Do you want to take your pets on a long trip? China has started testing a pet-friendly service on some high-speed trains between Beijing and Shanghai since April 8, 2025. The service is available(可用的) on 38 trains that stop at twenty-five main stations, including Beijing South, Jinan West, Nanjing South, Shanghai Hongqiao, and Hangzhou East.
To use this service, owners must book at least two days before traveling through the 12306 app. Pets must be healthy cats or dogs under 15 kg in weight and no taller than 40 cm at the shoulder. Owners have to arrive at the train station 2-4 hours earlier and show their ID and a pet health certificate(证书). After check- in, pets are placed in special boxes with clean air, water, and cameras. Train workers will check the pets every two hours, but owners can't visit or feed them during the ride.
For short trips(under1, 000km), the cost is 390 yuan per pet(normally 558 yuan). For longer trips(1, 000 km-1, 500 km), the cost is 460 yuan per pet (normally 648 yuan). Each booking includes 2, 000 yuan insurance(保险费).
The service was warmly received. A lady with two cats said, " Keeping cats and dogs together might not be a good idea, because dogs may make cats nervous. "
The service still needs to be improved. In the future, we may see more services like this to help meet the increasing need in the market.

A traveler from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, recently went to nearby Qingtian County. She mentioned that with short vacations not leaving much time for far- off trips, she often chooses nearby counties to relax. The short trips let her avoid the trouble of long- distance travel and still have a great time exploring new places. She prefers short, easy- to- plan and affordable trips. "For someone who grew up in a big city like me, visiting a small county is an unusual experience, " she added.
Driven by the Internet, some small towns are quickly becoming famous. These towns now welcome many visitors, and their streets are filled with laughter and storytelling, bringing great development opportunities(机会) to the local area.
Interestingly, county tourism is also very popular among students. During these trips, students can see different landscapes, talk to local people, and learn things that can't be found in textbooks. When you make a mistake or say something wrong, it's easy to be hard on yourself. This can cause you to feel stressed. Feelings of anger, disappointment and sadness soon follow. That's why such stress needs to be dealt with.
Max, a 14-year-old boy, used to be very competitive and always felt stressed. Now he is learning to give himself care and kindness. When he doesn't win or get the top marks, he talks to himself, "It's OK not to be perfect. "
What Max does is called self-compassion(自我和解). With self-compassion, at first, you will treat yourself kindly like a friend. It allows you to forgive(原谅) yourself when you mess up or fail. After feelings of guilt(愧疚) go away, you feel more relaxed and you can think more clearly. This way of self-compassion makes you move forward. Many studies have shown it is of great help.
However, some people disagree. They argue that self-compassion leads people to be less active. But Breines and Chen's study had a different result. They gave students a difficult word test. The students were given the chance to study for a second test. They found those who were compassionate toward their failure spent more time preparing. So when you feel stressed, you can be kind to yourself, and don't push yourself too hard.
Experts suggest that you should write a letter to yourself, describing the situation that causes your pain and accepting how you feel. When you feel stressed and sad, you can do something you like, such as listening to music or drawing. In this way, you can make yourself feel at peace.
In short, self-compassion is not a sign of weakness but a powerful tool to help us face mistakes with kindness, clear our minds, and keep moving forward actively.
(1)、What feelings might stress bring to us?(2)、Why does Max talk to himself"It's OK not to be perfect. " when he loses or fails to get top marks?(3)、What will you do at first with self-compassion?(4)、What can we infer from the study of Breines and Chen?(5)、If possible, which way of self-compassion will you choose? Why? -

In 2025, the 15-minute break system became a hot topic. Schools across the country are exploring this system, and teachers are not allowed to keep teaching longer or stop students from doing activities during breaks. Now, balancing study and rest has become a key concern. So, how can students make the most of their breaks?
Teenagers can do many things to strengthen their bodies and improve their physical health. For example, they can stretch their legs, move their shoulders around, jump rope or play ball games with classmates during the breaks. These activities are simple and don't take much time. Activities outside the schoolyard are welcome. Taking a short walk is also a good choice. These activities are fun and help kids stay active.
This change brings many benefits to teenagers. It helps build strong bodies and relaxes muscles after sitting for a long time. It also makes their immune(免疫) system stronger, and reduces the risk of illness. In terms of mental health, exercise reduces stress from studying and makes teenagers feel more positive. Many students say they feel happier and perform better in class after a short break. Teachers also notice that students pay more attention when they return from their break.
In the future, to help teenagers stay active, both the government and communities should offer more support. The government can spend more money on improving sports facilities, like building better basketball courts and fixing up running tracks. Communities can organize sports events for teenagers during holidays. Also, the media can do its part by showing sports-related programs that encourage students to be more active.
With all these efforts, I believe teenagers will be able to achieve better physical and mental health and grow up happily.

Book reports are common school tasks. You might feel scared at first. But don't worry—— with a clear plan, it's easier than you think! Here are five key steps to help you succeed.
Most teachers give clear instructions about them. Start by reading these requirements carefully. Circle the parts your teacher wants you to include, such as describing characters or themes.
Read the whole book. You must read the book from beginning to end. However, many books have an introduction that explains the book's background or the writer's life. Read that first—— it can make the book clearer.
Use some extra resources(额外的资源). If reading the introduction doesn't make the book clear, you can also search online to learn more about the writer or the history behind the story.
Remember to take notes while you are reading. It can be difficult to remember all the things while reading, so it's a good idea to take notes. So ask yourself: Does this event change the story? Is this symbol repeated? These questions help you pick what truly matters.
Think about what to write in your book report. Always check your teacher's rules first. Talk about the main characters. Look for the main ideas by finding repeated symbols or words. But write everything in your own words. Take your time and you' ll produce a great report!
When you have a book report task, try these methods!
A. Understand the task requirements.
B. The Internet is really useful here.
C. Describe where the story takes place.
D. I know it's hard, especially if the book is boring.
E. Spend time drawing a picture related to the book.
F. When reading, it may seem like everything is important.

Why does one plus one equals two? Many teachers would say, "It just does. " However, this answer has made children .
They' re right to be so. This type of answer makes math feel like a set of rules that must. How boring As a math researcher, I like to challenge rules. Instead of simply that one plus one equals two, let's go a step further and question whether it's always true.
Sometimes, one plus one can equal than two. If you and a friend each have 1.5 times the amount of money for a cup of coffee, alone you can only buy one cup, but together you can pool your money to afford three.
Sometimes, one plus one is just one. If you put one pile(堆) of sand on the top of , you just get one pile of sand. Or if you mix two colors, you only get one new color.
And in some situations, one plus one is . If I say, "I'm not not hungry, " that means"I'm hungry. " The point here is that one"not" plus another"not" means no"nots".
You might think this isn't math because the examples in question aren't numbers at all. But the goal of learning math isn't just to get the numbers. Instead, it's to understand the world on a deeper level. , in mathematical research, we often try to explore when a rule holds and when it doesn't.
I want us to see math as a space to ask questions and explore answers, rather than a strict place where rules are all rigid(死板的).
