Last Friday, our teacher Miss Wang took us to climb the mountain near our school. The weather was fine and the sky was blue and clear.

Take part in beach cleaning activities often. Collect rubbish recycle(回收) it.

We need water for everything — drinking, cooking, washing and even playing. But sometimes, we waste too much water. 

Turn off the tap. When brushing our teeth, remember to turn off the tap.  This can save a lot of water.

Take short showers. It can help us save water and enjoy showers as well.

Water plants wisely. During these hours, water can stay in the soil longer(更长).

Collect rainwater.  For example, we can use it to water our plants or wash our cars.

Shandong has only 1% of China's water resources(资源). But it has 5% of China's farming land and plants 8% of the country's food. How does Shandong use and save water?

First, some big factories in Shandong don't use fresh water for production(生产). They use sea water as much as possible. There is a big factory in Weihai City.95% of the production water in it is sea water.

Second, as for farming, some cities start to use new technologies(科技) and new equipment(设备)for watering. Shouguang City in Shandong produces(生产) over 4.5 million tons of vegetables every year. Many vegetable farms use new ways to water their vegetables. It helps save more than 40% of water every year.

Shandong is trying its best to save water in factory producing and farming. It thinks it can do more and better in water saving.

Tom is playing football in the park. He is very thirsty so he runs to the tap to drink some water. But he leaves the tap running and goes back to play.

His sister Lily sees it. She isn't happy. She turns off the tap and goes to find Tom.

"Tom, you waste so much water! Do you know that many people in the world don't have enough water to drink?" Lily says seriously.

Tom says, "I'm sorry, Lily. I didn't think about that."

Then Lily tells Tom a story. In a small village, people have to walk a long way to get water every day. And the water is not very clean. Tom feels sorry for these people and understands that he should cherish(珍惜) water and save water.

From that day on, Tom becomes very careful when using water. He always turns off the tap after using it. He tells his friends to save water, too.
