Even the series ender (终结篇), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is a far-away memory from 2011. Much has changed since then. The child stars have all grown up, and some of the beloved older cast members have sadly left us.

Lulu Delacre was born in Puerto Rico (波多黎各), the middle child in a family of three daughters. Lulu's earliest memories of painting go back to her grandmother's house when she was five. Lulu's grandma babysat her older sister and her in an old pink house while Lulu's parents taught at the university. She would give Lulu white pieces of paper to draw on and she never threw away any of Lulu's pictures. She kept them all in a corner of her closet (壁橱).

Lulu had her first real art lesson when she was ten in Argentina (阿根廷). There, one of her mother's closest friends, who was a fine artist and who gave lessons to adults, encouraged Lulu to join her class. She taught Lulu to draw from real life and with Lulu discovered the joy of creating.

By the time Lulu entered the university, she realized she wanted to become an illustrator (插画家) of children's books. She dreamed of creating books about the place where she grew up, books that celebrated the songs and dances of her people, the colorful traditions on her island, and the stories that were told to her.

Lulu creates her books out of love, and she's seen them succeed. She says if sharing some of the stories builds bridges between children, she wants to keep on doing it. For her, that is the true success.
