the advice above, you'll be safe when riding on the road. 

Rules are very important in our life. Now some middle schools are going to use a new way to decide (决定) the top student list. The best students shouldn't only get good1 They should not dye (染发) their hair or drink. Here are some of the new rules. 

Tell the truth. Do you like to copy (抄袭) others' work in an exam? Don't do it. That's not a thing a student should do. If you play computer games for two hours in your room, don't 2 your parents you are doing homework. 

Be3 to others. Do you fight with your teammates when you have some problems with each other? Be good to the people you work with. Try to4 others, not only yourself.
