The smart wristband (智能手环) is a smart device (设备) that we can wear on our wrists. It is especially popular with teenagers. More and more people use a smart wristband in their daily lives. There are lots of famous brands (品牌) we can buy online or in stores. 

Why are smart wristbands so popular?

Firstly, for one thing, it is like a watch and it can tell you the time anytime. For another, it is more than a watch. The wristband can also be connected to the mobile phone. You can use it to answer the phone call without taking out your mobile phone in your pocket. It is very convenient. 

Secondly, the smart wristband looks fashionable. Most teenagers feel cool to have a smart wristband on their wrists. That's why we often see teenagers wearing wristbands. 

Thirdly, most people have realized the importance of health. Some people do exercise every day to keep fit. Smart wristbands can help them to know how far they have run or how many steps they have taken. With a smart wristband, you can know about your exercise at any time. 

However, some parents don't want their children to have smart wristbands because they think wearing smart wristbands for a long time may cause cancer (癌症). They think the teenagers who wear smart wristbands are under radiation (辐射) all the time. They are harmful. 

What's Anti-Bullying Day (反霸凌日)?

Anti-Bullying Day is a special day when people talk about bullying and what we can do to stop it. A lot of children take part in activities at school and online, to learn about what bullying means and what we can do if we see it happening. 

When is Anti-Bullying Day?

The date of Anti-Bullying Day is different in different countries. In many places, it's on 4 May (United Nations Anti-Bullying Day). In the UK, Anti-Bullying Week takes place every November. Every day of the year, it's important to stand up against bullying. 

What exactly is bullying?

Often bullying happens when one person has more power than the other person—perhaps they're bigger or older, or they have more friends. When someone uses their power to hurt another person on purpose, especially more than once, that's bullying. 

Bullying can be with words (saying mean things) or it can be physical (hitting, pushing or taking someone's things). Leaving someone out of a group or ignoring (忽视) them again and again is also bullying. 

How can we stand up against bullying?

If someone is bullying you, you could ignore them, tell them to stop or walk away. Pretend that you don't care and try to look confident, even if you don't feel it. Tell a friend or a classmate what's happening and ask them to help you; or talk to your parents, a teacher or another adult you trust. 

If you see someone else being bullied, never join in with the bullying or laugh at it. That will make it worse. Instead, be an "upstander"—help and support the person who is being bullied. Tell a trusted adult about the bullying. If we all stand up against bullying, we can make it stop. 

Anger (愤怒) is a strong feeling that can make you do and say things you don't really mean. What can be done to 1 anger? Here are some ways.

Firstly, you need to understand that things don't always go as you want. You have to 2 that sometimes things do go wrong. Realizing that no one is 3 helps avoid getting angry. Also, you need to agree that not everyone has the same 4 as you, and they won't behave as you ask yourself to in a given situation.

American basketball coach Rudy Tomjanovich's famous saying has turned out to be true once again. 

Ma Long, the team leader of the Chinese men's table tennis team, won his second Olympic gold medal（金牌）in men's singles（单打比赛）in the Tokyo Olympics after beating his teammate Fan Zhendong an achievement that no male（男性的）player has ever made before. After the win, Ma put two arms overhead and made a "heart" toward the crowds. He later explained as a move for his family and the team. Also, this showed the heart of a champion.

Xia Yuyu is a 25-year-old student fom Tsinghua University. She has become a big winner at the FISU World University Games  Chengdu. She is the most tired and the  athlete at the Games. She took part in four competitions in six days. She won a gold medal in the  10,000 meters, a silver medal in the women's 5,000 meters and a bronze (铜) medal in the women's team half marathon (马拉松). Many people were  by her wonderful performance. 

Before the Games, she ran for 30 kilometers during training each day.  she knew how hard it was to win the gold medal at the Games, she  her mind not to give up. 

"I  want to thank my university, which helped me solve many problems during preparations for the Games in Chengdu. It's not been easy for my  who has had to attend to all the details of my training and daily life," Xia said. 

Success seems to find Maya Moore everywhere she goes. But life hasn't been a bed of roses for Maya and her biggest supporter, her mother.

A daughter complained to her father about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and want to give up. She was tired of fighting. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one came. 

Her father，a cook，took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots（罐子）with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the water boiled（沸腾）. In one he placed carrots，in the second he placed eggs，and in the last he placed coffee beans. He led them boil，without saying a word. 

The daughter impatiently waited，wondering what he was doing. In about twenty minutes he turned off the fire. He took the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then he poured the coffee in a glass. Turning to her he asked， "Darling，what do you see？"

He explained that each of them had faced the same adversity-boiling water，but each got a different result. The carrot was strong and hard. But after being boiled in the water，it became softened and weak. The eggshell（蛋壳）broke easily，but after going through the boiling water，its inside became hardened. The coffee beans. however，after they were in the boiling water，had changed the water.
