As we all know, the earth is humans' home.  From elephants to fish, birds to snakes, animals are an important part of the earth. 

However, some animals are in danger.  Some people are taking away the land and forests from animals. 

 First, animals play an important role in keeping the balance of ecosystems (生态系统的平衡). Because of animals, our living environment becomes more colourful.  Protecting animals makes people learn animals' special behaviour(行为). By protecting these animals, we can also protect our culture. 

In short, protecting animals is not just about protecting the natural world. It is also about protecting our health and well-being.  Give them peaceful and loving home. 

For many years, people have wanted to find out whether we are the only living things in the universe(宇宙). Some scientists believe that there must be life on other planets because the universe is large. However, finding life on other planets is challenging because planets need a very special environment for life to exist. In the end, while direct evidence(直接证据) of life on other planets has not been found, there are findings that show the possibility of the environment that could support(维持) life. 

Life needs very special and important conditions(条件), such as water, the right temperature and oxygen. The earth has the perfect conditions for life, and it is very impossible that another planet has the same environment as our earth. 

What's more, scientists believe that we don't have enough facts to prove(证实) if there is life on other planets. They say, "It doesn't mean that life exists there just because conditions on other planets are similar to those on earth. "

For me, although the universe is very big, a planet with life needs very special conditions. The earth has the right conditions for life. I don't think that any other planets could have the same conditions as the earth. So I do not believe that there is life on other planets. 

Leon is a new high school student. Recently(最近), he had a problem with his best friend, Vie. Vie is really kind and funny, and Leon always depends on Vie when he needs help. In the new term, Leon wanted to make friends with his classmates, but Vie thought that would make them less close to each other. So when Leo n tried making friends with someone else, Vie felt sad. 

Leon still wanted to be best friends with Vie, but he wanted to have other friends too. So he asked his father for help. His father first advised him to tell Vie his true feelings and let Vie know that they would always be best friends. And that would never change. He then realized that Vie might worry he would make a new best friend and forget about him. What's more, his father suggested(建议) introducing Vie to others when he would try making friends with others. Maybe Vie would join them, and his friends would become Vie's friends too. His father also stressed that if Vie declined, he shouldn't push Vie. Some kids preferred to have just one or two really good friends, and there was nothing wrong with that. 

By following his father's advice and having a good talk with Vie, they knew how important they were to each other.

Gillian is the leader of the Insect Club. Her best friend, Maude, is a 1 of her club. They meet every day to look for and talk about insects. They even want to set different 2 for different insects. For example, they look for ladybugs(七星瓢虫) on Monday and dung beetles(屎壳郎) on Tuesday.

Wang Ying—I have a big dream. I want 1 a scientist. But I am not good at maths. Last term, I2  a C in a maths test, which made me feel sad. But I decide to change this situation. My resolution is to study maths harder. How 3  that? Well, I plan to do more maths exercises every day. I also decide to ask my teachers and classmates for help whenever I have questions.
