There are some skills for students to listen to the teacher in class, which means you're going to have to practice it. Just as you would have to practice playing basketball to be a better player, you also have to practice listening. How to listen in school?  

One of the things you need to do is to make sure that your mind doesn't wander (漫游). It's easy to start thinking about other things, especially when you're not interested in the subject.  

Next, listen to the main ideas. If you want to catch every little piece of information, you'll feel tired and bored.

First, reading is not the same as studying. Just reading your notes or books again and again doesn't help you remember. Studying means doing something active with what you read. For example, you can make a study guide with questions and answers. Or pretend you're a teacher and explain the ideas out loud in your own words. This helps you understand and remember better. 

Second, don't try to study everything at a time. It's better to spread out your study time. Spend a little time each day on each subject instead of studying for hours the night before a test. For example, do a few Maths exercises every day or read your history notes for 15 minutes. This keeps your brain fresh and helps you learn more. 

Third, focus when you study. Turn off your phone and stay away from games or social media. Short, regular study sessions—like 30 or 45 minutes—are better than long hours where you get tired or distracted. 

Finally, make a plan. Organize your notes by topic and decide what to study each day. This keeps you on track and makes studying less stressful.

Here are some ideas for learning English well. 

You are like a new baby.

Babies learn their languages slowly. First they learn to listen. Then they learn to talk. Finally, they can read and talk. 

Listen to English every day.

Listen to English on the radio, watch English TV programs, go to see English movies or use online lessons. 

Practise the conversations.

Make up conversations and practise the conversations. You'd better use textbooks for beginners. 

Read English stories.

Start with children's storybooks. Try to read stories for ESL readers. Try englishclub.com for young learners. 

Write down new words.

Start with a new word notebook. Write words in alphabetical order (A. . . B. . . C. . . ). Make some sentences. Try to use an English-English dictionary.  

Keep an English diary.

Start with one sentence like "How do you feel?" or "What did you do today?" Write another sentence tomorrow.

A DIY Bookmark for My Favourite Book

Last week I took part in our school's Reading &Bookmark-making activity. 

Today, more and more people are crazy about DIY because it brings them lots of fun and skills. It can help people have a different lifestyle. We can get a sense of satisfaction (满足) from DIY. For example, when we make drinks or foods by ourselves, we can become happy and healthy. 

Millions of people around the world are overweight now. To keep fit, people begin to turn to healthy ways to lose weight, such as taking exercise and having a healthy diet. Here is a kind of drink to help you. It is easy to make and tastes good. 

The drink includes three things—powdered cinnamon (肉桂粉), honey and water. First, take a pan and add a cup of water to it. Second, put the pan on the fire and boil (煮) the water for 2—3 minutes. Third, add a spoon of powdered cinnamon to the water and mix them together. Finally, let the mixture cool. After the mixture is cool, add some spoons of honey to it. 

The drink is delicious and good for our health. It's a good idea to have half a cup of it daily before you go to bed and have the rest the next morning before eating breakfast. 

Yuhang in Hangzhou is f for making oil paper umbrellas for over 230 years. But in the 1970s, it was out of production as steel-ribbed (钢骨的) umbrellas became more popular. In 2015, Liu Weixue g up a well-paid job to learn the traditional art of making Yuhang oil paper umbrellas from his grandfather. "I fell in love with the art at a very young age," Liu said. There are more than 70 steps, including m bamboo ribs (竹伞骨) and pasting (糊) paper. After mastering the skills, Liu improved the umbrellas to win the hearts of young people. As the traditional paper breaks e, he uses thicker paper. In a test, his umbrellas were opened and closed 1,000 times without breaking. He uses a lighter kind of bamboo to make the ribs, so the umbrellas weigh less. As young people like hand-painted pictures, he invites painters to draw patterns (图案) on the umbrella cover. To ensure (保证) quality, he produces o 1,000 umbrellas each year. 

The sun  brightly outside at the moment. Mike and his cousin are sitting under the tree. He is showing a special present that he made for his mum. It's really a wonderful DIY job! Mike cut out a picture of a lovely rabbit and  it on the cover the other day. He prepared it to celebrate his mum's birthday the day after tomorrow. In fact, his cousin  it a few days ago. He hopes that his cousin will  the secret for him. And he will have a picnic with his mum if it  on that day.
