When you find a way to enjoy what you're studying, you'll be more motivated (激发) to do well in school — and might even have fun doing it!

If you can find the things you like learning about, this can help you become more interested in school in general. Think about which classes you pay the most attention to. This can help you know which subjects you are naturally interested in.

Some friendly competition can be fun. However, too much competition makes you worried. Focus on doing well for yourself and achieving your goals. Try to be competitive only when it can help you make progress. You don't have to be the best at everything. Set realistic goals, and don't worry too much about what others are doing.

For centuries, lacquer fans(漆扇) have been loved for their beauty and cultural value.

Lacquer fans are special fans from China, and their history dates back to the Han Dynasty. Later, lacquer fans became one of the top collections in the art world in the Tang Dynasty. Lacquer is a natural varnish(清漆) taken from the lacquer tree. It was first used to coat wooden objects to protect them from water and insects. Interestingly, ancient workers discovered its artistic characteristics by accident when colorful patterns naturally formed on the water. Over time, workers began to use lacquer to make and decorate fans.

Lacquer fans are made of bamboo or wooden frames. Traditionally, they are painted with different themes and patterns, such as landscapes, flowers and birds, and figures, to make them more beautiful.

Although the methods of making fans continue to develop, skilled workers still use traditional techniques to create lacquer fans, keeping this ancient art alive.

Nowadays, lacquer fan painting is one of the most popular activities among young people, which is considered a new form of expression of lacquer art. Instead of using traditional tools such as brushes, lacquer fan painting is done with only the lacquer and water. The process is quite simple yet filled with artistic possibilities. First, people freely choose a fan and the colors they want to use. Then they carefully drop the colored lacquer into the water. With gentle stirring (搅拌) using a thin tool, the colors blend and dance like ink in a Chinese watercolor painting, creating special shapes. Next, put the bamboo fan in the water for a few seconds and that's it.

Making each fan is like opening a blind box,    ▲     ,So every fan is unique (独一无二). Through this art, ancient techniques continue to amaze modern eyes, proving that true beauty lies in life's unexpected accidents.

①Recently, the Ailao Mountains have become quite a hit. The place is now on everyone's lips. Many people are curious about its beauty and mystery and want to see it themselves. However, local officials warn the public to think twice about visiting and not to explore the undeveloped areas.

②The Ailao Mountains don't just cover one mountain. Instead, there is a long series of mountains covering hundreds of kilometers. The locals call it Forest of Death, and it can be hard to find your way while you are in the mountains. So, sometimes, it feels like you are in a giant maze (迷宫)! There are many plants and animals in this wild, including bears and snakes, which can make it even scarier.

③Even though some parts of the Ailao Mountains are safe for visitors, many areas are still off-limits. Heavy rain and thick fog can make the mountains very dangerous. Once you get lost among the trees, the chances are that you may feel dizzy (头晕) and tired after a long walk and end up in big trouble. Even local villagers play it safe and don't choose deep parts of the mountains to visit.

④In 2021, four people went to explore the Ailao Mountains. They were tired and faced sudden storms, which made it hard to keep warm. Sadly, they lost their lives at last. The incident (事件) reminds us that nature is something of beauty and danger all at once.

At Tradewinds Middle School in the US, you can see a very special school garden. Green vegetables, strawberries and other plants grow out of plastic bottles hanging along a fence.

Program and create a nice environment, the school asks the sixth, seventh and eighth graders to grow different kinds of plants in their classrooms. Then they will move the plants to the campus. At the same time, students need to collect and analyze data (分析数据) of the plants. Surprisingly, they are very happy to do the job.

Lauren Butcher, the Green Schools Recognition Program organizer, says students learn more than just the skills of gardening. They learn a bigger-picture lesson, too. They discover that they can have an effect on the world around them. "Students see that their learning matters and that their action counts," Butcher adds. "And it's just not that they will help one day, but they are having an influence right now."

At Tradewinds, students who labour in the school garden enjoy eating mulberries(桑葚) right off the bushes, giggling (咯咯笑) about the juice that turns their hands and clothes pink. "When you go to the store, you say, 'Oh, buy this. "But you don't really understand where it comes from,"" says seventh grader Sabrina Swayne, 13. "But when you grow it yourself, you get satisfaction from what you have done. You're eating, saying, <Wow! We did so much for it, so we can eat this!"

What's more, while undertaking the careful process of growing plants, students can learn about how human development impacts ecosystems (生态系统). It makes them realize the importance of protecting the earth and inspires (激励) them to do something useful for the world.

The Yellow Crane Tower（黄鹤楼） is in Wuhan, Hubei Province, on the bank of the Yangtze River. It's said that the tower was first built in 223 AD（公元） during the Three Kingdoms Period(三国时期). It was destroyed(毁坏) several times. The present building was built in 1981. It is 51.4 metres high and 3,219 square metres in size. Now the Yellow Crane Tower is one of the symbols of Wuhan. A number of people visit it every year.
